  No problem with the 'shouting'. What I do have a problem with is a host of, by your own admission 20-30 threads, that start of with a cryptic sentence added to by other cryptic comments, that never get anywhere. Why not just wait until you have all the information and are able to present it and discuss it before you start such threads? Cheers - HS

  Doug,

  There is real reason we are taught to structure our writing as: intro (“tell them what you are going to tell them”), the body (“tell them”), followed by a summary and perhaps a conclusion (“tell them what you have told them”). Keep sentences direct and simple.

  As Journey On correctly pointed out, this is not so with creative writing.

  But thanks for the lesson.

  I didn't mention Al Di Meola on this thread to say that he is the "best of the best," just that he is one of the higher echelon. The song was beautiful, as all of the three guitarists had respect for the other's talents. There was a mutual give and take, without any of them demanding greater prominence.

  I agree, and my comment was not to suggest that this thread is a competition. As I noted Al Di Meloa is a great player, one of the best in the world, which further elevates the playing of Paco De Lucia when you see them playing together. That was my point.

  Every so often a musician emerges who is beyond merely being musical, he lives in the music. De Lucia is such a person. McLaughlin is himself an extraordinary player, but imo has never quite lived up to the expectations that one hoped for as presented on his first album 'Extraploitation' in the late 60's. I have all his recordings, but this one is still the most inventive. Sometimes I think musicians go on the road too much and get stuck in musical routines.

  I remember Larry Coryell explaining to me how this happened to him and how a few years into touring and clubbing he took a sabbatical for a year and re-learned how to play the guitar! Went back to guitar school. He was amazed how many bad habits that he had picked up. Somehow De Lucia has avoided this trap.

  Yes, Al Di Meola is a great player. I have a lot of his music and enjoy it, but I have to say he is pretty much outclassed by Paco De Lucia, which of course is nothing to be ashamed of. Being on the same platform as De Lucia is enough of a recommendation it itself.

  Watch this clip, you will see what I mean. De Lucia is more a phenomena that a guitar player!

  Roy Harper.

  This man is a master songwriter and musician and has been writing for over forty years. He was raised as a Jehovah's Witness, which perhaps accounts for this very long song. 'The Death Of God'.

  It is posted in three parts and needs a little discipline to listen. Roy is a very, how shall I put it...eccentric person. Worth the effort.

  No natural events do not come into the picture when the ancients describe the "gods". The sumerians, primarily, are very detailed in mans "creation" and WHY the "gods", who the describe as nothing more than aliens, made man.

  Of course they do. What did the ancients make of an eclipse? Earthquakes. St Elmos Fire? Lightning? Thunder? Floods? Northern Lights? Whirlpools? Strong Winds? All these natural events were interpreted as the manifestation of some God or the other.

  Natural occurences do not support HOW men moved and lifted the trilithon in the Temple of Jupitor, nor does it support how men made structures that rival some of the worlds most advanced construction equipment, etc. No, what we "moderners" tend to do is equate such feats with the catch all phrase - "lost knowledge". Yea, right...

  Yes, they do. You need to do a little more research on the matter. A scientific methodology applied to these previously 'inconceivable' matters have all yielded techniques that allow for such feats of construction. I know it is much more exciting to imagine that aliens designed the buidlings in Rome, or that levitation was used to build the Pyramids, but it is pure Von Daniken poppycock. All of this has been debunked.

  The Roman aqeduct, which has a fall on 1/4" over many miles, is a much greater feat of construction than lifting heavy stones Sinis. But construction plans and methods have been uncovered that showed how they were built.
