for quite a while now, the watchtower has been reacting to.
severe controversies with ambiguous replies.. this is a dramatic change from the decades when they plainly.
expressed their views on neutrality, the u.n., and blood.. it was felt that to do otherwise violated the sacred responsibility.

the latest issue of the watchtower carries this statement:.
"because of the poor economic conditions in some parts of the world, many struggle to provide the bare necessities of life for their families............ many of our christian brothers and sisters are in that situation.
without help from fellow believers, they simply could not afford such things as christian publications or suitable kingdom halls.
Ozziepost,
Good points. Second Corinthians chapter eight looks to me as to be talking about a spiritual equalizing, not monetary. 8:2 does mention poverty but the remainder of the chapter looks to be leaning towards spiritual understandings especially 8:8-9. That's the big WT always looking for the money.
The WT always pats themselves on the back with this one, and denouncing others as selfish, and they don't even have it right.

They want to "serve Jehovah" was mentioned many times. The witness mentality cannot separate the WT, GB, from their tenet of god. The teachings of C.T. "Kook" Russell and onward intertwined the two with the idea that they are the exclusive channel of god. Regardless of what they claim, the two are not the same and never will be. So I would say the majority of Witnesses are having pipe dreams induced by cult mind control. The disturbing part is they think ,NOW, that the stepping over many bodies is something to look forward to, then building a house or welcoming people.
This type of thinking is very similar to the extremist Muslims, where they would have many virgins to cater to their needs after death. We know the WT teaches you may not have to die to see your reward, so they put their spin on it, it's still an extreme teaching. The framework is in place for the WT to say almost anything and the followers will believe it. Many Witnesses are giving up their lives, goals and dreams, and replacing them with so called "spiritual goals" and a puffed up ego that allows them to stick their nose in the air at all others not believing as they do. It's a house of cards people, the bottom card is being pulled out, many will leave and less will come in, where educated of the facts.

it been very interesting reading all this ngo business.. i haven't had time to read all the info.. what i want to know is this why did the society decide to associate itself with the un?.
what does it get out of the relastionship?.
are they using the un's dpi simply to get information to write about in their magazines, saving them the hassle of writing and researching their own material?.
Sleepy,
One possible reason would be to further their preaching work in other countries. They can point to the UN affiliation as a way to show how main stream they are.
We know it's a smoke screen and a cover up that will bite them in the ass for a while. The WT will just proclaim "new light" has risen forth. When say, a witness house painter can't paint a church without getting df't the hypocrisy is blatantly obvious. Also remember, it's OK to lie to further the interests of the WT.

while responding to another post, i started to wonder how many other current or former elders out there have also seen the high turnover rate among elders.
before i left the jws a couple of years ago, i was an elder for about 4 years and within that time i saw the local elder body drop from eight to four people.
even before that it seemed that the elder body had a revolving door on it.
Roybatty,
Once one becomes an elder, you think you are in such a coveted position. Isn't it amazing some, after a while realize the WT are just power hungry dictators. They use so-called privileges to set the hook and lead you ragged and tired and will spit you out after years of loyal service. After 10 tears being an elder, I can truly say I hate the WT ways and will never return.
HCM
p.s. tears (years) was a typo but I think I'll leave it.
here are some questions i have prepeared for my elders if and when they deside to visit me.. anymore you can suggest?.
questions?.
1. gentile times.. a. why do we believe in such a thing as the gentile times?
Sleepy,
Your questions make lot of sense. May I add just one?
How do the diaper laden old men, the gb, prove they are any more inspired of god than a pile of fresh laid dog shit ?

this article in todays sunday times.

Englishman,
Thank you for posting this.

made this point on another post.. i have heard repeatedly that what happened in nyc doesn't concern the rest of the world.. .
but, while watching a show on tlc last night, some really made the issue clear about whether the rest of the world needs to be involved.. they interviewed a high-ranking government official in nairobi, kenya.. this man was reminiscing on the fact that during the bombing attacks on the us embassy in 1998, osama bin laden was willing to sacrifice 288 kenyan lives to kill just 12 americans.
over 5,000 were wounded.
Lisa,
Good points.
Commie Chris,
How do you know if all Americans believe the "absurd lie" sentence quote from you below?
>>"If Americans want to go on believing the absurd lie that their foreign policy promotes freedom and democracy rather than oppression and violence, and are not prepared to look seriously in their own government's complicity in the cycle of violence, they should not expect widespread support in a one-sided, self-serving "war on terrorism"."<<
Are you blaming the victims of terrorism for their governments alleged "oppression and violence"? I view terrorist acts as someone coming in my home at night with ill intent, and would do all I could to prevent harm to my family. Wouldn't you? Well we know your not from the United States, but where would you be if terrorists struck Canada? Would you run and complain or would you support in thought at least? If Canada were to need support the United states would be there without a doubt.
Maybe you should try a little trip to Afghanistan.
