All I remember being taught at the KH was how to hate. I recall very little about love actually being taught. I recall how bros and sisters would talk about how great it would be when god destroys all of the worldly people, and how there would be this huge rejoicing and celebration. So no, they don't teach to love your enemies...only to hate, hate, hate.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses LOVE their enemies?
by Terry injesus' message differs from every other religious leader of his day in that he encouraged his followers to love their enemy.. are jw's encouraged to love their enemies?.
they aren't allowed to even pray for disfellowshipped former brethern although they are stray sheep.
you'll recall jesus said that a fine shepherd would even leave the 99 sheep to go after and return with the "stray".. how do jw's love their enemies?.

New York Post article: Study shows you're born that way (gay or straight)
by feenx in(sorry about that last post peeps, silly mac's sometimes fight with this forum :/)
brain study proves 'you are born that way' post wire services .
june 17, 2008 -- the brains of gay men and women look like those found in straight people of the opposite sex, research suggests.

Actually, there are many studies that indicate sexuality is based on genetics. One refers to the "The Fraternal Birth Order Effect" wherein the amount of older brothers increases each successive male to be gay, I think it is somewhere around 33% chance increased for each male fetus she carries. And as far as god condemning gays, it is all in how you translate things. For example, you can check out this website, this section deals with homosexuality and the bible: http://www.gayxjw.org/hombible.html

Since I am a firm believer in that people made god in their image, I think it is only natural that their deities would have the capacity for as much evil as is present within some humans.

JWs and Star Trek...
by Thylacine inone part of my experience with the jw's was that many of the elders in my congreagtion were die hard into star trek...i figured it was isolated to that one kh, but as i went to different ones, i noticed it was a lot of them.
one elder explained his fandom as: "it makes me think of the new system.
we will travel to other planets when the earth is full, and colonize the galaxy.

I was allowed to watch all of TNG EXCEPT for the episode where Deanna got pregnant, gave birth, then the child had to give up it's "human" form and leave the ship to save everything...in an odd twist it was deemed sacrilegious because it was mocking Jesus....but yeah, all the species being seeded by aliens, that one is okay. The same elder told me that God, "technically, is an Alien because isn't of this Earth." lol

Okay, so let's stick with just Adam and Eve...the FIRST Eve anyways....(Excerpt from The Hebrew Myths by Robert Graves and Raphael Patai (New York: Doubleday, 1964), pp 65-69.): "(f) Undismayed by His failure to give Adam a suitable help meet, God tried again, and let him watch while he built up a woman's anatomy: using bones, tissues, muscles, blood and glandular secretions, then covering the whole with skin and adding tufts of hair in places. The sight caused Adam such disgust that even when this woman, the First Eve, stood there in her full beauty, he felt an invincible repugnance. God knew that He had failed once more, and took the First Eve away. Where she went, nobody knows for certain. [9] (g) God tried a third time, and acted more circumspectly. Having taken a rib from Adam's side in his sleep, He formed it into a woman; then plaited her hair and adorned her, like a bride, with twenty-four pieces of jewelery, before waking him. Adam was entranced." ........My point is that the story of Adam and Eve comes from older mythologies. Whether or not that story holds significants to someone is their personal choice. FOR ME, the only significants it holds is it is an interesting story. That's what this thread is about...whether you you believe it is true of false......my $.02...

Adam and Eve...hmmmm....interesting, yet still only a STORY. Anyone know the name of Adam's First wife??? Her name was Lilith..."When the Almighty created the first, solitary man, He said: It is not good for man to be alone. And He fashioned for man a woman from the earth, like him (Adam), and called her Lilith. Soon, they began to quarrel with each other. She said to him: I will not lie underneath, and he said: I will not lie underneath but above, for you are meant to lie underneath and I to lie above. She said to him: We are both equal, because we are both created from the earth. But they did not listen to each other." So after this, Lilith got kicked out of the garden, god made Eve from part of Adam so she would be submissive. Just another take on the STORY....

Hi all. One part of my experience with the jw's was that many of the elders in my congreagtion were die hard into Star trek...I figured it was isolated to that one kh, but as I went to different ones, I noticed it was a lot of them. One elder explained his fandom as: "It makes me think of the new system. We will travel to other planets when the earth is full, and colonize the galaxy. And Star treks message was one of peace. It is very inline with true christian thought." Has anyone had similar experiences???

Insane
by RR intemperatures in new jersey were in the high 90s today and tomorrow, in some places it was 100 degrees.. so schools were let out at midday, due to the heat.. one of my customers, who is self-employed is a new recruit to the jw's.
today when i arrived at his complex (i'm a letter carrier) there he was with his young boy (around 10 or so) leaving his townhome to go out in field service.
i thought to myself, "too hot for school, but not for knocking on doors"?

One time in service (in Tucson AZ) it was well over 100, I rolled up my sleeves and the elder I was with that day smacked me upside the head and told me "I looked sloppy" and that I am making "god's people" look bad by my example. Plus we were all crammed in a small car with no a/c. Ended up with heat stroke.
