  there seems to be more open sores on this board than notches on rod stewart's belt, so perhaps the time has come for music.... jesse colin-young, who some may remember as the the pin-man with the youngbloods in the late 60's has linked a work in progress song to his web-site.

  it is rather crude at the moment, view it as a sketch.. jesse is a good-hearted man who has never lost hope.

  Family About to Disown Me

  well i finally got the guts to tell my mother that i had enlisted in the army.

  she didn't say a whole lot to me, but she did tell my sister she was calling the elders and that when i was df'd she would have nothing to do with me.

  i can't say that it suprises me too much, but i was hoping for more of an adult reaction.

  Rather than fall foul of Government, Law and public opinion the WTS does not DF a person who choses to join the military. They judge that you have DA'd yourself ( if you are baptised )by your action. They will make a brief announcment at the KH and your 'friends' and family will be encouraged to treat you as DF.

  Disassociation is disfellowshipping without a judicial comittee. You will find it alluded to in Jaracsz 2:10.

  well the other thread has gotten long concerning the association of te wtbts and the un so i started this one here.

  i just got off the phone with a man in patterson concerning this issue and i will post most of convo here.. first of all if you do call beware they play kingdom melodies when you are on hold!.

  Mommy,

  You may rest assured that you know far more about the issue than he does. He will have been told very little but instructed to encourage enquirers to write and not to discuss the issue over the telephone. A standard Service Desk ploy. That call was being monitored which would further add to his discomfort, poor soul.

  I have seen this happen countless times before over the years, the WTS allows the soft targets ( Service Desk ) to take the hits while they scurry around patching up the holes in the dyke with other peoples heads.

  I am quite sure that this issue will be a alluded to in a coming WT, though the details will not be mentioned. A slight change in Biblical interpretation and the WTS slides a little closer to the mainstream.

  A CO friend who telephoned his local Branch a few weeks ago over this issue was given the standard 'wait and see' treatment. No doubt Legal are mixing their eccentric blend of Constitutional Law, Captain Marvel and the Sermon On The Mount as we speak.

  i've just been watching the 6pm bbc news, where there was an interesting clip to do with the current war.. if i've remembered it right, the british prime minister (tony blair) stated:.

  "earlier today i had a meeting with all britain's religions...".

  anyone know if london bethel was represented?.

  Hello,

  I understand that Paul Gillies represented the WTS, though he apparently did leave early as he was tired of being sent out for tea and doughnuts while the others talked shop. He did say however that he would have left anyway, as he would not miss the Watchtower study, even for Armageddon.

  Ozzie,

  Ozzie, he may have cut his teeth in Australia but he sharpened them to gleaming points in the US! An uncompromising and tough man who eats weaker souls for breakfast. He would rather drop his wife at the NY docks in the small hours ( some wish he would! ) than countenance the Organisation being blighted by compassion and reason.

  Not a likable man.

  i was skimming through the book "mankinds search for god" that my uncle left a few months ago.

  i wanted to give it the once over before i tossed it in the trash, and whoa!

  Actually, this book was the WTS first foray into publishing a non-theological book. It was actually about fishing and should have been entitled 'Mankinds Search For Cod' but was edited by a certain GB member who took Christs command to fish for men a little too seriously.

  i have to say that i am often surprised at the speed with which arguments and opinions on this board often become a conflagration worthy of the russian parliament.

  randy watters made the interesting point on another post recently, that this behavior was the nature of these types of boards and i have to begrudgingly agree with him.

  i wish it were not so, as like voltaire i tend to think that weakness on both sides, is, as we know, the trait of all quarrels.

  dont get me wrong, i dont mean to sound critical or rude, but how can some of you say you are witnesses but not attend meetings and stuff...or go witnessing?

  its what jehovah says to do, so how can u not do what jehovah says, but yet call yourself a jehovahs witness??

  Agreed, it can be irritating but many who drift to this board are fighting the tough emotional battle of cognitive-dissonance. We may be able to help them more by trying to understand this.
