Times and Unforeseen Occurances
by purplesofa ini can barely remember the anguish i used to go through as a witness trying to figure out if i had jehovahs spirit with me, or if jehovah was allowing satan to test me or if things happened because of times and unforeseen occurances.. confusion.....anxiety i would pray, pray pray to jah for guidance.
anytime something good happened it was always jehovah watching out over me.. now, i was not born a witness...i became a witness, then i was df, reinstated, and now apostate.
and things have happened in my life pretty much the same in all circumstances.

Interesting that you say that comment.
I find it funny that the only time that we look to a higher power is when there is trouble, and as a last ditch effort we ask for gods help. Are we just as quick to talk to god when something good happens? Do we immediately pray to him after sex thanking him for that wonderful time ( and no, that is not a bad example or one in poor taste )
Do we thank him immediately thank him when we have a great dinner?
Lastley, what do you think god will do for a sick child? he will not cure him as that would be a miracle and he does not perform those any more. Will he give us comfort? again, I think that that is even a miracle, so I think no. If praying brings you comfort it is because you believe that it is helping, it is a mind trick, there is no physical change that is happening.

Short of elders/MS why the silly microphone policy
by stillajwexelder inok - in our circuit anyway loads of brothers who get less than the national average hours can not do microphones etc.
now if you are short of elders it makes zero sense.
why not let every brother who is a regular publisher do mics/platform/literature/mags etc?.

I have had many fights about this national ave crap. I go to a hall where the cong ave is 13+ hours. So I say to the elders, what am I being jugded on ? the nat ave or the cong ave?
I got 5 different answers from 5 elders.
So what do you think I did.....I told the sound Nazi...take me off the mic list, I'm done playing mind games.

What goals do JWS have now?
by Fisherman inafter being the org for years and years, one becomes accustomed to jw activties, weekly meetings, assbly, etc... it becomes a habit, a routine, and something that as a jw ,you just do.
but one time jws had "spiritual goals" full time sevice, positions in the org.
do jws still have such goals ?

I agree with oompa....it drives me nuts to keep hearing how close the end is.... if it is that close then why not sell everything off, live in a 1 bedroom appartment and pioneer. Seems like a double standard.

Is Jdubs practice of Teenage baptism really any better than Infant Baptism?
by blkblk13 inso i was thinking the other day about how the jdubs always mock the catholics for baptizing infants who can't make a true commitment to god so the sybol of dedication is empty.
well, as anyone who's been in the org knows there is a culture of pressuring teenagers to get baptized.
if u r over 12yo it is a question that is constantly asked.

I completely agree.
I was btzd at 13...I had NO IDEA what I was getting into. I am now in my mid 30's and am just starting to understand the "real" truth.
And I also agree with oompa, Jesue was 30'ish when he was baptized. I think that should set a guideline for all. it doesn't have to be 30, but it sure as heck shouldn't be 8 or even 18.
Geez, even the government knows enough that kids don't know what they are doing until at least 18 - hence the military minium age.

Fun game for the convention
by Iwonder17 inso you already know how much the parking nazi's aggravate me.. so every time that we have gone to the dc, i have my kids guess how many morons it take to help me park my care ( i word it nicely as i don't want to be a jerk in front of my kids ) the last time, it took 15 idiots to point me to a parking spot.. guess how many people it took to help me park when i went to a nfl football game last year ( 75,000 people attended the game ).....2....one on the street with a flag and a second to collect the $$.. the amazing thing was that there were no accidents at the football game and all of the cars somehow fit in the spaces without 4 teenage jw's pointing at the exact smae spot..
