  just wondering if anyone here has ever a supernatural experience.. whether it be seeing a ghost/angel/demon, ufo encounter.. etc..

  Imagine the look on his face when his experiment flies up to the ceiling.

  The theory of evolution for example is still just that, a theory. Not proven yet, however most all in the scientific community believe and use it as fact. How about you? You seem to love science so much, do you believe in the "theory" of evolution?

  Ahh, actually the "theory" of evolution is called Natural Selection. It is an attempt to explain the "fact" of evolution, which is found in the fossil record, our biology and our DNA. Think of it this way:

  The theory of gravity attempts to explain why stuff fall to the ground. The theory of gravity has changed, it used to be Newtonian and then it was replaced by Einsteinian physics. When this theory changed (more like an adjustment), things still behaved the same way. Stuff still fell to earth just like before, the planets still orbited the sun.

  So yes, I believe that the current theory of evolution, or Natural Selection, is close to correct. It explains the evidence (which is that animals and plants change over time) that we see and makes successful predictions.

  No, we actually understand magnetic forces very well. Gravity, well, not quite as much. Or I should say we understand it but not as well as with electric/magnetic forces.

  Quantum theory has described them all nicely (except for gravity), and we have even found force carrying particles in accelerator labs. Very cool stuff.

  Calling them forces has nothing to do with how well or not we understand them. Same for the field, gravitaional, magnetic, etc. It's just the way we describe them.

  Uh no. Conspiracies like that don't exist. The nature of science and scientific discoveries prevent it. Look at how many "conspiracies" have been broken after a very short time (Watergate, Iran-Contra, the whole Paula Jones thing).

  If it's such a great conspiracy that the government is trying to hide, why do you know about it? And if you can find out about it and post it on the internet what is keeping it down? It just doesn't work.

  Simple by placing a small magnet over a small amount of liquid nitrogen, this method can be used to create some sort of device in that effect.

  That's not 'anti-gravity' it's magnetic force holding up a piece of superconductor. It will only work with a supercondutor too. And it's hardly a secret. I did that in a class one time. There is nothing in it to do with gravity. It just creates a force up that is equal to gravity's force down, the same as if I were to pick it up and hold it in my hand.

  My guess is that it's a sham. The fact that it is not really embraced by mainstream physics or science folks would leave me to believe that it's not real.

  If this were real and that easy to demonstrate somebody would have gotten a Noble prize for it. The way science works, someone would have made a lot of noise about this if it were a true, repeatable, demonstratable "effect."

  i was raised a jehovah's witness all my life, though i don''t go any more, not till i fall on my head and not afraid to ask questions does this particular question come up.. what is gods name?.

  people act as though everyone in the world speaks english, what about the third of the worlds population in china could it be that is his real name at this late date?

  why do we assume that it has to be "jehovah" when it could just as easily be how they call it in china, or india, or arabia, or south america anywhere that there is a large population?.

  in the beginning, if there were only two humans and they had kids, how did the kids have kids if not through incest?

  However we aren't the only species that has a "taboo" of sorts against it. There are plenty of animals that will not under any circumstances breed or mate with their siblings. Some animals do, most don't. It's not a good idea evolutionarily speaking so for the most part it doesn't happen.

  you have got to start learning english english at some point or another, after all, us brits are having to learn american english to be able to understand all those films (movies) about how you saved our arses (butts) during the 1939 -1945 (1941 - 1945) war.. now we all know the obvious ones, such as you calling a car bonnet the hood, the boot is the trunk and a spanner being a wrench etc etc.

  plus the fact that you eat fries instead of chips and spread mayo instead of butter.

  The majority of those quotes were came from the mouth of Al Gore. I'm looking for the link I need right now.

  Argh. This is what the internet has done, it's hard to "prove" much of where this stuff comes from and when it gets printed on several different web pages by several different people it makes it even more difficult. Most of them were originally said by Dan Quayle. They have since been attributed to both Al Gore and George Bush, but the fact is that they were originally said by Quayle.

  There are several books that were printed with his quotes back when he was still the VP. I have one, and it has many of those quotes in it. The dates have changed- they were mostly said back in the late 80s - but the rest is the same.

  RE: Should Parents With Genetically...............

  i am after a little input on something.. i am wondering what your thoughts are on parents not preventing pregnancies from occurring when they have already produced a child or children with a genetic defect???.

  is it fair or even moral to bring a child into the world when you have already proven that one or both parents genes are defective.

  i am speaking here of children that suffer and will not live normal life spans.. i personally could not do this.

  Thanks Ladonna. My wife and I have talked about this several times and we both are in agreement with it.

  The reason I used the cataracts in my post is that she has that defect in her family, nearly all the women are born with cataracts. Her aunt had them, my wife and her sister had them. It's nearly 100% with the women, it doesn't affect the men at all.

  Treatments for that are available now that fix it completely. My wife has only about 30% vision in one eye, the other is perfect. Her aunt is blind in one eye, perfect in the other. You can see the progression in treatments as time goes on; today that is a trivial surgery. It was unavailable for her aunt, and was a major surgery for my wife.
