I'm a former crack addict and I can say this with 100% confidence, weed isn't bad. It's nothing really compared to what I took in my body. It just helps you relax and you become more creative. It can really help you reduce your stress. Honestly, I don't see why it cannot be legalized. Most people that I know smoke weed and they are so damn cool. They have good lives and they are very happy with what they do. Some people say weed is the gateway to other drugs. From my experience, it is all about choices you make in your life and who you hang out. If you hang out with people who just smoke weed, you are not likely to try other drugs. That way, weed remains harmless. But if you hang out with people who smoke weed and take other drugs, you are VERY LIKELY to do other drugs. That makes it look like weed will lead you to other drugs but that is further from the truth.

I Don't Have to Be "RIGHT" Anymore.
by OnTheWayOut infor the record, i don't believe in the god of the bible, and i find it hard to believe in the god of any religion on earth.
i am closest to atheist in my beliefs if you want a traditional title, but i prefer "rationalist.
" i will do god's will for me when he directly tells me what it is.

LOL, I like some of the points you made. The whole thing is very well-written. I couldn't agree with you more. Honestly, I really don't give a crap about religions nowadays. All of them are the same. They preach the same thing which is salvation even though they got many different beliefs. The best thing I ever did in my life besides marrying my wife would be opening up my mind and discover myself. Once you do that, there are endless possibilities to what you can do in life. I just feel so damn free. I don't have to listen to same repetitive crap at meetings. I don't have to sit there disgruntled anymore.
Nothing is better than having a freedom. I still feel sorry for those who are blinded by religions.

According to dictionary.com, the definition of apostate is:
1. a person who foresakes his religion, cause, party, etc.
2. of or characterized by apostasy.
Don't you think we fit the definition of "apostates"?

angel eyes, that's my point. It's ok that JWs do believe in living on paradise earth. That's great for real but wouldn't you want some kind of assurance that you will definitely live in the paradise instead of doing things knowing that there is no guarantee for you to live in the paradise. That's the dealbreaker for me.

Angel eyes, I don't want to sound like a prick but how do you know you will be in the paradise for sure? Nothing is guaranteed. You do things for Jah and hope you did just enough to get by. It is like you telling a little kid "if you do what I tell you, you will get a chocolate bar. If you don't, no chocolate bar for you."

Being in the organization is like a gamble. You just do whatever you can and hope that you did enough to be in the Paradise because nothing is guaranteed. One tiny little mistake, GAME OVER. Doesn't sound so joyful and relieving to me.

Did being JW help you cope with death?
by KDubbz ini was thinking about this today.
i remember when i attended meetings and conventions with my parents when i was growing up, i would run into some jws who said they were able to cope with death of their loved ones better due to the fact that they will be resurrected in the "new world" which gave them hope.
i find this partially true because they were given a false hope of being in the "new world" and seeing their loved ones again.

Hi 2pink :-) Welcome to this forum. I don't post here regularly but I think I'll post more now from on. You can find plenty of love and support here unlike the Watchtower organization. I know it will be difficult for you at first. I would recommend you to start fading. Try to get more involved with other things like other posters said. That way you will be able to make more friends outside of the WT organization while fading. Once you got friends and a great support team, you can get out of the organization for good without feeling too much pain. But on the other hand, your family are very loyal JWs so I can understand how difficult it is for you.
Just take things slowly and things will take care of itself. That way you will be able to make transition smoother with less pain.

I hate District Convention time
by digderidoo ini had to pick my daughter up from my mothers yesterday after going to the district convention.
i hate having to listen to how my mother has bumped into so and so and they've been asking about me.. she bumped into some of my ex's family who stopped and chatted.
so two faced all of them.. it kind of gets my back up and i can feel anger coming up when i hear people who i used to respect asking after me, then if i were to walk past them in the street i know most of them would try to avoid me.. to top it all my mother has been dropping hints as to whether i will go with her.

I feel you. My dad has been bugging me about going to American Sign Language (ASL) DC here in Florida. He is in the ASL drama so he wanted me to see it. Really, I don't want to go at all but I do want to see my dad in drama. Since he is my dad, I'm his #1 fan, no doubt about it. I think I might be going there on Sunday afternoon just to watch the drama then get out of there. I know I won't be able to survive 3 days with tons of boring talks on the list.

I don't know if this has been discussed before but I'm still going to post this. I flew to Philly from Miami to visit my parents on Tuesday. I'm staying in Philly for a week. Anyways, my parents had some JW brothers and sisters coming over for Watchtower Study. I really don't remember what the WT study is about. At one point, I decided to join the study just to see what they are talking about. One of the brothers brought up something about the Holy Spirit. He was saying that all churches got it wrong. Holy Spirit isn't a person at all and stuff like that.....blah blah blah. I interrputed him and told him that I got a question. I showed him John 16:7-8:
7 Nevertheless, I am telling YOU the truth, It is for YOUR benefit I am going away. For if I do not go away, the helper will by no means come to YOU ; but if I do go my way, I will send him to YOU . 8 And when that one arrives he will give the world convincing evidence concerning sin and concerning righteousness and concerning judgment:
I asked him who the "helper" is. He said it was the Holy Spirit. Then I asked him why did the Bible refer to him as "him" or "he" if he isn't a person? Shouldn't you be calling objects "it" instead of "he" or "she"? I showed him and other JWs some more scriptures about the Holy Spirit and they just sat there in silence. My dad said "Well sometimes the Bible is hard to understand. We are waiting for Jehovah to clear this up for us." It was a very awkard night for all of them because they didn't really have any answer to this. My dad didn't look too happy after they left.
I really don't know if I did handle this situation correctly by making my dad pissed off but I did what I had to do.
