Red Bull makes me feel ill, especially the sugared variety. I've been drinking a sugar-free supermarket own brand for several months and it's actually very good. Nice gentle lift and no headachey aftermath.

"Energy" drinks... have you tried them?
by Gregor inthese things are extemely popular.
they seem to share the common ingredients of taurine and caffiene, flavorings, and either an artificial sweentener or sugar.. my youngest son has invested in a distributor deal for one of the up and coming brands that is concentrated and sold in a little 2 swallow bottle, rather than a big 12 or 16oz can.
he has vending machines and counter displays.

Show-down with elder at the kingdom hall
by Hobo Ken inthis is podcast 8 in the death or obedience series.. this was recorded on christmas day 2008.. after our last visit from two local elders my wife felt she could no longer be known as a jehovah's witness and had chosen to disassociate herself in november 2008.. we had been on a family holiday and had returned to find that one of the local elders who had visited us had warned off my mother-in-law from having anything to do with my wife - her daughter.
he also made false statements about one of my children.. i decided to confront this elder at the kingdom hall.
this podcast is the recording of our conversation.. notice how he denies making such statements to my mother-in-law and falsely accuses me of teaching her beliefs contrary to jehovah's witnesses.. i ask whether it's a sin to no longer be a jehovah's witness?.

Telly Addicts
by Rosey insince leaving the borg i have becom a total telly addict......we have a tv in the living room, the bedroom and one in the office and at least one of those is on throughout the day......it doesn't stop me doing things.......it's more like background sometimes but i do find that i watch a lot more than anyone else i know.. now i'm not interested in soaps at all........i do however like series and films and although i actually hate it i will be addicted to bb now that it is on.. once i find a series i like i watch it "religiously" (haha) from beginning to end...... such as........star trek voyager, stargate sg-1, stargate atlantis, medium, supernatural, grey's anatomy, ghost whisperer, 24, west wing, chuck, csi (all 3), criminal minds, big bang theory, curb your enthusiasm, er, desperate housewives, lost, nip/tuck, house, deadliest catch, brothers and sisters, .................i could go on and on but i think you get the picture.. the thing is i make no apologies for watching so much telly......i love it after having times when i was young when my parents would put the tv away for weeks to try and encourage us to study more and spend more time playing games...... how much telly do you watch........what do you watch and why?.

We bought a nice big LCD TV last year, but we hardly watch it. I've conditioned myself over the past few years to get my entertainment from the 'net and Bittorrent.

I commented about apostates today at the meeting
by cognac ini couldn't help myself.
it was so obnoxious what the paragraph was saying about apostates.. so i said that having a difference of opinion is not a problem but really as brought out by thessolonians it is when a person raises themselves up above god to have people follow them instead of god that they are considered bad in god's eyes.. i don't even know if it had anything to do with the question, but i just wanted to say that, lol..

I've tested the spirit of Reniaa and I don't believe she's the person she claims to be. :0)

DF or DA what do you think the difference is?
by Rosey ini would like to know from everyone first of all what they think the difference is between a df'd person and a da'd person.. i would also like to know what everyone thinks that jw's think is the difference between a df'd and da'd person.. personally i am df'd.
i was df'd 10 years ago almost and did not argue it at all as i had no desire to continue as a jw anyway.
before being df'd i was always under the impression that if a person da'd themselves it almost always meant they were " apostate" and that there was no way a jw should have any contact with them.

@ Rosey;
hoboken.....and pp I guess my questions may have been slightly more geared towards you as we know each other and while I was df'd for "fornication"......something I make no apologies for..................and you were df'd and da'd for apostasy.........do you, now that you have left, feel that you are different as an exjw than I am............
I think I understand what you're saying. You were DFd for fornication (a sin, according to the Bible) and I was DAd for apostasy (NB. I still believe in the Bible, God and Jesus, I just don't wish to follow the leadership of the Governing Body).
I think we're both in the same boat. I'm a sinner, you're a sinner. We both voluntarily chose a life course that would lead to our exclusion from the 'club' called the Watch Tower Society.

If I'm not correct in your eyes show me a scripture which allows us to disobey leaders and create divisions by our actions! I challenge you!
What if someone leaves the leadership of the Governing Body - ie. doesn't remain a JW, thus causing divisions - and quietly gets on with the rest of their life? Why does the Governing Body attribute the class 'apostate' to such a person, with the word having a definition unique to the Watch Tower Society?

Apostasy according the the WTS definition is rejecting your beliefs, opposing the organisation/Jehovah and rejecting the organisation. Check the Reasoning book.
And guys, please don't let Reniaa hijack this thread.
Well done, congnac.

Dissension spooking the Watchtower Leadership?
by freddo inapparently the current round of co visits (in the uk) includes (from an outline in the co meeting with elders and possibly also mss) much talk of tightening up the rules on associating with df/da, apostates and that they are to take the lead in clamping down on this.. they also focus on the view that apostates have nothing else to offer jw's.. sounds like anti-wt tactics are having an effect!
but it looks like it's going to get tougher before it gets easier .... anyone else confirm?
my sources are elders/ms's in two seperate nearby congo's..
