Emery: You've come a long way. Ray's books were a game-changer for me, too. I'm curious, have you read Hassan's first book? You may enjoy it. It helped me to understand *why* seven million people could believe things that are demonstrably false. It allowed me to move past the details of doctrine, and understand the way people in high-control groups think.

Will they get rid of the FDS concept?
by Hermano inwhat do they need the fds concept for?
it's a weak idea, based on one scripture which is a rhetorical question.
they've already published several articles indicating that just because you are annointed doesn't mean you have any special insight, so they've already disconnected annointed from leadership.

The FDS is represented by the GB.
Doctrine is irrelevant.
Where else would they go?

The only way to properly run a cult is to have an authoritarian leadership structure. The FDS provides this. God only deals with them. Top-down. Individual members are not important.

Interview with a Scientology Insider
by leavingwt inthe village voice has published an interview with a 32-year member of the church of scientology who left in 2010. .
but until now, i've never told brousseau's entire story as a 32-year member of scientology and the last person to escape from the international base who is talking publicly about it.. in some ways, brousseau's tale is one of the most remarkable to come out of the secretive organization, and one that parallels so much of scientology's own development and controversies.
he and miscavige were brothers in law.

The Village Voice has published an interview with a 32-year member of the Church of Scientology who left in 2010.
But until now, I've never told Brousseau's entire story as a 32-year member of Scientology and the last person to escape from the International Base who is talking publicly about it.
In some ways, Brousseau's tale is one of the most remarkable to come out of the secretive organization, and one that parallels so much of Scientology's own development and controversies.
He and Miscavige were brothers in law. They were both young cameramen working for Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard during his movie-making phase. Brousseau was Hubbard's personal chauffeur and helped maintain the cloak of secrecy when Hubbard vanished for good. He watched Miscavige transform Scientology and turn its base into a prison camp. He worked for Tom Cruise, which included serving in the household with Cruise and Katie Holmes. And having worked closely with both Cruise and Miscavige, he has choice things to say about the nature of their relationship.
There are few people, in other words, more qualified to provide a front-row seat to what the Church of Scientology has been through since 1977. And this is his story.

Could UFO Disclosure Bring About A Golden Age?
by metatron inthere are a great many people - and internet sites- that preach a sort of 2012/ufo gospel.
while they may contradict one another, they mostly teach that ufo's will intervene and save us, especially if governments admit that they exist.. yeah, ok..... been there, heard that..... but could there be a core of truth to this idea?.
what would happen if the world acknowledged that et's exist?.

Thanks to everyone on this forum!
by cedars intoday is my first anniversary as a jwn member.
it's hard to believe that only a year has passed since i joined, but i feel that's a testament to how much i have been welcomed and made to feel like part of the furniture.. i would very much like to take this opportunity to thank everyone on the forum for the immense help and assistance i have received, particularly in my first few weeks/months of posting.
it truly was a lifeline at a very distressing time for me.

Happy Anniversary!
Also, here a nickel's worth of free advice, that you haven't asked for.
Take it easy. Be kind to yourself, Lord. The WT will be going strong when we're all dead. Pursue your dreams and leave the cult in your rearview mirror.
You could probably use a break, hence my advice.

What leads a person to think they are inspired by God?
by jwfacts inthere seems no end of people claiming to be inspired.
there are numerous holy books claiming to have been handed to their writers by god.
these days a person writing their own holy book is likely to be met with scepticism (unless you are a scientologist), so people tend to claim to be inspired to interpret older holy books.

For some, the explanation is hallucinations. There are many documented explanations for hallucinations.
