Do you find yourself kinda thinking conspiricy theorist are maybe correct?
by IreallydidwalkoutofaKH ini don't know if it is me or if it is becauce i was taught so much false teachings growing up, or maybe that the watch tower publications are about a 10th grade level and when i read a thoughtful article i want to believe it.
but boy, television media seems to present the public with truths the same way the watchtower presents its truth.
with 10 minute sound bites, never getting to deep and really not explaining very well the history of some of the subjects.just a thought!

Do Paul's Letters Really Count?
by almostbitten inif there is anyone here with some heavy bible knowledge, i would like to throw this nugget up in the air.
in 2 timothy 3:16, paul reminds us that "all scripture is inspired of god and beneficial for teaching...." nwt (because that was the version that was sitting nearby).
my question is: did paul consider the personal letters he wrote to the various churches and to timothy, titus, and philemon as scripture?

Burn The Ships,
So he was so willing to subvert Christianity that he was willing to suffer for it for it? The whippings, the prison sentences, the privations. Because he was martyred, you know. Doesn't sound to me like someone that was willing to damage Christianity from within to me at all.
Yes, like lots of deluded religionists, he somehow imagined that by taking a good beating for his beliefs it actually made him a better person.
The reality is that he is the only person on public record, at least that I have discovered, who has actually bored somebody to death. I was amazed that the family of Eutychus did not sue him for boring their poor son to death. Mind you, they may have realised that even if successful the only thing they would have got from him was a white cane.

Most Haunting Voices in Music

What-A-Coincidence,
That's like saying, no way that so many of hitlers people carried out ghastly expeirments ... wake up
No, it is like saying that it is impossible to keep such huge operations secret. Hitlers 'experiments' were well known even at their embryonic stage by numerous individuals and bodies.

White Dove,
There were explosive devices set inside the buildings at the corners that went off one level at a time to make sure the towers went down and went straight down. You can see the tiny explosions going off just before the roof section hits each level. I used to think that it was just air from the outside exploding out, but the way they went down was identical to the way buildings go down when professionally demolished with dynomite.
It was partly an inside job, or someone got inside and planted the explosives. Those building would have gone down without airplanes crashing into them and may have not fallen from just the airplanes. Dynomite would have been enough.
The 'conspiracy theory' of internal explosions in the Trade Towers on 9/11 has been more than very thoroughly debunked. Here is a good starting point. Please note the uunbiased expert opinions given. http://www.debunking911.com/WTC7.htm HS

Tjkmo,
Has to be 'Brigadoon' for me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8Od2idW0KM&feature=related
Loerner & Lowe excelled on this one. Great story line, perfect lyrics and Kelly & Charisse. What could be better? Nothing in the way of musicals post 1950's ever came close imo to capturing the spirit of the genre. Andrew Lloyd Webber - .
Sondheims 'Into The Woods' is spectacular also, but I hate things with kids in.

do you feel posting on JWD helps or hinders your recovery?
by burningbridges insometimes i wonder if posting on this site helps me "recover" from the trauma that the witnesses put me through, and have no doubt it does at times.
no where else is there such a support team of individuals who know personally what you've been through and how you feel.
but at the same time, i often wonder if coming on here causes me to obsess in a way, preventing me from "moving on" with my life.

Journey,
That being said, we bring our own disposition and past experiences to this board and add to the overall community personality. If you don't think discussion boards develop a "personality", just check out some of the other ex-JW discussion forums.
Discussion boards have a tenor, but they cannot have a personality. My point is that people mesh their living personality with what they *percieve* to be a board 'personality' and subsequently imbue dimensions in that board that are actually a fantasy. This is in some ways pyschologically rather like those who get involved in soap operas and actually begin to believe that the characters who appear on these shows are not acting.

Burning,
Each person would have to assess for themselves the effect, or indeed non-effect, of XJW Boards on their lives. I speak for myself.
After my first few weeks on this Board, which as do most posters I took very seriously, it dawned on me that most of us imbue a 'personality' to the Board that is actually a fantasy. Rather like trying to look at a skeleton and imagining what it was like as a living being, this site is one-dimensional. People fight against this fact until an incident such as a 'Trevor' or 'Danny' appears on the Board, that is posters who pretend for many months to be who they are not. Trevor was able to run two personalities on this Board for over a year without anybody suspecting his deception. I suspect that the real reason for the fury that ensued was the fact that the visceral view that people had of the 'personality' of this Board was shaken, not that some nut-case had defrauded them of valuable time.
The reality is that the currency of this Board is words. Words are just letters strung together in a formation that provides a common understanding. They cannot hurt you, inspire you, demean you, educate you, arouse you, 'support' you or do anything to or for you without the input of your own head. It is what happens within your own head that gives life to words. Without your own imagination and mental input, words are meaningless. So each person in reading what are just words has to add or subtract emotional value from them, it is that simple.
That is why some claim that they have been 'supported' or not 'supported' by others on this Board, entriely due to their take on WORDS. A person wishing to hear that their life is a failure due to their being a JW and not due to the fact that they might be lazy good-for-nothings for example, is much more likely to feel 'supported' by those who shred the Jehovah's Witnesses, than those who might tell them to get some excercise, get some education and get moving.
So this Board cannot do a thing to you that you do not allow it to, for good or for bad. The issue is always an internal, not an external one.
