What goals do JWS have now?
by Fisherman inafter being the org for years and years, one becomes accustomed to jw activties, weekly meetings, assbly, etc... it becomes a habit, a routine, and something that as a jw ,you just do.
but one time jws had "spiritual goals" full time sevice, positions in the org.
do jws still have such goals ?

I agree with oompa....it drives me nuts to keep hearing how close the end is.... if it is that close then why not sell everything off, live in a 1 bedroom appartment and pioneer. Seems like a double standard.

Is Jdubs practice of Teenage baptism really any better than Infant Baptism?
by blkblk13 inso i was thinking the other day about how the jdubs always mock the catholics for baptizing infants who can't make a true commitment to god so the sybol of dedication is empty.
well, as anyone who's been in the org knows there is a culture of pressuring teenagers to get baptized.
if u r over 12yo it is a question that is constantly asked.

I completely agree.
I was btzd at 13...I had NO IDEA what I was getting into. I am now in my mid 30's and am just starting to understand the "real" truth.
And I also agree with oompa, Jesue was 30'ish when he was baptized. I think that should set a guideline for all. it doesn't have to be 30, but it sure as heck shouldn't be 8 or even 18.
Geez, even the government knows enough that kids don't know what they are doing until at least 18 - hence the military minium age.

Fun game for the convention
by Iwonder17 inso you already know how much the parking nazi's aggravate me.. so every time that we have gone to the dc, i have my kids guess how many morons it take to help me park my care ( i word it nicely as i don't want to be a jerk in front of my kids ) the last time, it took 15 idiots to point me to a parking spot.. guess how many people it took to help me park when i went to a nfl football game last year ( 75,000 people attended the game ).....2....one on the street with a flag and a second to collect the $$.. the amazing thing was that there were no accidents at the football game and all of the cars somehow fit in the spaces without 4 teenage jw's pointing at the exact smae spot..

Yeah, I love the Privilege crap too. What a joke. Like cleaning the hall....Hey just say it like it is..."we need some people to scrub the toilets".... not..." If you are a spiritual man, you will count it a privilege to do hall cleaning.

by Iwonder17 inok, i will keep this breif.. i have always had a problem with conscience matter's and here is my reasoning.
whenever a conscience matter issue comes up, they always end with a comment something like "whatever your conscience allows you to do" and you will answer to god for your actions.. i believe there is no such of a thing as a conscience matter for the following reasons:.
1) if there was a conscience matter posed to jesus, what side of the issue would he choose?

parking lot attendant = just doing enough to have the boe remember your name.
outside attendat = you smell pretty bad and you embarrass the boe.

Outside attendat = you smell pretty bad and you embarrass the BOE
Inside attendant = You are starting your push for MS or elder and they know your first name
Emblem passer = One of the club
Prayer over the emblems = you run the club
If you disagree with the ranking, think really hard... you will never see someone that is not in the club do anything that they conside important. I love when they ask me to do things like the mic's, I say yeah, that would be fun let's talk next meeting about it and then I don't show up for another month.

Thank you all so far for your thoughts.
Just to clear up a couple of things... when I said Liberal, I meant some people will allow some things where others would never allow anything. So I didn't mean that as a political word, I just didn't know the best way to put it.
Also, I agree with Casper and OnTheWayOut.
Casper, you're right. And that's what bugs me. If they don't want me to do something, just have the stones to tell me.
OnTheWayOut, you make a good point as well....and that is basically my life in a nutshell. Me, my wife and kids all do what we should, but IT'S NEVER ENOUGH TO MAKE THEM HAPPY. I have been a MS and Pioneer before and I don't want to right now. But they never stop bugging me to DO MORE DO MORE DO MORE !!!!

I have always had a problem with Conscience matter's and here is my reasoning. Whenever a Conscience matter issue comes up, they always end with a comment something like "whatever your Conscience allows you to do" and you will answer to god for your actions.
I believe there is no such of a thing as a Conscience matter for the following reasons:
1) If there was a Conscience matter posed to Jesus, what side of the issue would he choose? ( I would assume, the conservitive side )
2) If during your life you were faced with 100 Conscience matter, and you always choose the "liberial" side of the issue, would you be more or less likely to gain entry into paradise?
3) If during your life you were faced with 100 Conscience matter, and you always choose the "liberial" side of the issue, and the elders were aware of this, would you ever be appointed as a MS or elder?
Tell me what you think.... I am a very black and white kind of person and I have a tough time with Conscience matters. I would prefer that the is just a rule and you wither follow it or not.
