keeping a balance in what is allowed and what is not is very difficult and is more difficult if i have to take action against one person when i have let other things go by others.. it would help a lot if we could stop the personal attacks and some of the name calling & insults that are thrown about.
i know personalities do and will clash but please disagree about the subjects being discussed and not get personal!.

Friday is indeed a paradox, by his own and WTS definitions he is not a JW. He seems to have been trapped by passing time at half mast, but one thing is for sure, a more spiteful and nasty exponent of the Christian faith it would be hard to uncover, other than perhaps, the Jarascz Beast.
Simon, perhaps you might start an on-line prison for people like Friday. He could be digitally imprisoned in a cell for the theologically insane and day tours could be run to watch him spit and snarl. Could raise a bit of cash as well.

It seems that two options are open to you, each with their own difficulties attached but it is the purpose of the Board that should eventually define your decisions.
I use the term 'average JW' below a number of times and as you think of the use of this term imagine it being applied to the normal JW sitting in the centre of the hall many finding the Internet, perhaps for the first time. Not those disfellowshipped, or disgruntled, or perhaps like most here, of a questioning frame of mind.
The attempt at controlling the use of the Internet by the WTS has without doubt failed. You can prove this Simon by noting the repeat IPS addresses of vistors to this site who do not post, or have not subscribed.
1) If your desire is NOT to attract the 'average' JW to visit and post to this Board without reeling, then the the present model of self-moderation seems to work as well as can be expected given the diverse personalities. If this is the model that sits comfortably in your own mind then perhaps the controversial header, 'Discussion Forum For Jw's etc'. should be dropped as it is misleading.
2) If your desire is to attract the 'average' JW to visit and post to this Board and learn in a more gentle manner the theological options open to them, then a firmer and more autocratic moderation might be needed.
Either way, its your Board and your responsibility to make these choices. I echo the sentiments of many others in thanking you for providing a voice to the many previously silenced ones.

A band worth more than most and who are still spitting fire are English progressive group - 'Caravan'. Superb, honest song-writing coupled with jazz quality musicianship. God Bless Canterbury University and all the magic that we cooked up in it.

Andy Powell is heavily and succesfully in production these days, always the steady man. The Turner lads are still playing and writing, though more in the Jazz genre. Cannot say too much online, mail me privately if you wish to know more.

Focus were a Dutch band. I understand that these days Thijis Van Leer is firmly entrenched back in the classics ( a la Joe Jackson). Jan Ackerman a superb inovative guitarist with Focus is playing the jazz club scene ( often the next move for past rock stars ). If you like a good guitarist Franco Mussida with Italian band PFM is one of the very best that I have met.

What is most disconcerting is that it is probably just three dozen men that control six million lives and it is quite obvious that some of these have recognised what happens to leaders who promise its citizens the earth and then gives them them slogans to feed on - thus the issue of total control.
This is their daily grapple, their control loosens and the edifice begins to rock, and the inoccent suffer in the corporate fallout.
