I completely agree. I'm sick of her and their commercials. It's time for a new ad.

Progressive Insurance Woman
by RubaDub incan't think of her name right now (she's a comedienne), but i think i have had about enough with the progressive insurance ads.
they seem to be everywhere, all the time.. i guess there is a ton of money to be made when every other commercial on tv seems to be an insurance company hawking its products (progressive, geico, etc, etc, etc).. rub a dub.

SISTERS ON THE RAMPAGE!!
by highdose init was well commented on by the older ones in the borg that the sisters were on the rampage when it came to trying to get themselves married.. it was normal practice for sisters in the same click or age group to visvously stab eachother in the back, exlude them as much as possible from social events and gossip about them as much as possible.
by the time i had left this was such an established practice that it seemed normal.. all this in the hopes that they would be able to bag one of the rare single and sane brothers... at least this is what it was like in my part of the world... what about yours?.

My friend's husband cheated on her and she got divorced in 1993 . She is still single and really wants to be remarried so bad. I feel sorry for those 'sisters' who are single and trying to live according to that religion. It's ridiculous.

Magwitch-I'm sorry that guy was such an a**hole!! How can they be so callous to the sufferings of others? It is certainly not what Jesus would have done. Shame on them. Sorry about the loss of your brother.

My dad, who wasn't baptised, didn't really want much to do with the witnesses but went to the hall with my mom to make her happy. He hadn't been to the hall in a while 'cause he was working mandatory overtime at work(General Motors). With some of the extra money, he bought a new TV. When the elder and his wife who had been 'mentoring' our family came over, they were furious.
The elder said to my dad, "Tom, we haven't see you lately," My dad replied that he had been working mandatory overtime(this was the early 80's when GM had it going on.) The elder said, "Well, it's more important to go to the meetings than work OT-even if it's mandatory. I see you've bought a new televison. That was a stupid, wasteful purchase." His wife made the comment that they didn't even have a tv at their house. My dad went off on the elder-told him it was none of his business how he spent his money or what his work schedule was, was this elder going to pay his bills, etc, etc..!!! The elder and his wife were very quiet and left shortly after.
My dad never went regularly to the meetings after that. He would go to the Memorial but that's it. I wish he would have forbidden all of us to go.

PARENTING AS A XBORG ORG .........HOW DIFF IS IT FOR YOU?
by freewilly01 ini am a proud parent of a great kid..........fortunately raised as a non jw .. i could see at an early age that manipulation and control just wasn't working for me as a parent.. i remember calling at a door years ago ( i can still remeber the exact door and neighbourhood, so it left quite the impression on me) the householder said simply : thats just wrong to bring your child with you they are way too young to be brought into a religious debate and to take sides on issues like this , where's your head at?
i remember thinking whew where is my head at?.
then i recalled that friends of ours in a local congregation where chastised by an overly aggressive judgemental elder, one of those who didn't allow their kids to watch tv or wear any clothing that might be construed as worldly.. he accused our friends 14 yr old daughter of looking like a prostitute because her skirt was two inches above her knee.

My parenting as an ExJW is much more logical. It was hard to explain about Holidays and bday parties, not playing sports or going to college. When my 17y son asks why me and his dad didn't go to college, we tell him the JW's reasons why and he just looks at us like we are crazy.
I am more relaxed as a parent than my mom was. Sometimes, it's difficult to talk to your kid about birth control or drugs, etc, but I feel good in telling them the practical stuff and not the 'dub' stuff. Just say no doesn't work for a 17y old boy with raging hormones. And I'm proud to say that my boys are good, responsible, smart, athletic young men!!

Sexual abuse and how the WTS handles it - 2 issues that get confused
by Lady Lee inthe wts proudly proclaims that its 2-witness rule is sufficient to deal with cases of sexual abuse.
and internally they would have the right to hold to that policy.. but they fail to separate the internal handling of the case with the external -- going to the authorities.
the wts uses it 2 things to stop jws from going outside the congregation.. they believe their policy is higher than the world's policies on dealing with the abuse.

I find this board therapeutic. When I first left the WTBS, I was obsessed with JWD. It really helped me to see the real truth about that organization. I would never go back. I like reading this board for the reminders as to why I left and why I am going to stay away forever from them.
