Josephus/ I am Quasi New to the Board as u can see
by truthlover inwhile reading some excerpts from his writings, i noticed that he gave the year when seth was born at 230 years vs the 130 years mentioned in the bible.. does anyone know why this difference?
this is repeated many times when dealing with births in his antiquities.. i will not be on the board today but if anyone feels free to answer, i will be checking in later .
watching for some time and appreciate all your info.

by Mickey mouse ini'm talking real numbers here, not the stuff they publish which is skewed by allowing people to count 15 minutes/both parents counting study time with children.
when did they reach their peak publishers?.
my guess would be the early 2000's.

I copied the info at JWFacts to my files but could not get the graphs to copy - is there a way to do that?
Its very concise information -- I have been setting up a word sheet with all the info since 1920's BUT this stat report is really great! Saves a lot of time and effort...
Anyone tell me how to get the graphs please???

by snowbird ini learned about y'all in the second grade, and fell in love with your beautiful land.. my geography book was filled with pictures of your wheat fields, lakes, rivers, and smiling people.. one of the ancestors, an aunt of hank aaron, used to regale us with wonderful stories of her visits to your country: the cleanliness, the warmth and friendliness of the people, and the lack of overt racial prejudice.. later on, i read about the underground railroad.
my heart swelled with admiration and respect as i found out how your country welcomed fugitive slaves.. my resolve is to visit y'all one of these fine days and see for myself what i've been told.
my little jw daughter and her dad have been there, and they both agree that canada is a land of freedom and opportunity.. to the canucks on this here forum, i salute you, as you only reinforce what i've been told about y'all.

Syl: Yes you are right - Halifax is the capital of Nova Scotia -- many will remember the 9/11 scene when all plans were diverted from US airspace and landed in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and NB...... many have great memories of the beds, meals and touring around while there even though they could not get back to their various homes in the States.. Maritimers are known for their hospitality...also PEI is the home of Anne Of Green Gables..... also too - it was the Nova Scotia fisherman who tried to rescue the plane crash victims of Flight 111 - to no avail, all died..terrible scene

i just got the news monday, and damn!!
my foot is a mess,,, bursitis .. yech, painful, and the doctors have been ignoring me/telling me i'm making it up for 18 mos.

The effect we are having on the Watchtower is HUGE
by jwfacts ini was inspired by a recent thread i know i aint gunna crumble the wt, but a girl can dream to look at the effect we as individuals are having on the watchtower society.. 3dogs1husband quoted a story to show that even helping only one person is worth it.. it is encouraging to note that the one person you may have helped has lead to millions being helped, due to the power of compounding growth.. compounding growth is well illustrated by the rice on a chessboard problem.
if you start with 1 grain of rice on square one, and double it to 2 on the second, 4 on the third, 8 on the fourth, by the last (64th) square there would be 18,446,744,073,709,551,615 grains of rice.. likewise, if you help one person out of the grip of the watchtower this year, then next year you help one more and they help one, in a few years that is going to have a formidable result on the number of jehovahs witnesses.

In my part of the world no young ones are stepping up - most of the 5 congs in the area have older men as elders - most cong only have 3 if lucky ..some young ones as MS - thats it.. stagnant numbers -- none coming in from the local areas. Only new ones are families moving in and out of congs..

Trying to Fade, Now they want to interview me on the SAD!!!
by burnedout ini resigned as an elder some time ago, have been working on fading, the wife is getting used to the new 'me' (not stressed, better husband and father, etc.
), been missing a lot of meetings... even received a few statements such as: 'hi burnedout, it's good to see you!!!
last sunday, i took my one of my sons to the local dragstrip to show him the races, oops missed the meeting.

Your mind is in turmoil right now and will take a lot of time and effort to undo what has been done to you throughout the years in the org. This is a massive move for you -to step down and now do a fade...
Give it time - Join AA,they have a step program that could be the step program for leaving the org.... forget about the car - if you don't, they will have won.. you are finding a life with your family now, work on your wife, as a loving and more thoughful husband..scriptures tell a wife - that with her patience and kindness, she can save her husband --i.e. truth speak - make him a JW---but on the other hand, the same is true with a husband -could make her look at what is really true if you blend the love with sprinkles of why you are fading, slowly, not all at once, over a period of time, fein depression, anxieties, sadness... women can understand that most times. She seems to be strong in the faith now -- as she is happy to be asked to do the part.. if your uncomfortable, tell her so but dont tell her about the fade now....If you do, she may well talk to her "friends" who will talk to the elders.. you need time to work this out in your mind..

I agree with SD7 -- if you don't want your life public, stay as private as you can -without it bothering your conscience - after all its mine, not theirs.. I know they take the scripture - to keep your eye on each other - not quite that -- but its like everyone has the right to either tell you what to do, or report you if you get out of line, or argue with you -- me I would not stand for any of that stuff...
Zid said its Rutherford's fault - I agree -- he did not want his life made public according to all the bad press he would have received..now today, we have letters and eye witness testimonies who saw him for what he really was.. its so sad the society wont come clean.. the two dvd's do not go into the early days of the org other than how they won legals fights.
Usually, the person who thinks these restrictive guidelines up is going through the same things in their lives and feel restrictions apply to everyone cause they cant trust themselves.. such was Rutherfords mind.. as a lawyer-he would try to outthink and outwit those "beneath" him...
how prideful he was!! It goes before a fall! Still waiting....
