Oh, I forgot to mention this 'brother' was an elder and his wife was a pioneer.

Being shunned by JW's who you know have done worse than you
by milligal inokay-here's one i was thinking about the other day-after reading some of your posts.
have you ever been shunned by a jw who you know was doing (or had done) some really devious things?
for instance when i was df'd the first person to give me the five minute long evil eye at the grocery store was a sister who had five children by two different fathers and a sixth child who was molotto (she was white) and she insisted that she had no idea why he came out so dark skinned.....she was never df'd.

I was disfellowshipped in the early 90's for immoral behavior-I later married my temptation. But I digress, my best friend was also DF'd. We would ride to the meetings together and sit with one another. There was a brother at the hall who referred to our usual spot as "Disfellowhip Row." His wife was the type who would always give you dirty looks and felt it was her job to remind you of your bad standing in the congregation. The first few times she looked at me, I was taken back a bit, then I started to intentionally sit near her and made sure when she was looking at me, I gave her a dirty look back. But the funny thing, well, not so funny but more ironic, is that her husband later was DF'd for a Homosexual relationship he had with a Younger (under 18) brother at the hall. They got divorced. Years later, My husband and I saw him at a Nightclub and he was totally out there!! We spoke and couldn't believe how life goes in a full circle. What goes around really does come back around.

Yes, thanks. Not very computer literate, despite working with them daily. Maybe I should get my 10 y old son to see what I did wrong. :)

He said that the GB used a 2/3's vote to enact new policies, etc. Is this still true today? Has the GB changed it up to make Franz look like he was being untruthful?

So, I've been reading and looking up stuff. I haven't had a chance to read the "crisis of conscience' yet but was wondering something. Franz wrote that book back in the 1980's right? The way of getting new policies in the Society are by a 2/3's vote? Has this changed as of 2008? Does anyone know if that is how they still do it? I was wondering if they tried to change it up based on the information that was in Ray Franz book to prove him untrue.

I never had any doubts. Until about two months ago. I am inactive and always thought I would go back one day. My husband is done. He' goes to the Memorial each year but that's it. Now, I'm not so sure.

It's made me physically ill. My husband, who quit going years ago, is now at peace with the situation. He's been helpful . I'm just trying to get all of these facts and my emotions in some sort of order. It's overwhelming but yet I am not bitter and have no desire to bash or bad mouth them. Not all of my upbringing or experiences were bad . But I know that others were traumatized by how things were/are and feel terrible for them that they have to deal with that.

I am shocked and saddened by the things that I have learned from this website and a few others I've seen. My grandma was a witness and my mom started to study seriously when I was 8 yrs. I was baptised at 13-way too young. I met my husband when I was 16. His dad is an elder and his mom a pioneer. His upbringing was much stricter than mine. He's so upset now at how he was raised that he can't see straight. I was disfellowshipped when I was 21 and reinstated when I was 24. I went on and off the to hall for most of my 20's and 30's. I'm now 40 and stunned by some of the things I've discovered- the UN membership- the blood fraction issue, the 'Generation' thing- the changing of policy on disfellowshipping and family, the college thing. I'm not bitter about my upbringing. She instilled in me some very good morals, work ethic and the ability to get along with others-all bible based. But the imposing personal beliefs on others is not right-such as the college issue, intimate matters between married persons, no sports/extracurricular activities for school age kids, etc. And let's not talk about the big issues. It's just too much for me to digest but I can't quit investigating the whole thing.. Everything I have ever been taught has now been questioned.
