A@G you helped me come "out". lol
I had to figure things out for myself. It's scary!
i know this subject has been talked about over and over, but since i'm new to jwd and the truth about the truth, i wanted to find out for myself if the reason the society claims they got a library pass and became and ngo was legit.
so i sent an email to the un.

Thank you for your post Mary. I was wanting to find something about the YMCA, as I mentioned this in my letter to my mom, now I have a quote to back me up.
If anyone wants a forward of this email, PM me and I will send it to you.
I truly didn't think I would get a response back, but I did. Took almost 2 months!
I guess I just wanted to post it for those who like myself at first, thought that half the stuff online wasn't real. This info came directly from the UN to me, so it's REAL!!!! They also gave me the link to the letter that is already online, but it just confirms more in my head.
Glad to be of assistance. lol. Its quite disturbing.

"encourage political particpation through provision of information."
Thank you for your input Satanus. Either way, it is a 'sin' as you said, for what they did. The NGO definition you provided was explanitary in the definition of NGO as it is to "encourage political particpation through provision of information."
Encourage political participation in the definition of NGO in itself is a sin. Now why would the society in the first place not look up the definition of NGO BEFORE becomming one with the UN. Yes it is a general term but it is still worse than purchasing a party card in Malawi. Gosh I feel so bad for those that went through all that crap there.
Peace to all,

"Registering as an ngo is also of no more account than is incorporating or writing a charter. Get the issue straight in your head, for a start."
What did you mean by that Satanus?

INTERESTING.................same kind of letters that I've come accross as proof, but this one was personally sent to me. So now I can confidently say that the WT was full of crap when they use the excuse of a library card. ARGH! something we all beleived and put our faith in...hurts me so much. FAWK! |
i know this subject is touchy, and i dont want to stir feathers.....but with my most recent convo with my mom and her "anointed" husband, they dont have as much of a problem with me discrediting the society as i do, as they do with the fact that i'm gay.
as he puts it....ignore the society and what they teach....go to the bible...so i asked him what about david and jonathans relationship, how can you prove they didnt have a sexual love for eachother and he says...'amanda, do you think they were bum holing eachother?'.
well when you put it that way i dont know, but that has nothing to do with the fact that most gay relationships have nothing to do with the actual act of sex, they have to do with the love two people share, cause they can't share it with someone else.. his response was simpathetic, and cause of my abusive past, that is what they blame it on........if i wasnt abused i wouldnt be gay.
UP, you have alot of strength. I enjoy your posts, and respect your faith in Christ.
Being so recent out of the WT, it will take me a while to de program myself.
I guess I have the attitude, (even if its a bad one) that we all sin every day and our sins are pretty much equal....ie: lying, stealing, and yes I've done everything the 10 commandments say NOT to do...
I don't know.....I'm still so lost. I just can't see God destroying that many people as we are ALL sinners and sin every day....
Thank you UP for your comments:)

you are the best thank you:)
can anyone please maybe find a scan of this article?
the first sentence reads:"disfellowshipping can be extremely punitive.".
it is an article that supposedly reads that the punishment to a df'd person goes so far as to 'include hatred' of such persons-not just their behavior.
THIS is why I am so sad to see JWD go away. I have gotten so many responses and 3 scanned articles of this. AMAZING. THANK YOU ALL!!!!!
Hate like I said, is not something God is, so why would they publish that. Mary, thank you for your kind efforts of getting me this article.
I'm halfway on my letter to my mom with quotes from WT's and some stuff you find online is crap, and untrue. I just like to verify when someone says it is from a WT.
You are all the best!

"williams: ``i obviously am excited to see [ barack] obama out there doing his thing, but i'm a [jehovah's] witness, so i don't get involved in politics.
we stay neutral.
By Jacob Leibenluft Posted Thursday, June 26, 2008, at 6:39 PM ET Serena Williams
Serena Williams told reporters at Wimbledon on Wednesday that she's excited about Barack Obama's candidacy but won't vote for him because Jehovah's Witnesses "don't get involved in politics." Her sister Venus—who is also a Jehovah's Witness—wouldn't even comment on the presidential election. Why don't Jehovah's Witnesses vote?
Because of John 17:14 and other passages in the Bible. In that verse, Jesus says of his followers: "They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world." Jehovah's Witnesses have interpreted that statement as a call to remain neutral in all political matters. (In some of the sect's literature, members are described as "representatives of God's heavenly kingdom"; they are thus obligated to stay out of local political affairs in keeping with the behavior of ambassadors.) Witnesses also refrain from serving in the military, running for public office, and pledging allegiance to the flag.
Voting is not expressly prohibited, but it is discouraged. The Watchtower, the official publication of the Jehovah's Witnesses, ran an article in 1999 suggesting that the decision whether to vote was one of personal conscience, although it carefully laid out reasons for staying out of the voting booth. In reference to countries that require all citizens to show up at the ballot box, the Watchtower has explained that "[w]here Caesar makes it compulsory for citizens to vote … [Jehovah's Witnesses] can go to the polls and enter the voting booths," but the Watchtower did not specify what Witnesses should do with the ballot itself. According to some, the requirement for political neutrality led to the violent persecution of Witnesses in Malawi during the late 1960s and early 1970s, when adherents refused to register with the ruling Congress Party.
Most Jehovah's Witnesses in America do, in fact, abstain from voting. According to a survey released this week by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, the religious group is far more likely than any other to believe that there is only one true way to interpret religious teachings. In keeping with that adherence, just 13 percent reported they were registered to vote.
While Witnesses have shied away from electoral politics, they have left a strong mark on the judicial branch: The group has brought several dozen civil-liberties cases before the Supreme Court, including a famous 1943 case over whether Jehovah's Witnesses could be forced to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in schools.
Jehovah's Witnesses are by far the largest religious group that refuses to vote, but they are not the only ones: Old Order Amish, Christadelphians, and Rastafarians have all traditionally shunned politics. (In the case of both the Amish and the Rastafarians, though, attitudes have changed a bit in the last few years.) Nationally, about 2 percent of people who don't register to vote cite religious reasons. If Jehovah's Witnesses did vote, they probably wouldn't form a large bloc anyway: the group makes up less than 1 percent of the U.S. population and is widely distributed across the country.
