  My grandkids went to Southwestern Longview ("Longview") in Long Beach, Ca. It was from K through 12. It has since closed.

  this was my argument to be allowed to go out with our "group" back in the 1960's.

  "the young ones", as they are now called -- anyway we hung out from several local congs.

"The Young Ones", as they are now called -- anyway we hung out from several local congs. ages from about 15 - 25, give or take. Never got into any trouble, but sure had a lot of fun. Counted french fries, rode in convertables in the winter with the top down and the heater going at full blast, drove around and around in a cul-de-sac while laughing hysterically, no drugs, no booze, just pure fun and laughter. I could go on and on. Anyone with same experiences?

  I floated when I was baptized

  i told the elder doing the pre-baptism stuff that i didn't really want to get baptized.. at the ass-embly, i didn't say the baptismal vows.

  just stood there.

  the attendant was mouthing, "say it", to me, or something like that, but i didn't.. when i got to the tank, the first time the dude dunked me without warning.

  The "first time" I was dunked was when I was 9 yrs old and my grandmother took me to meetings, etc. Afterwards, my gram asked me how I felt or something along that line. I said "it was fun" -- to her dismay, she told me to "hush" this was supposed to be a serious time, not "fun." I sort of floated at first, maybe that skirt on the oh-so-modest bathing suit, then the air squished out and down I went.

  this for some reason has got me ticked off.

  if you go to the tmz website you will see a photo of paris and her brother holding the "sing praises to jehovah" songbook.

  Field Service Break stories

  after reading the thread about strange field service experiences, i kept thinking about some of the strange stories.

  when we would stop for break on a saturday morning:.

  there was this brother and his wife who were uber-rightous about getting time in.

  Back in "my" day, we NEVER had breaks. Two solid hours from 10a.m. - 12:00.

  GUILT

  this is such a heavy topic, very encompassing with many of us...i know that i still and perhaps always will, suffer from guilt -- on so many levels.. i just read this quote "guilt has been used as a tool of social control" -- i have also heard that guilt is 'anger with one's self" -- i would love to hear your expressions/etc.

  about this subject.

  can we ever rid ourselves of guilt?

  This is such a heavy topic, very encompassing with many of us...I know that I still and perhaps always will, suffer from guilt -- on so many levels.

  I just read this quote "Guilt has been used as a tool of social control" -- I have also heard that guilt is 'anger with one's self" -- I would love to hear your expressions/etc. about this subject. Can we ever rid ourselves of guilt? And what do we have to be guilty of? The "society" (Borg) really loads guilt on everyone (mind control?). Why do I do so many things out of guilt? I hate when I do that, but nevertheless, I continue to do it.

  one of my boyfriend's best friend died over the weekend.

  it was really sad.

  he was 36, never married, no kids, and pretty lonely.

  Mouthy, you are right on. When my grandmother's youngest brother died, we asked her if she wanted to travel back East to attend his funeral. She said no, "let the dead bury the dead." I was shocked by her response.

  all black and white, with some actors who went on to become well known stars.

  i only watch a few because my grandson (deceased) loved them!

  when my daughter was little we were "active" -- one time she asked to say the prayer at dinner.

  we said ok. she said a nice little prayer and ended it by adding "and thank you for the beer, the wine and the champagne.".

  another time coming home from a meeting she looked up at the sliver of the moon and said "that looks like a giant toenail".. .
