Does the name Harry Peloyan ring a bell? Could be Mid West or East also.

My daughter was born in Oct. 1974. Everyone was in almost a frenzy about 1975. I heard of many who sold or got rid of their beds and mattresses in order to sleep on the floor and "get used to it."

My heartfelt sympathy to you! We had to put down our 18 year old Orange Tabby a few months ago -- he survived at least 9 lives, and several moves. He was our pal and will always be missed.

Witnessing =Dirty Householders/bible studies yuck remember??
by Witness 007 inwe had a bible study women who collected all the qaurter left bottles of coke and would "recycle" them into one bottle.
a couple we studied with would give us coffee with lipstick on the cup after removing the cigrette buts and a quick rinse!
a study gave me a glass of water which was brownish looking....tasted awful.

Our small town had several of these types. One family lived in a garage while they "built" the rest of the house, never quite finishing it. The other was a family who may have had JWs in their background. Both mom and dad smoked and hit the American Legion Hall (Bar) every day before coming home. I studied with their kids....they had no heat in the house (back East winters) and a 40 plus year old parrot who had the run of the "house" -- another unfinished work of art -- unfinished rooms, "stuff" everywhere, smells, cats, slipcovers, so gross, but I was "counting time" -- and I truly loved their 3 kids. They used to bake something, like a cake or cupcakes that we would have after the study. How sweet was that?

Singing at JW funerals
by keyser soze inmy sister's husband passed away last week, and the funeral was last saturday.
after the typical commercial for the wts, the speaker invited those in the audience to join in singing song #15(life without end at last).
they passed out lyrics to the song to those without songbooks.

Really, the JW funerals are the worst. I have been to many. The singing is rather new (I last attended one 4 years ago) and the song mentioned was copied and passed out for everyone to "sing" or follow along with. Those who sang were lackluster and it was not a feeling of uplifting or a celebration of one's life. It was dreary. Of course the "canned" music does not add any personality or emotion to it either.
On the other hand, I recently attended a funeral held in a "non-denominational" church which left everyone smiling and happy...lots of great rememberances of the person, video, singing and even a live, tastefully performed dance by 3 professional dancers to an old-time Southern Spiritual.
I too played the piano for weddings and funerals at the KH, it seems like a lifetime ago. Crap(ola) I also, don't know how I ever did that!!!

Has Anyone On This Board Ever Had a Near Death Experience?
by Rapunzel ini was wondering if anyone had ever experienced a n.d.e.

How about the Hawaiian one? Impossible to sing, something like "gracious Jehovah, God we thank you, for our spiritual paradise"

It is almost 6:30 p.m. where I am -- New Years' Eve. Happiness and Health to all of you! I am steaming tamales (home-made) for our dinner tonight. Going nowhere out of the house....as my husband says, all of the light-weights are out there tonight drinking and driving! Stay safe and warm!
