Is Christ still a slave and will he return as a slave?
The answer is no; his time as a slave to mankind is over, he's now King of King and Lords of Lords. To suggest that he is under the inspection of some Master or other is false.
who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics,.
to give them their food at the proper time?
happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so.. truly i say to you, he will appoint him over all his belongings" -matt.

when i was a jehovah's witness i remember these debates being mentioned about the raps of innocent children that elders commented, the blacks and whites segregation, the crosses and christmas tree in the bethal, etc.
jehovah's witnesses have always been harassed for these things.
with the changing world and knowledge of the scriptures they work hard to try to work towards accurateness.
Once again, God is not dependant on people like Mannasseh or Moses (he never was, it was people who needed visible kings and leaders). Therefore, the entire premise of the Watch Tower Society of being God's channel of communication, God's only true organisation on earth to which people must come in order to receive salvation, is an Old Covenant idea.
And no matter how much time and effort the Watch Tower Society spend in trying to prove to people that they need an Old Covenant structure to follow and obey, it doesn't change the fact that we aren't to worship in this place, or in that temple, but rather to worship in spirit and truth, being guided by the Holy Spirit, with God's laws written on our hearts; in other words through the New Covenant.
God isn't going to restore truth to the Watch Tower Society; it didn't have it in the first place.
Yeah, but they're not iPhone wallpapers, so....

While I appreciate the time and research put into this, I don't think Jesus is the slave. He's the Master, consistently throughout the Gospels. He's also Lord of Lords and King of Kings. His days of ministering to men are over and we now have the Holy Spirit as our counsellor and comforter (paraklete).
The faithful and discreet slave is a slave of Christ (Christian) who is faithfully and wisely administering to the spiritual needs of fellow Christians. Luke's parallel description of the faithful and wise servant has Jesus go on to elaborate that he's looking for a servant who'd be girded and ready to open when he knocks on the door. Therefore Jesus can't be the faithful and wise/discreet slave/servant.
Enjoy.

God doesn't use imperfect people to lead them to him; he uses Christ and the Holy Spirit.
she responded to a message i sent her, actually asking for me to tell her why she was wrong in assuming i 'had left jehovah'.. i have never had a close relationship with this person, i have nothing to loose.
i don't really care what she thinks, although i would love to see her treat my comments in a fair way - for her own sake.
but i doubt it - been there, done that!.
She actually quoted Matt 7:13-15?
Did she even read v15?
Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
Has anyone actually tried fasting and prayer? Just curious.
i hope this will be as respectful a debate as possible.
here is the premise: many of us (most) seem to be ex jw's on this board.
that means, whatever your motivation, for a time you bought into the theology of jw to one degree or another.
Francis Collins has some interesting observations on agnosticism perhaps being the ultimate cop out*. He was agnostic, then atheist, then believer. Interesting journey.
He's quoted in this excellent book too. Written by another scientist**.
I think it's often a simple case of life's baggage determine how we view the idea of faith and God. And as an exJW, I fully recognise that the Governing Body have ladened us with more than our personal allowance.
*Quote: "In response, Collins clarified his position on agnosticism so as not to include "earnest agnostics who have considered the evidence and still don't find an answer. I was reacting to the agnosticism I see in the scientific community, which has not been arrived at by a careful examination of the evidence."
**Not sure if those of a scientific background on this forum would consider him a real scientist as I'm not clear on the predicating conditions with which one science is considered more or less legitimate than another.
