What is an apostate?
by esther inthe meaning of 'apostasy' given in my dictionary is "abandonment of religious faith, vows, principles or party".
i used to think that only cults considered leaving their religion to be apostasy, but according to my dictionary, as quoted above, everyone who changes their religion is technically an apostate.
so were those of us who changed from other religions to become jws apostates then?

The word apostate is not found in the KJV of the bible ( Just like the word trinity). And only in the Hebrew Scriptues of the NWT. The word that the NWT translates apostate is translated Hypocrite in the KJV and Godless in most other translations. The original Hebrew word is “chaneph” meaning impious - from a root word meaning pollute

607-1914 being phased out?
by Moxy inyears ago, when i first figured out the problems with the 607 chronology, i began to think that the society was mentioning the 7 times link to 1914 less and less in recent pubs.
after all, the knowledge book gave it less space than the live forever book, and the fluffy require brochure doesnt mention it all.
could it be, i wondered, that they are gradually phasing this teaching out?

God's Hero
by Norm inthose who are believers and worry about meeting gods standard for moral, ethics and general behavior seem to have very little to worry about.
at least if we are to take the bible serious.
take the example of the well know hero and judge, samson.

Norm: you fail to understand these people were Philistine, sub humans. Remember the only reason the Jews had problems with the Philistines is they didn’t gas them all in the first place as they were commanded. Anyone who doesn’t worship god is evil. God only likes sycophants.

by anglise insince drifting from the org over the last year or so i have been slowly updating my clothes.
i thought maybe it was just me who had been dressing like a middle aged matron since i was 23 but whilst talking to a young xsister recently i learnt that she too has thrown out most of the clothes she used to wear whilst a dub.. has anyone else found themselves doing this, and is it just a female thing?

Yeah Yeah I'm back
by joelbear ini couldn't stay away.
i love you guys.. abaddon's and ldh's recent posts hit close enough to home that i decided to post again.. i think the selected memory and split personalities go hand in hand.. the selected memory helps keep the cult personality happy and gleaming no matter what damage the suppression does to the real human or the real human's family and friends.. a couple of years ago i was talking about my childhood with my parents and they both acted stunned when i said i was still angry with them because they didn't want me to go to college (i gave up several scholarship offers, etc.
to become a pioneer and eventually go to bethel).
