Ron Hunter is convention chairman here in Scotland. He's also a one-time substitute CO. Very well thought of and respected Jehovah's Witness elder whose opinion carries a lot of weight. Known, too, for his public speaking ability.
What I thought was remarkable was the 'write down the fors and againsts' idea, and then later when presented with the fact that the WTS is a false prophet, elder replies "so that's all, then?" as if that can be dismissed completely.

I heard that this was happening in the New York area, congregations being closed down and the pubs sent to surrounding congregations, KHs being sold off etc.

I'm the same as the previous two posters, once I knew the truth I couldn't make myself not know it. I found it almost physically uncomfortable sitting in the KH listening to the teaching, especially some of the answers during the WT study.

Hi Space Cow Boy. Great name.
I note with interest that you've cited a scripture.
Can you please do me a favour and cite me a scripture that says;
- there's a slave "class"
- that Jesus makes any mention of this slave "class" taking care of his earthly belongings
- that Jesus trusts this slave "class"
Thanks, that'd be a big help.

Family studies- the longest nights of your life?
by JimmyPage ingrowing up we had the occasional family study though thankfully it was sporadic.
that one hour always felt so long and boring, i couldn't wait for it to end so that we could watch tv.
anybody else feel the joy?.

My dad used to study the Bible with me. Like, s'rsly. Eventually he moved on to the pre-baptism books, but for quite a while we worked our way through the Bible, starting Genesis, reading it verse by verse and just talking about what we were reading. I was able to ask anything.
Joking apart, some of the best times with my dad - he'd get really enthusiastic and animated as we'd talk about what we were reading - and I honestly believe it was those 'studies' that built my love for the Bible at an early age.

Well I am officially on private reproof.
by JimmyPage inme and the wife both.
for our you know, pre-marital bumping of the fuzzies.
all of those years of guilt she had- she's shocked that all she got was a slap on the wrist.

There elders I knew who were barely into their 40s who were pulling the small spectacles balanced on the end of their nose trick.
I could never understand it.

The one thing they won't stop you doing while reproofed is going out in service. I mean, why would they want to interfere with that fine privilege?
Hopefully this will be a turning point for your wife;
- no, Jimmy hasn't started taking the lead, spiritually
- no, she doesn't feel any better for confessing to the elders
- and look, the 'friends' are treating us differently because they 'sense'* that we've been judicially reproofed
*i.e. been told by an elder's wife.
I know elders who, when deciding whether to start restoring privileges, take a deep breath, remove their spectacles, sigh and then say, "no, it's too soon for me." Bear in mind, in this particular case, the elder hadn't even gone to visit the person who's privilege we were talking about restoring. He just felt it was too soon.

The Great Crowd are NOT Jehovah Witnesses ?
by Nick! inthe great crowd are not jehovah's witnesses ?.
this is a statement i read recently on a french forum.. according to the statement, when the name jw was adopted back in 1931, the gc, as we know it today, was not yet identified, and the new name applied solely to the ex international bible students association, all anointed members of the fds.. when later, in 1935 the great crowd was identified, they were referred to as jonadabs, not yet as jehovahs witnesses.
i have been in the truth for over 60 years, but it is the first time i hear about that assumption.. can anyone of you confirm or infirm this statement?.

This is exactly the same as the WTS deciding that only anointed Witnesses are Christians. So by their own reckoning there are around 10,000 Christians on the planet. Good luck.
