Yes-I do. I did when I was a witness -although I lived daily with the guilt of never doing enough.. I have always been comfortable with myself and fairly confident. Today- I am much more at ease with myself as far as my decision making.

We had an elder that said some forms of kissing were fornication. This same elder wanted everybody to pronounce "Isaiah" the same way the brother reading it on the bible tapes pronounced it. That guy is from England/Scottland/Ireland(sorry, not sure) and not Midwest United States. He would even correct people while he was on the stage if they mispronounced it. He was such an a**hole.

untitled
by BorgHater ini always think about the thousands of jw's who have lost thier lives over the years by refusing blood transfusions, but sometimes i forget about all those poor witnesses who died in concentration camps during ww2.
when i was a jw i would comfort myself with the thought that although those brothers suffered, they were doing it for jehovah.
now i realise what a needless, tragic waste of precious human life that really was it makes me so sad.

One year and 3 months ago, I would have refused a blood transfusion for my sons. I think about that now and get sick to my stomach. I am furious that the WTBS continues to lie to the people. And I am furious that they lied to me. My heart goes out to all who have had that decision before them.

Halloween
by wantstoleave ini live in a country where this isn't typically a big event, and only in recent years have more started doing the whole 'trick or treat' thing.
however, i have been invited to a halloween party.
i've never participated in it before.. problem is this: i am still scared of my parents, they are a big part of my life, and know most of everything i do.

I celebrated Halloween for the first time last year. I didn't look at it as an evil day or a day to worship the dead. I took it for what it was-a day where people dress up, have parties, are in a festive mood and kids go trick or treating. It was fun! My son (11 years) loved it. We are looking forward to celebrating it this year as we will be more prepared.
I will admit, initially, I was a bit apprehensive about it. It was awkward at first. Then I realized that the WTBS is full of crap and all I had been taught by them was incorrect. I Knew I was NEVER going back to the KH or WTBS. I am agnostic now and have no qualms whatsoever about the holidays. But not all feel that way and I respect whatever people may believe
I say go, have fun and enjoy it. Your kids will love it!!! And let us know how you all enjoyed it.
Take Care,
Susan

Why don't they publish the Daily Text themselves? I never understood that. Now, I could care less. Seems like if they wanted to reach 'everyone' they should be using all resources-radio, TV, Satellite radio, etc...

One of the first major things I did was get back in touch with my aunt-she's two years younger than me. We grew up like sisters. She was baptised as a witness in 1993 and later on in 2005 became a baptized Mormon. I was devastated that she had done that and as a good JW, I quit talking to my apostate aunt. As soon as I opened my eyes with regard to the WT, I called her and made peace. She cried, I cried, and we met for lunch within a few days of that call and have never looked back. I also took my son trick or treating for the first time.

Question about your spouse or ex
by bluecanary ini've noticed we have a few male posters here with wives who are still in the jws.
and i can think of one female poster (cognac) with a husband in the jws (although things are looking up for her).
of course we have a few spouses that came out together.. is it me, or does it seem like the women here are more likely to have divorced their jw husband--even before leaving--whereas the men are more likely to stay with their wives?

My husband and me have both faded. He faded first and tried desperately to get me to see the light-that didn't work-it. I was a diehard and it caused many arguments between us. Some years I stumbled onto this site and the rest is history. I was able to show him some stuff about the organization that he didn't know(voting, UN, Blood policy) I totally cut the WTBS-ha ha WT BS( watchtower bullsh*t) out of my life. Life for us and our kids is so much better! Thank you JWD!!
