is there really no way of getting through to these people??
life is really too short for putting up with this ignorant kind of behaviour.
we, as ex-jws know how theyre thinking works, surely if we are going to have to endure shunning for the remainder of our lives we must do/say something to arouse their clear thinking abilities.

the bubble factor in being a witness
about two days ago after i had the pleasure of listening to my housemate verbally pound a couple of unlucky witnesses who knocked on our door.
i was sitting in my easy chair this evening eating a piece of apple pie and was struck by this overwhelming revelation, almost an epiphany.
Witnesses live almost entirely "in" that bubble environment, looking at themselves as if they were a character in a movie called Im a Jehovahs Witness.
How true, I remember those days thinking as though I'm always being watched. At a door a householder might ask or state something that I would consciously know is true but contrarry to WT dogma.I could feel my brain fighting to say what was "right" according to the WT, all the time knowing that something was off kilter.

the pedophile problem among the jws is very significant.
over a year ago i made some extrapolations from a poll on jwd that conservatively suggested about 5,300 jw molesters in the usa, or about (1) jw pedophile for every (2) jw congregations in the united states.
given that pedophiles molest many victims, at least 70 or more in their criminal careers by conservative estimates, this can add up to a lot of victims --- not all are necessarily jw victims --- but still the collective crimes of jw pedophiles would average over 370,000 victims.. since that time that over 5,000 victims have come forward to email, phone, and write letters to silentlambs --- as stated last night on connie chung/cnn.
Amazing;
Given the numbers cited for recurring offenders, I would be just as outraged if the number were one victim per offender.
Yes, I also know of JW perpetrators that victimized children and I have reported them to authorities, although anonymously for fear of WT retribution.
In my opinion the more number of victims willing to come forward will receive the most attention in the press. The alarming fact is that there are a lot of victims among the Witnesses.
The cover-up tactics in the name of the WT god is the worst offense of the WT. This fact should be publicized as accurately and as often as possible.

So what does that have to do with silencing an abuse victim?

The show was well done, anything to make unsuspecting potential converts slam the door is good to see.
Also: Bleep, if you were ever an elder for any length of time you would know without a doubt the information presented on CNN ,in regards silencing victims, was accurate.

i was telling the guys this morning here a work about the cnn show and how in the mind of jw all this public attention for so many of them is often viewed as bible prophecy being fulfilled in their behalf.
i dare say that in a typical congo of 120 publishers only 4or 5 if that will stop and consider what all this means.
so one of the guys asked how is that possible with all this stuff going on.i explained to him he needs to understand the indoctrination process for the avg jw.
JT;
I can hear your talk as if I were still there.
> " I used to say in talks all the time that it is ONLY JW WHO are mentioned in the news, and how Satan is trying to make Jah look bad for example Michael Jackson, almost in every article on MJ they mentioned his faith and I would often ask from the platform " <
Now I realize the religion of a celebrity that is or becomes a Witness is mentioned by the media because Witnesses are looked at as a nutty cult.

everybody has their own timetable when it comes to leaving the organization.
some due to family and friends continue indefinetly.
others, when they see all the lies of the "truth", leave right away.

What's your story?

anybody remembers 'mr.
coffee' an agitator @ bethel c. 1980's.
he was a bum(?
I remember him, I heard he was hit by a WT truck and won a settlement. The WT should be proud of men like him, he made opposers of the time look real intelligent.

the recent kidnapping and rescue of two ca teenage girls was a dramatic event.
life and death was at it's threshold for both girls for twelve hours.
these two young ladies did not know each other and were thrust into a situation where they were able to communicate by drawing letters on each others hands at times.

>" but you forget 1 important thing.....if they were JW's , they wouldn't been at lover's lane with their boyfriends.And everthing would have been alright.",
Your right, this point I made covered it:
"The JW's would be placing blame of the victims because of what they were doing at the time of the abduction."
Neonmadman;
> "But the really important question is, did they scream while he was doing it?" <
How true.

well, it seems from the responses to the weekend poll that being a regular meeting attender was not a protection from apostasy!!
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=33757&site=3
strange that the wts should always 'encourage' regular meeting attendance for protection.
Ozzie;
> "What do you think? Were the meetings a protection against 'wicked apostate thinking'? " <
Not in my case, I was at every meeting (27 years) up untill a few months before I left and never looked back.
