Are JW EX elders in need of our contempt or sympathy ?

point 1. not so long i would have strung them all up and hanged them.. point 2. these guys were the real succers, not only did they become jw,s, they embraced and adopted the cults teachings, and to some extent subjugated thier familys happiness, and thier own,to elevate themselves, and achieve status and recieve privellages, ie not have a f-----g life.

point 3 they had the onerus task of making sense, of the ever changing (truths) and having to teach that crap to the rest of us, and cope with the subsequent questionings that would invariably follow.. point 4.they had to take the lead in (sales) distributing literature.

point 5.they were the authoritarian face of the society, and a lot of people, (myself included ) thought they were jumped up janitors and window cleaners with a chip on thier shoulders.

I believe a little of both if they are honest hearted, contempt-- which is a strong word unless they are reall a$$e$.. - maybe just desserts would be appropriate--- because they may have destroyed lives while in service to the congregation but sympathy because they have lost their faith and their lives due to the overbearing remaining good standing elders who can pounce on them and harrass them - driving them out of the hall - and all because they may have asked a question that others can perceive as being wrong thinking or leaning towards apostasy.

I know of one elder who has stepped down from the RBC and said he would never go back... another who has been on the hit list by elders in his congregation because he has a heart - even his friend - the PO or CoBoE would not stand up for him while 2 others blindsided him at all meetings - both have re thought their positions and are ready to step down and even talk of leaving the truth as they don't feel it is the truth any longer... some still go through hell just to remain a witness because somewhere they still believe ....knowing what their life would be without the cong and in a lot of instances, their families...

The Bible is full of violence.Why are JW's told to avoid anything related to it then?

in exodus jehovah killed the egyptians.ahud stabbed eglon in his abdomen,people in a city (don't remember which one) would eat their own children,jw's back then sacrificed their babies to moloch and the list goes on.so why jw's have to avoid books,music,movies which contain violence?

relationship with dad got better, so start slow with him, a phone call from time to time, then it will build to taking him to a dr appt or out for groc, etc.. just because he lives with her doesn't mean he agrees with her.....

As a sidenote - my SIL has a mom in the truth and she has done the exact same thing - picked some gals in the cong to be her daughters... even tho her real daughter is good in the truth, does all she can to help, the mom puts her down so much that my SIL doesnt dare to say anything as her mom flies into a fit, her son is out of the truth and she looks at him as an angel... and sees him maybe once in three months whle her daughter lives next door and is always there..

I truly believe jealousy plays a part in their minds and they just want to keep you off balance and confused, as well as angry...don't fret

Did I Have a Stroke?

Friend of mine had same type of attack - hubby took her to emerg at once - they diagnosed stroke and she was given meds- after all the work up was done ---that was 5 years ago and she is doing fine

Welcome BurnedOUt, take it slow-- remember - better to win hearts (your wife's) not arguments--- heard that somewhere..

If she has close friends/relatives in the truth -they will be talking to her about you eventually, so take it slow with her, leave the "bullshit" attitude out, just show her how available you are for the family now, wives love that. You are doing good with the kids as you have stated, have some date night's with the woman in your life, show her the care and concern you gave the "flock".

What keeps a JW in the religion? A new angle.

there are many reasons why but i wonder if there could be a dominant mental mechanism at work?.

i've done a bit of research and written this article on the subject.. the comparisons between stockholm's syndrome and jw behaviour are striking.. what keeps a jw in the religion?.

In my cong alone there are about 15 people who have faded - they can be invited to get togethers, get a slap on the back or handshake when visiting the hall at memorial time -only time you see them, witnesses have coffee with them, laugh and joke about what is going on in their lives, they walk the line--- and I have yet to hear of a shepherding call on various ones...they want the freedom but keep contact just in case..if not df'd or da'd- the pub nbr does not decrease-- how many congregations have similar situations?? What name would you give these ones- they are not Stockholm, nor fearful of any in authority that can alter their lifestyle...they just live life according to their rules
