  A sister was reading her examining the scriptures one morning.............

  I was told this very same "experience" at least 30 years ago! Even as a youngster I never believe the story.

  Not only because of the previouisly stated reasons but what got me was...how the hell did he know who the sister was?

  He hid under the bed the whole time!

  i don't know about ya'll, but i did not appreciate the 1980s enough.

  i was too busy lamenting how different they were from the 1960s and 1970s to bask in and appreciate how wonderful they were.. this is 80s music, especially new wave music, and 80s fashion and culture appreciation thread.

  I love the 80's! I went to see Depeche Mode, MC Hammer and Luther Vandross in concert. Culture Club, Rick Springfield, Flock of Seagulls, Michael Jackson, Prince, Jon Bon Jovi were some of my favorites. I met my hubby at school when i was 16 yrs. and he was 17 yrs.

  I graduated high school in 1986. No college-never even considered it. And that is one of the few regrets I have in life.

  It's funny to see some of the styles that were popular then come back in style today.

  Craziest demon/magic/supernatural stories you heard when you were a JW

  share yours, i'll start if off, i have a few i heard from the platform or from other jw's.

  one from the platform, a witch was studying with jw's, and she had a relationship with demons/spirits.

  when she was studying they turned on her and threatened her if she didn't stop.

  I heard one years ago: A woman was studying with the JW's. She had made a call to a psyhic phone line prior to her bible study. When the sister and her companion arrive , they say a prayer before the study starts and all of a sudden---the pictures on the walls start spinning and the TV goes on and off. The woman then admits that she called the psyhic line and talked with them. True story---true in that someone really repeated it to me-ha ha!

  i was baptized at the age of 11. like most of us, my commitment wasnt to honor god but rather i was gang pressed into the service of the wtbts.

  and, at such a young age, it was impossible for me to appreciate the enormity of my actions.

  honestly, how could i possibly have known any better?

  My DF'd father going in for cancer surgery

  in january or february of this year, my father was df'd for viewing pornography.

  he was diagnosed with a rare-ish lung cancer in august, it doesn't have good recovery odds.

  he had been struggling with a porn problem for awhile, asking the 'brothers' for help.

  Bovine blood in lieu of human blood? What's the story with this?

  my mom is in the hospital with internal bleeding.

  she has agreed, much to my surprise, to accept the blood alternative of bovine blood.

  i've never heard of it but it appears that the jw hospital liason elders told her about it and that it was a conscious matter.

  Anyone out there who can give me some insight about this?

  My family was the only white family in our congregation for many years. There was one mexican family and the rest of the hall was black and that congregation was my favorite ever. It was friendly, outgoing and just plain fun! When the territories were reconfigured, they sent us to a different congregation that was mostly white. I found it to be the complete opposite and hated it!

  i had a flash back yesterday.

  my non jw husband and i went to disneyland and bought my young daughter a set of 7 dwarf toys.

  after a few months i felt guilty and threw them away, thinking they were demonized.

  I have tossed out a few things, much to my embarrassment.

  A full boxed collection of the Harry Potter book series..

  A magazine some Muslim men 'placed' with my husband

  A sweater i was given that had some flags on it from several countries.

  How foolish to think these inanimate objects would haunt me or come alive.
