  most of us often wonder with amazement how we ever got caught up in the jehovah's witnesses mind control after having been out for awhile.

  and we still wonder how some of our relatives stay trapped inside it.

  well, steve hassans book " releasing the bonds " explains briefly in chapter 4 how it can happen.

  I'm a “once a yearer” for looking here so appreciate your bumping it-up. I joined the witness cult at 17 just before high school graduation. I had the Vietnam era draft looming down my neck and the dubs had all the answers. After some 20 years in I'd had it with nonsense and for years the book "1984”,advised reading by a high school teacher, always came to mind. I realize now why I cringed every time I heard the word CULT subconsciously I sensed the mind control. Unfortunately one hates to admit wasting a lifetime with falsehoods and chasing windmills. Steve Hassan's description of high control groups and cult behavior made the light brighter for me.

  JW says the end of religion is beginning to happen!

  when talking to my jw friend.... she asked me if i had seen the news about businesses now not putting up xmas deco's etc.

  this is so as not to offend people of other religions ie jw's and muslims etc.. she said this is going to lead to (a start of) the banning of all religions worldwide!?.

  i said i think it shows more tolerance and respect for other religions.... that is not how she sees it (or any other jw's that have been discussing it).. what are your thoughts on this.

  Adulterers are Worse than Pedophiles

  ....at least according to jehovahs witnesses.. if a sister at the kingdom hall suspect her hubby is playing naughty with another woman and she finds her hubbys car has been parked at anothers womans house all night, then she can write a letter stating she is sure that adultry has taken pace and divorce him, and he is then disfellowshipped, and she still remains in good standing..............but,.

  if a child tells their parents and the brothers at the kingdom hall that they were molested sexually by a brother at the hall, and this accused brother denies this accusation and there is no other witnesses to this claim, then he is veiwed as not guilty and remains in good standing.. why do you suppose the accused adulterer is treated differently.....even if he denies that he commited adultry?.

  Is it any wonder, is anyone truly suprised that the vast majority of men would side with the abuser/pedophile/incestuous father over the child? The abuser/pedophile/incestuous father looks good, presents a good image, has a plausible excuse for every accusation. But more importantly, it would take time, effort and a lot of courage to wade into that situation. To do so goes contrary to what I've posted above, as well as it would detract from selling the literature. God forbid! We can't have that.

  As I used to sit there early on I thought if the "new system" is like these meetings I can’t take it. Something had to be different after all it was "paradise we were waiting for. The more drivel the GB put out about their perception on their future soon now "paradise" it made me shudder. I could not put up with the thought of being in such a confining place any longer or forever.

  I'm scared and I need help

  so, i think next week is when i find out if i am approved to be an ms. if not, thank god, but if i am, i'm in deep crap.

  elder dad is confident that i'll accept, but my plan is to try to get out of it by saying that i want to finish school and get an aa degree, at least, before accepting more responsibilities.

  Chameleon,

  Tell them you don't like the ministry at all. You feel guilty with a position of responsibility feeling like this and trying to be an example to others.

  Stick to that line and severely cut your hours down to single digits do not give in and stay this course it will work.

  I remember this letter and we had a plan, between the local elders, to lateral pass the files from one to another in order to hide them from authorities if necessary. No one would have tried to stop a warrant search but would not give consent to a voluntary search.
