  Hello,

  The beard 'issue', I can assure you is of acute embarrassment to many at Senior level within the WTS in the US.

  Many, even among the CO’s and DO’s that I have discussed the situation with do not accept the official GB line of beards ‘stumbling those with ‘weak consciences’, but as usual they lack courage to make an issue of what many of them view a ‘trivial’ matter. It is trivial, but alos indicative of a much more serious theological malaise.

  I am quite certain that publicity over the fact that a JW cannot take ‘church office’ due to having a beard would create the WTS more embarrassment even than the UN/NGO fiasco, as they appreciate that the embargo cannot be justified Scriptually, and they certainly would not want the average JW questioned about the issue on their Ministry.

  It has to be noted however that the final last stand of the issue seems to be in the US, as most European countries, New Zealand and I hear even Canada have allowed the thin edge of the wedge, and appointed elders with beards.

  The average JW is far too embarrassed to even discuss the issue with a non-JW, as they appreciate as Ozzie noted above, how ridiculous the Organization looks to the public if the 'crime of beard' ever became common knowledge.

  As is the wont of most humans, discuss the WTS & the UNO and they will yawn, discuss the embargo on beards and you have an audience.

  ...that jw's have a hard time forgiving others because they themselves are rarely forgiven for their own sins.

  according to their beliefs jehovah keeps track of every detail of your life...good and bad.

  that even if you are humble and repent of your sins, that there is still no true forgiveness until the new system.

  Reading your touching post really bought to mind the infamous scripture in 2 Tim 3:3 that the WTS gleefully applies to everybody but themselves, ‘No natural affection’, NWT, ‘no normal human affections’, Phillips.

  The WTS has clearly juxtaposed themselves between the natural affection a father has for his daughter. He obviously loves your dearly Billygoat and feels that he is helping you by taking this action, that actually defies true love. It must be very hard for him as well.

  The reality is that if the WTS said it was permissible for him to show you the love and affection you desire, he would show it warmly. They control his affections. He is probably struggling hard himself to understand what has happened to his family and battling the cognitive-dissonace that most JW’s have to grapple with.

  Be patient, Billygoat, time is a great healer and is also camping around the theology of the WTS, which it has laid siege to, and which the WTS will not survive.

  they didn't mention noah, actually.

  it was about the asteroids and such that have hit the earth.

  The WTS were not the first to attach the 'quick frozen' mammoth scenario to the flood.

  As soon as the mammoths were discovered the speculation began. I actually have a paper written three years after their discovery that already alluded to the flood being responsible for the carcasses. John Whitcomb, and other YEC tried to turn the find into a science, bending both the Bible and science to fit their ideas.

  It suited the WTS writing team, who are nothing but intellectual scavengers to take some of the YEC ideas and blend them with their own.

  The asteriod proposal is one of a number of possibilities as to what really did happen, by no means proved at this point.

  Just a note. The WTS, has very few doctines of belief that are exclusive to themselves. They merely comb through pre-written works looking for scraps that suit them, and then gluing them in place to create a patchwork of theological beliefs that no person could believe unless they were cunningly manipulated into doing so.

  Even some of the WTS more 'way out' interpretations, such as the League Of Nations and UN being the 'disgusting thing that causes desolation', are not their own. Carl Jonsson, always the great researcher, dug up information to show that actually W.E.Vine { of 'parousia' fame ) was the originator of this interpretation, a decade or so before Rutherford had even sobered up long enough to light his cigar.

  As has been said before, the Bible's biggest enemies are its believers.

  do you still want to live forever?

  imagine that chance was offered to you .is it something you still desire?.

  i wonder how desriable it would be to live forever.what problems it would bring.would we want to stay married to the same person, would we get to know everyone on earth?.

  how would it effect our attitude toward life , would we get anything done knowing there was no rush?.

  Life is like money, when you have lots to spend the world is great fun, but to the bankrupt it is a misery and highly overated.

  If I were huddled in a tent in the winter blizards engulfing the Afghani mountains fighting frostbite; well today would be a good day to die.

  If I lived in the penthouse on the top floor of the Waldorf Towers, I might want to live for a little while longer...

  I think we would all want to live forever if we could on our own terms, anything apart from that is liable to a subjective viewpoint.

  Stravinsky in his late nineties once said, 'The tragic thing is I have only just begun'. If he was the guy parking his limo every night he might be saying 'The tragic thing is it never really began'.

  Creativity, exploration, curiosity are reasons why I would like to live forever. The taxman is a good reason why I would not.

  There is a little village in your neck of the woods called Marazion, it hosts a splendid pub that serves some of the strongest ales that I have ever imbued, save perhaps for the Kentish brews like 'Old Peculiar'.
