He used to work for Mighty tools. He died a month or so ago. His wife Theresa was about twenty years younger than him so she is still around somewhere near Atlanta, GA. They had two daughters now married to dubs.

Doing the best I can on the Global Warming...
by Gregor inthis winter is not over but it has, so far, been brutal.
in our part of the world we have seen weeks of sub-freezing temps and blizzards that have left us virtually isolated.
we live very modestly, no 10,000 sq ft mansions, no private jets or limosines, but, none the less, we do what we can to speed up global warming.

The earth is our home. Let's do our best to try to take care of it so we can pass it on the those we know will be here after us. We can't keep saying climate change isn't happening. Kentucky had an ice storm where the power was out for many over a week. Remember folks that is the south. It isn't supposed to get as cold down here (Tennessee) as it has been for the last few days yet it is in the twenties with wind chill in the teens. There were snow flurries here a couple of times. I just didn't expect that. The floods in other countries aren't covered by our media anymore since we are obsessed with what Britney, Madonna, and Brad & Angelina are doing. Let's get news reporters to cover the world again. Maybe, then it would sink in that the planet is in trouble for the things humans have done to it. I have started a thread about ruining the earth. Please share your ideas.

Is it possible that we are ruining the earth?
by Bubblie insaw robert f. kennedy, jr. give a lecture on "it's not easy being green" and "crimes against nature" last night at utc.
he really knows his stuff about what is going on with the environment.
he talked about how the coal mining in west virginia has torn down large mountains because they dump the rocks and soil into the rivers then the mountains are gone.

Saw Robert F. He said the rain forests are being torn down then the area that once produced wonderful green plants and trees becomes desert. He said when he was a child he would go fishing with his family in New York and still takes his children except now they can no longer eat the fish because of mercury poisoning in the fish from waste dumping. The Bush administration had so many people that worked against doing anything for the ecosystem because of their ties to major oil companies. So we are eight years behind working on this problem. I don't think Bushy believed in it. We know that other countries have reduced or have no ties to dependency on the oil from Saudi Arabia. The US could do it, too. Maybe in as little as three years. He made a comment about in ten years we would all be driving electric cars and selling the extra current back to companies that would use it for power by turning them off for just 15 minutes a day. It was eye opening to hear him talk about T. Bone Pickens idea to use windmills to generate power to other states from Texas. However, the grids don't connect right now. That is a way to put people to work building these grids and creating jobs. There are all sorts of ideas about mirrors in the desert to generate power, they would also have to be built, more jobs. It was wonderful to hear there is a solution to the problem. Not just a dead end because it will just go away. The planet is ours to use but we need to take action now or we will no longer have a place to live. So what that we can come on the internet to say we don't believe in Global Climate Change. If everything goes to hell in a hand basket then we won't have anything to pass on to the next generations. I will now step off my soap box.

Was there any particular song or music u were not allowed to listen to because it was inappropriate or it was deemed demonized?
by jetery ini remember there was this heavy metal group called wasp.
some of the witnesses said it stood for we are satans people and that wasnt even true.
stairway to heaven by led zeppelin was a no-no because they said if u played it backwards it talked about worshipping the devil.

I can remember when becoming a dub in 1974 there were articles in Awake about Janis and Jimi. They were a real no no. I went crazy one day and went through all of mine and hubby's albums. There were so many but I not only threw them away but scratched them with a metal pen to ruin them. I didn't want to pass anything bad on to my neighbors. What an ass I was! Some of his albums were imports from the UK that you couldn't even get here in the states. I threw away the Traffic album that had "John Barley Corn Must Die" on it because if they said he should die that had to be bad. I am an idiot! Didn't know it was about making whiskey. Oh the things we do to keep from being attacked by satan, huh?

So I told him I am moving out...
by WuzLovesDubs in...and there was no reaction at all.
flat line.
no expression on his face whatsoever.

Wow, Wuz you are moving quickly. I wish you well. Sorry for his reaction. Kinda like a deer caught in the headlights, huh? Insurance is the only thing he could think to bring up. Maybe, he was clueless? I am still working on getting over my divorce as some of us on here have gone through one. As you know it takes time. I moved out as soon as I found a place, but I moved states away. Found out end of May moved beginning of August. If you move close by at least he can still come by to see the children. Hope it works out for you.

Call it what you want. I like what a guy on Bill Maher called it Global Weirding. I am going to hear Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. speak tonight. His topics are "Its Not Easy Being Green" and "Crimes Against Nature." I saw a film last night called The 11th Hour all about the change in the weather and if it can be reversed. Can you tell I just joined a Green group? Takes me back to my hippie days.

Im probably getting a divorce.... :*(
by WuzLovesDubs inits probably over due.
and im terrified.
any of you that know me know ive put up with a lot in the 22 years of marriage and its wasnt just the jw thing.

Bubblie
So sorry this is happening to you. Divorce is never easy. I just got one after over 35 years of marriage last year in July. I am older than you and am looking for a job in a depressed area of Tennessee. I never had children because of the dubs. Hope you are able to keep it together. It is a very difficult thing to leave but I wish you well. I personally hate living alone but am doing it much better now. I can do what I want when I want. I love my freedom now. Many on this board have given me good advice. I have just joined a divorce support group. I am able to go to therapy as well. You are scared because you remember what you went through before and how long it takes to work through the grief and how hard it is to do. Even when you are ready to go you still have to deal with so much. I wish you strength and power. So many of us have had your situation. If we were men we wouldn't give it as much thought. But then again we are able to cry easier than then, huh? Thats a sign you are on the road to recovery. You will not always feel like you do. The grief will not destroy you. You will get through this experience as others have gotten through it before you. Power to us women!

"Love" at the Mirage is a must see if you go to Vegas. It should be a requirement for all who are there. The soundtrack from the show, now has a DVD with how they put everything together for it. The orginial just had the music again with a still painting. What was that all about? When I saw the Beatles in 1966 it was before they could do things like Rubber Soul since it had so many effects but they were GREAT! Just to see them with binoculars was exciting. Wow it takes me back! Thanks for this thread.

Wonder what they do now with young people showing up with tattoos and everything pierced? I remember a new publisher getting told she didn't have on enough underwear. She wasn't wearing a bra and didn't need one (her girls looked great.) Anyway, she was very upset that they noticed so you know where they were looking! I think she stopping coming to meetings and got smart. I have since tried to contact their family but most of them don't want anything to do with the dubs. I wanted to tell them I left, too.
