one of the big environmental/jobs controversies is the keystone pipeline which would bring oil and natural gas from canada and the tar sands to the us and the refiners near the gulf.. www.htlp://news.yahoo.com/protesters-circle-white-house-oil-pipeline-row-00062747.html.
how do you feel about this project.
have any here been to the tar sands sites.
"The Canadian firm behind the controversial Keystone XL pipeline reapplied Friday for a presidential permit to ship crude oil from the oil sands fields of Alberta to the United States, reigniting a national debate over how to meet the nation’s energy needs."

THIS is the perfect trolling thread.
the lying, the faking and pretending, the hiding, the endless mind-numbing meetings, service, preaching, assemblies, everything!.
most of the time i can handle it quite well.
but not today.
I think you have what it will take to make some new friends.
for your information, not all cults are destructive as may be generally assumed.
as a therapist, i will list the folowing points as reasons why some cults may be healthy, especially the jw organisation.. 1) their stand on material prosperity shields their members from unnecessary worries of life.
their constant emphasis on simple life prevents you from entering into debt-imposed problems safeguarding you from the possibilities of sleepless night, financial stress and the rest .. 2) their behavioural control mechanism helps to constantly keep your lives in checks and balance by injecting sanity into your conscious being.. 3) reporting you deviant thoughts, feelings, and actions to leaders helps to coordinate your life and brings it in conformity to impeccable manners(the desire of every sane human mammal).. 4) their extensive use of cult generated information and propaganda constantly triggers your consciousness for the need to do things right (a positive reinforcement).. 5) their ethical use of confession makes you see that the universe cares for you and you are not alone in the grand scheme of things.. 6) their loaded languages offers you feelings of belonging, which we all aspire in a secluded and socially quarantined world.. .
mankelli?
this is one that i've been struggling with since i started hanging out here.
when you get on a thread and quote a scripture with a comment to make a point, the believers who have never been jw's often knee jerk reaction jump all over it, and in essensce say that you cannot understand the passage because you are not a believer like them.. it's as if they are saying what is written and what you have learned about certain passages are automatically wrong just because you were taught from a jw perspective, or that you lack basic reading comprehension.
i agree many of the jw teachings are off, but i can certainly respect more of their interpretations of scriptures than i can of other christian denominations.
tootired2care: Thanks for the clarification. It's all nonsense to me, too.

God is allowing this for a time to give people a chance to repent before he destroys the worlds institutions and wicked
You're asking some good questions. This is a good thing. Keep searching, researching, meditating, etc. Also, research 'Logical Fallacies' if you get a chance. This can be helpful.
This 'time' that he is 'allowing' as you suggest above allows hundreds of millions of additional Asians to be born, that must be later slaughtered at Armageddon (according to JW and much other apocalyptic Christianity).
If God is what they say he is, he doesn't need to prove anything to anyone. He can stand on the deck of the Enterprise and say 'make it so' and it happens.
Your current theory puts the blame for what we see on the planet today with a naked woman and a piece of fruit. With further investigation, you may discover that you really don't buy this. It didn't withstand scrutiny, for me.
Placing the fate of mankind on Adam and Eve would be like locking toddlers in a small workshop and giving them power tools. Only a monster would do such a thing.
Just my two cents.

I like very little American music from the 80's, and this places me well outside the mainstream of my generation (born mid-70's).
