since there is so much confusion among ex-jw's, jw's, and christians in general about exactly what the trinity doctrine is, i decided to post this to clarify this teaching.. the historical trinity doctrine of the christian (protestant and catholic) churches has always been this:.

* there is only one true god by nature.. * there are three distinct persons who share equally the nature of god.. * there are not three different gods (that is the false doctrine of tritheism or polytheism).. * there is not one person who is revealed three different ways (that is the false doctrine of modalism).. * however, each person of the trinity does have his own "role" or "function.

Probably, when explaining the Trinity, I think that it is better to say, "Jesus is LORD" (or "Jesus is God"), IMHO.

Then, I think that Trinitarians should just explain that "LORD" is "Kyrios" in Greek and it is "Jehovah" in the Old Testament (LXX).
That is because he is "I AM" in essence.

From a viewpoint of the Trinity, since Jesus is "I AM", we can also say, "Jesus is Jehovah."
That is because the Trinity accepts only ONE God. (NOT three Gods)

But even if that is right, since "the Son" is clearly different from "the Father", I have said that Jesus is not Jehovah.

And "Jehovah" is the name of "the Father" although it is the point which many Trinitarians misunderstand.
It is not the common name of "the Father", "the Son", and "the Holy Spirit."

That "the Son" has the name of "Jesus" clearly.
If not so, he must have been clearly called "Jehovah" in the New Testament.

Science in the bible......

last week my wife and i were returning from a trip to the store and she starts talking about how amazing the bible is and how one should really not need to take any science classes, cause everything that one needs to know is in the bible.

she sites the creation story on how it is all in the bible that there was first water, then earth, then vegetation.........i really did not even know how to reply.

i asked her if she ever really critically read genesis for what it said, it is an interesting story, but there are many inconsistencies and even contradictions within the written word.....but of course she attributes that to the mistakes of man recording the information, since every word of the bible is of course inspired by jehovah.

IMHO, originally, the Bible is a book which should not be interpreted literally.
So, if a sensible person reads it, he will understand that description of Genesis is a "fable." (I think)

For instance,
The serpent which talks (Genesis 3:1),
The God which walks in the garden (Genesis 3:8),
A sword that was turning itself continually (Genesis 3:24),
People's age (Genesis 5:27), etc...

I have not denied value of the Bible now.
(I always interpret the Bible symbolically and figuratively.)

Furthermore, even if the Bible is marvelous, it does not mean that Jehovah's Witnesses are right.

Since I do not speak English at all, it is very difficult for me to explain the Trinity to you in detail.

Furthermore, I am not a Trinitarian.
And I do not believe the Trinity.
(This shows that I do not believe that "the literal human being Jesus" (historical Jesus) is God.)

And naturally, I have explained repeatedly that I interpret the Bible entirely symbolically and figuratively.
If it says from that viewpoint of mine, that "I will reside in the midst of you" is natural.
It is because the address of my website and blog itself is "God presence within."

So, when you ask me about the Trinity, I have to quit from that "original my own view."

* Each of the Three Persons is called "Jehovah" (or "Yahweh") and "God" in the Bible.

* Jesus IS Jehovah, but He is NOT The Father or The Spirit.

Although your explanation is almost correct, I think that the above-mentioned point is clearly incorrect, IMHO.

In the Trinity doctrine, Jesus is not Jehovah.
I explained it repeatedly until now.

When Jehovah IS Jesus, it is contradictory to that explanation "He is NOT The Father."
"Jehovah" is the name of the father of Jesus.

If you do not understand this correctly, logical thinking of Jehovah's Witnesses will refuse the Trinity.
Even if you explain kindly, "Jesus was NOT praying to Himself", it is because it will be the meaning "Jehovah was praying to Jehovah."
