Holy Spirit

i don't know if this has been discussed before but i'm still going to post this.

i flew to philly from miami to visit my parents on tuesday.

i'm staying in philly for a week.

I don't know if this has been discussed before but I'm still going to post this. I flew to Philly from Miami to visit my parents on Tuesday. I'm staying in Philly for a week. Anyways, my parents had some JW brothers and sisters coming over for Watchtower Study. I really don't remember what the WT study is about. At one point, I decided to join the study just to see what they are talking about. One of the brothers brought up something about the Holy Spirit. He was saying that all churches got it wrong. Holy Spirit isn't a person at all and stuff like that.....blah blah blah. I interrputed him and told him that I got a question. I showed him John 16:7-8:

7 Nevertheless, I am telling YOU the truth, It is for YOUR benefit I am going away. For if I do not go away, the helper will by no means come to YOU ; but if I do go my way, I will send him to YOU . 8 And when that one arrives he will give the world convincing evidence concerning sin and concerning righteousness and concerning judgment:

I asked him who the "helper" is. He said it was the Holy Spirit. Then I asked him why did the Bible refer to him as "him" or "he" if he isn't a person? Shouldn't you be calling objects "it" instead of "he" or "she"? I showed him and other JWs some more scriptures about the Holy Spirit and they just sat there in silence. My dad said "Well sometimes the Bible is hard to understand. We are waiting for Jehovah to clear this up for us." It was a very awkard night for all of them because they didn't really have any answer to this. My dad didn't look too happy after they left.

I really don't know if I did handle this situation correctly by making my dad pissed off but I did what I had to do.

i remember when i was 10 years old (that was 15 years ago), some jw brother in our congregation talked to me and he said he can't wait for us to be perfect in the paradise.

i asked him how can we become perfect all of a sudden since sin is "stained" into us.

he said that's because satan and demons won't be around anymore.

There are just too many questions about the Paradise. JWs don't usually bother asking them because if they do, they will be viewed as spiritually weak. If you think about it more, the more it doesn't make much sense.

The other thing I brought up to some JWs is 1000 year reign. Suppose we all are perfect, none of us should fall to Satan when he gets out of the abyss after 1000 years. What's the point of bringing back the old system in Paradise? If Jehovah feels the need to judge us again in the Paradise, that means we still aren't perfect after all. All of them had no clear answer to this question and it actually got some of them to think.

It makes you feel much more different and it will reduce your temptation. I asked him if we will always be happy all the time without being angry, jealous, and stuff. He was like "definitely!" Next, I asked him what if we fall off the cliff, trip over a rock, or get hit by something in the paradise. We would still be making mistakes therefore we can't be really 100% perfect. He said Jehovah and his angels will help protect him. I told him if we are really perfect then we wouldn't need Jehovah and his angel to help protect us. We all will still make mistakes if we go to paradise. I asked him to use his Bible to show me if Jehovah will do all of those things. He was like "excuse me, I got to go to the bathroom" lol.

It would really suck being happy all the time like they show in their pictures of the paradise. Happiness, sadness, sorrow, anger, jealousy, anxiety is part of life. That's what makes our life exciting. I love the era we are living in right now because of advanced technology and better understanding of life. I don't see any advanced technology in the pictures of paradise provided by the WTBS. It would be like us suffering a big setback.

i was that one way to increase my field service time for me and my wife was by standing at a truck stop and hand out tapes to truckers in the early mornings.

this is the same lot that is frequented by drug dealers and hookers.

another time, while studying, i said i did not understand the blood issue.

Look at me right now. I'm happier than ever. I've got a great wife and I'm almost done with school. I've got great "worldy" friends and non-JW family members.

The correct advice should be "You wont find happiness if you choose to remain as a JW"

I found true happiness after I stopped being involved with JW.

Dying at Armageddon doesn't sound so bad to me. I just get to be unconscious for the rest of my life. Hell, maybe I will be someone else in Paradise without remembering who I was in my previous life.

but i made it to the sunday session to make an apperance.. on sunday, i learned that we are,... ready, this is a new one for me :"...on the doorstep of the great tribulation..." so close brothers!

LOL good one, Shamus. Honestly I have no idea how they can bear sitting down for hours listening to same crap for three days. I always hated going to Circuit Assembly or District Convention. It was a torture. I always look at my watch and said "come on, come on, please let the lunch break start soon!" The most annoying thing was people kept coming to me during the day they baptize people. They asked me when am I going to get baptized. They said I better start moving my butt and get baptized before Armageddon. That was 10 years ago when I was 15-16. I'm 25 now and the world looks pretty the same to me. Good ol memories lol.

My parents went to sign language DC recently too and my mom talked to me about it. She said the DC was really good and they said the end is near. She said they are warning us not like before. I told her that crap is old. They have been saying the same crap for a long time. How the hell am I supposed to believe it? My mom seems disappointed but I had to tell her the truth. My dad and I didn't have any discussion about it because if we do, we will end up arguing as usual.

Man, it sucks. I actually liked him and the way he presents products on TV. He was full of energy and enthauism. Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. Now, Billy Mays. Unbelievable.

Should I tell them the truth?

i've got plenty of "worldy" friends and i am very happy with my life right now.

Ok alright here it is. I was never bapitized or anything. I've got plenty of "worldy" friends and I am very happy with my life right now. But the problem is that I got few really good friends who are still JWs. They are pretty cool. They aren't your typical JWs. They are usually open-minded and we would talk about many things as long as they aren't Bible-related. Recently, they were discussing about the Bible and I was there. I just kept my mouth shut and they asked me what I think about certain topics in the Bible. They still believe that I think the JW has the truth but nothing could be further from the truth. I just want to tell them that I no longer believe in JW's teachings. If I do, I probably will lose them. I know I still got plenty of "worldy" friends but I do love my JW friends too. I just feel sad that if they stop associating with me because I dont believe in JWs teachings but I still want to associate with them even though I don't believe in their teachings. I just wish they are more open-minded than that. What should I do? I can't lie to my friends. Should I tell them the truth about how I feel?
