Long Intro From A Long Timer
by hillary_step ini am a new to posting on this board though i have been actively reading your posts the past while and i thank some of you for the interesting viewpoints that you have verbalized and that i have enjoyed thinking on.
i am still an active jw, in fact an elder of 20 years standing hence my need to limit information about my personal circumstances.
i have served in a number of countries in europe as a pioneer and elder over the past three decades.

The best thing that I ever did was to show patience. Eventually my beautiful wife saw the light and decided to leave too. It was frustrating waiting for her to throw down the shackles of her numerous decades as a JW, but it was worth every frustrating moment to have her with me. It also allowed me to plan financially and in other ways for our exit.
Love conquers all. I waited 8 years for my wife as well, serving in the congo and pioneering. I was very careful not to burn my ships. I "woke up"in '98-'99. I planned as well, completing college before my exit, the WT stance was less hardline in the early '00s.
Hats off to you on that.

American Politics...leave it to the Americans
by Who are you? insimons board rules "if you don't like the policies, you are free to leave" sounds a lot like the neocons battle cry of "my country love it or leave it"...the irony is palpablesimon's disdain of american political ideology is understandable.
i remember on my first of dozens of trips to europe, standing in line to board the ferry that crossed lake chiemsee to one of king ludwig's castles.
though we were talking quietly, it became apparent that we were a couple of americans mixed in with the german majority.

Fortunately, Americans have never been guilty of this ...

I have never agreed with this!
Anyone that thinks the French are weak does not know his military history. WWII was the exception.

Well, it wasn't wihite back then. And besides, the US started it. After we burned the house down we went home and the war was over.
It was a war of a 20 year old Republic against the might of the British Empire!
If I recall, American shipping was being interfered with. Trade with France was being disrupted by the British, and American sailors were being pressed into British Naval service after American merchant vessels were overtaken by British naval vessels. The Americans offered a truce before war but the Limeys would have none of it they needed the sailors desperately to fight the French.
An act of naked agression by a monarchic state against a democracy.

Why didn't Jesus write his own parts of the bible?
by Aphrodite inwhy leave the writing to inaccurate third parties who each saw things from their own perspective.
if his message was so important for posterity, why did he not write an accurate account of his message?

There are a great many manuscripts that consist of runon sentences strung together!! What sort of idiot does that?

The uncial script of the time did not use spacing. This came later, as did capital/lowercase and punctuation.

As a Neanderthal, I quite agree with the article. It pleases me that our public image is improving.

SW Fl isn't too bad (yet).
When it turns into the east coast I will sell and leave.
I need elbow room.

Crocodiles? It depends on where you go. Our beaches here are crocodile free. We have only 100 or so saltwater crocodiles left in the wild, and the majority live in Everglades National Park, which is not the kind of place you will usually go swimming unless your name is Steve Irwin! We have millions of Alligators (a crocodilian), but they are freshwater creatures.

Nice llbh. You should come to Florida, we get lots of British in the summer. Me I do not like New York too much. I don't like city, and I find people rude there (no offense to New Yorkers but the rudeness is legendary). What is funny is that more than half of my coworkers are from that part of the country.
