@ boyzone;
Yes, I was still an elder. No, no copy of the outline. No one gets those outlines other than the traveling overseers, I'm afraid. There was a lot of discussion about this when it happened last year.
ok so the mate took good notes at the ca and here is the newest on "higher education:.
the usual bashing of motives: those who want great wealth, prestige and seek it in a college educationcollege graduates don't always get jobs in their fieldsdrugs, drinking and sex are "rampant" at collegesthose who want to "snatch us away" are near if we go to college (isa 54)if we seek a college education, we are not spiritual mindedthe most disturbing for me was this:.
those who choose college will not get blessings from jehovahand of course there was the obligatory interview with the college graduate who disdains the education whe received.. .

does the wts fit the description of the evil slave in jesus parable?.
i'd like to see everyone that cares to discuss that.
sometimes when i read that parable, it occurs to me that maybe it's the wts that better fits the description of the evil slave, the one who beat his brothers, abused them.
WTS = evil slave, but only if we're going to apply the parable to a worldwide publishing corporation.
Only the evil slave has any interest in the time of the master's arrival.

They also state that to go or not is a personal decision, but really, if you care what your parents, peers and elders think, you are not going to go. They have painted as Satanic the desire to go to school!
The pressure to get an education beyond high school is put on the same level as being pressurised into taking crack cocaine.
Remember, the CO outline last year presented the scenario that any appointed men who approve of their kids going to college and recommend it as an option* to anyone else would be removed from their position.

Whether or not you get a job based on your degree is completely irrelevant; many jobs require having a degree, not what the degree is in.
Sex and drugs are as prevalent in the workplace as in college.
This is another fear-factor control technique.
I know plenty of 'brothers' with some sort of college education who are well used within the organisation. The key element is being born into a hooked up family...then you can do what you like, be appointed as an elder in your 20s and end up serving at some sort of Circuit level job by the time you're 35. Fact. These ones get to go to college and they get blessed by Jehovah*.
I'm active in church fellowship, not just with Riverside, but some of the other local churches. The vast majority of the young people go to college, remain in Christian fellowship in college, leave college and use their degree in some way to try and make a difference to society. This is called being the salt of the earth and a light to the world.
Of course, Christians don't believe that the earth is soon to be ruled over by the Governing Body, so I guess they feel responsible to try and make a difference while they're on the planet. The average JW believes that soon Losche and his cronies are going to be ruling over them to an even greater degree than they currently are, so why would they need an education/decent job. The end is just around the corner, right?

"praise jah, you people!"--ps.
" A Greek form of this expression appears four times at Revelation 19:1-6 "
Are the WTS prepared to admit that these instances are the only times anything close to YHVH is found in the Greek manuscripts?
Par 3"The main purpose of our congregating regularly, both in local congregations and at large conventions, is to praise Jehovah. "
Actually, according to the WTS legal charter the purpose of the meetings it the public worship of Jesus and Jehovah.
Par 4 "Jehovah's creations abound with wonderful purpose."
Doesn't the Bible teach that Jesus created everything?
Par 8 "An example that many might cite is the use of slaves to build the pyramids."
The pyramids. Topical...
Par 9 "His works include the merciful provision for the salvation of sinful mankind. In providing the ransom, God was 'exhibiting his own righteousness.' "
Amazingly, the WTS manage to sidestep using the name Jesus in this paragraph, even when they're talking about salvation.
Par 10 "The majority of the Jews rejected Jesus and allowed him to be executed."
That's correct and that's why John 1:12 says that to everyone who believed in his name was given the authority to be children of God. Why don't the WTS focus on this loving provision? Oh, that's right. If everyone who believes in the name of Jesus can be a son of God, where does that put the literal 144,000?
Par 11 "Today, he is providing an abundant supply of spiritual food in over 400 languages"
Wait. Jehovah God the Almighty can only provide food in 400 languages? Why is he limiting himself in this way? And do you notice the subtle way the WTS are calling themselves Jehovah?
Par 14 "One result was that the way was opened for 144,000 humans to become spirit-anointed followers of Christ."
Can't the spirit anoint all Christians? Why just 144,000?
Par 17 "He has sent redemption itself to his people. To time indefinite he has commanded his covenant. His name is holy and fear-inspiring. "
And how was this redemption sent? Through Jesus. So why don't the WTS mention his name?
Q 18. Why do you feel that bearing God's name is a privilege?
I'd like to ask whether Jesus or the 12, Paul, Barnabas, Silas, Lydia or any other 1st C Christian felt it was a privilege to bear God's name. Did they call themselves Jehovah's Witnesses, or did they call themselves Christians?

a brochure: the bible-what is its message?.
it's dumbed down for the doorstep.
26 subjects simplified to a page or two each.. a book: bearing thorough witness about god's kingdom.
Thanks Billy.
has anyone else seen the [amazingly badly] animated dvd/video about king david (on the dvd it was a double bill with one about noah).. i had to endure watching this one as it was to be 'studied' at the service meeting.. anyway, a bit of the way in, after the israelites beat the philistines, there is a good 3-4 second shot of all the israelites sticking up 2 fingers at the philistines (which, in the uk anyway, means "f*ck you" and is regarded as the same as verbally saying a 4 letter word), i pointed this out to my family and every witness that would listen.
everyone told me i was lieing or mistaken.. anyway, see it for yourself!
anyone else already notice this?
hey ninja, your fave film is on right now.

Cessa, welcome to the forum.
just had another visit from the jw's.
same lady but this time her husband sat in the car and she brought along a younger woman.
this woman just sat and told us that there are several things that she has her own doubts about but that she keeps to herself.
Sit in someone else's home and try to recruit them into an organization that they don't even believe in themselves - all the while admitting that people have died in the name of the Society doctrine.
Fear. Fear of not being seen to be having 'plenty to do'.
