My great-aunt died years ago. She had no children of her own but had the family farm and most of the money. My grandfather has 4 children. She left no money to the children or my grandfather. Here's the kicker: She left $300,000 in cash plus the family farm and all its contents to the WBTS. My grandfather's brother even got a lawyer to look into her will but the lawyer said everything was done up right! Tricky beastards! My mother, sisters, and her brother were so upset. I laughed. This could be one reason the WBTS survives. You can leave them money, property, and goods in your will. When you're brainwashed you'll do anything.

expenses -vs- donations............. the fall of the Watchtower empire
by DaCheech inas long as i've been here, i have preached that $$$$$ will be the only way for the wt to drop.. many agree on a small level, but think the wt has deep pockets.. they may have deep pockets, but i bet the investments they have have lost quite a bit since 2001.. my main calculation reguards the following hypothesis::::::.
magazine and literature consumption -vs- donations.
i know of 2 congregations, and let me post some figures:.

You Know that You're Really Flucked Up When....
by jamiebowers inyou see a jw on your street and wait for them to come to your door.
yes, seriously, it happened this past tuesday morning.
i saw a jw going to my neighbor's house across the street, so i waited patiently for a knock on my door that never came (at least in the 2 and a half hours before i had to leave the house).

Darn, they're on to you. I'm marked that way too. Fine with me. I got tired of them coming to my door asking why I didn't want to come back to the kingdom Hall. I don't even want to talk to them. I'm not afraid of them or avoid them but don't try to talk to them. I found out they're more afraid of me!

Kid's playing sports?
by ldrnomo inanyone keep their kids from playing sports because of the borg?.
when my son was 8 years old they had a t-ball league in the summer at the nearby park.
because of the borg training we told him he couldn't play t-ball.. that kind of thinking just carried on throughout his life from junior high through high school.

I was raised JW but still played sports. My parents never stopped me thank goodness. I did get talked to by the elders and my family all the time. I was made to feel like I was a terrible person. But hey, my Varsity Basketball Team won the state championship four years in a row. I had a blast.

From innocent to...
by mind my own inhow many of you initally checked out this site for completely innocent reasons?
just stumbed across it and couldnt' stop reading, or to see what was being read with the intent of setting us or someone else in your life straight?
then b/c of what you read you could no longer buy into the whole jw fraud and left the org or are in the process of leaving?

Someone sent me this site while I was on another forum. On the forum I posted my grandmother passed and her memorial service was a "plug" for the JWs. If you didn't hear the first 3 minutes and listen to the last poem read you would have sworn you were at the Sunday talk, not a memorial service for someone who had passed. It was insensitive.

How do we know that humans have been around for more than 6000 years?
by inkling inafter a conversation with my dad last night, i realized that it is fairly.
easy for jws to weasel out of issues involving the fossil record because.
a) the wt has very little to say on the subject and b) witnesses are.

I believe the story of Adam and Eve was made up by the Christian Church trying to scare people and put women in submission to men. Before religion came along Mother Nature was worshiped. Man had many gods. I honestly don't know who is right or what religion is the true religion. Should I deem this?

Happiness versus unhappiness
by jacethespace infor those of you who have left the watchtower have you experienced greater happiness since leaving than when you were in.especially a feeling of all that pressure lifting of conforming to the tower that you didnt realize originally made you misrable and was blamed on satan.thats how ive feel these days since leaving.i feel more natural and mentally stable than when i was a conforming jw.. on the other hand have you noticed these days when i bump into my ex congregation associates they look quite unhappy and depressed.then again it could be because some of them dont know how to deal with me knowing that ive left watchtower land..

I am much happier. It has been nearly 15 years since I have left. Immediately my family life got much better. I became a more productive person. Nothing weighted me down. I still get a big kick out of the JWs that see me in a store and look at me like I'm a monster. I smile at them because I feel sorry for them.

If it was true
by Honesty inwhich it isn't by any stretch of the imagination.. .
can you envision life during the 1,000 year reign with jesus up in heaven and the governing body running the show down here.. .
how long do you think you could stick with it knowing that the rules could change any minute?.

Sorry, but if they were down here running the show it wouldn't be paradise.

Do you get upset when people don't believe that same way you do?
by loosie inis it a normal reaction to get mad when you talk to someone who doesn't believe that way you do?.
the reason i ask is that i don't believe in the most common christianity.
when i come across a person and they ask how i feel about something and i tell them how i feel.
-

Honestly, I don't get mad. We as human beings have the right to believe the way we want to. I love listening to other people's points of view. I try to get down to why people believe what they do. I find it interesting and fun. I don't give up on my convictions or change my mind. Sometimes that irks the other person. If there is one positive to being raised JW, it is that when I left I thought I was weak, little did I know how strong I really am. It made me a more compassionate, respectful, empathetic person. I think everyone needs to coexist.

Why the end is sooo close! Latest illogical JW logic
by Quandary inan elder mentioned yesterday in casual conversation how the end must be close 'because this is the first time in human history that a black man will probably be president of the us.
all other forms of government have had their day, now that a black man will be president, the angels, mankind and satan cannot claim that jehovah didn't give every possible chance for humans to make it without his rulership'.
almost verbatim!
