I for one do not believe for a minute that the CO arrangement would be stopped. At most, as other have already suggested, it could be an expanded role of the substitute COs, who are generally elders from neighboring areas.

A new twist on the overlapping generations
by PYRAMIDSCHEME inhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3b5yrycmj9u&feature=share.
(this video was posted on the facebook page: towerwatch.).
in 2010 we had the new light on the overlapping generations...now there seems to be a new twist.

Thanks for posting. It certainly sounds authentic - very typical of the usual assembly.
Funny, the 89 year old lady who was interviewed used the word generation in the usual way, that is, her generation that saw the depression and WW2. Of course she used it that way; what else can it mean? Then the speaker develops the twisted reasoning that two groups that overlap can make a generation. By that same reasoning, they could say that the 89 year old was of the Civil War generation, since her life overlapped with someone who saw the Civil War. It is a ridiculous stretch of the imagination, I can't believe anyone can accept it.

My take is that this is their way of raising funds. Sell property, build new with free labor and donations, then sell again. I do know this, all the window-washers in these parts are going to have a tough time coming up with 8 million.

Why do I no longer get attacked and persecuted by the demons, since I left JW,s ?
by pedal power inmost jw.s really believe that they ( as we once did ) are promoting gods will, but what if they really are ?
is it possible that god is supporting them even though they (governing body ) lie, because most jw,s are ignorant of the lies told on their behalf, ?.
when i was a jw i got attacked by the demons bigtime, but not now, and i can only assume that they (demons ) are happy that i am no longer a jw and are now leaving me alone, cant think of any other reason, has god ever supported a group who were similarly found wanting ?.

New CO Rules
by Quarterback ina few years past, i remember a post mentioning that this was the last period of the circuit overseer arrangement.
apparently, a local brother would be chosen to represent the society, and visit the congregations.
just wondering, because our co hasn't announced who the new co is, and he is suddenly retiring.

In response to this comment:
However I would point out that many of the first MTS (now Bible School for Single Brothers) grads became COs and we will start to see the first grads from the Couple's Bible School soon..... both of these programs are WTS-procedure based unlike Gilead.....(actually it would be a good pre-req for Gilead entrance)
Another related rumor circulating in these parts is that the Gilead School will be supplanted by the Bible School for Couples and that Gilead would be either greatly scaled back or discontinued.

Does anyone know about the 2010 songbook?
by aristeas ini only recently found out that there was a new songbook 'released' last year.
i came in under the old pink flexi-cover one.
then in 1984 that oversized 225 song brown one came out.

My two cents worth:
The only one of the new songs worth listening to is 111, He Will Call. It is OK, and the chorus is actually good. All the rest are really bad.
Even worse is that some of the old familiar songs they decided to keep, have had changes to words, and some have an altered melody, for no apparent reason (example, 103 House to House, which was always a favorite with the kids, has all the zip taken out if it)
Here's a curious observation, the old song Shulamite Maiden, ( a nice tune) now has another name and words. I didn't realize until recently that it had never been sung for years - almost as if it was deliberately passed over. I wonder why. Maybe because the words ( a little racy, as I recall) may have been offensive to some cultures.

While not an expert, I have read all of the Studies (quite a few years ago, I must say) I can only say that I think that the Divine Plan of the Ages should be required reading for any who want to understand the JW religion. The really juicy things that most people refer to (pyramid, time prophecies, etc) are in the later volumes. The main thing that comes thru in the Divine Plan is that:
1 Russell was a good writer, The invention of the JW religion wouldn't have happened if Russell had not had a good command of the English language, and he was good. Compare the Divine Plan to the Three Worlds, which was written mostly by Barbour and financed by Russell, and there is no comparison. It is an easy read, even a hundred+ years later.
2 The Divine Plan is all about going to heaven, for the 'elect' ie; the best Christians. The earth was only for the second best Christians, and the 'heathens', and for the 'Jews' who were given a better place than the heathens, but still on earth. It is all ridiculous now of course,, but one cannot really get what happened in the 20's and 30's without a background in the Divine Plan.
Incidentally, the Divine Plan, as well as the Studies and some of the other pre-1916 literature, is usually in print by some of the Bible Students Groups. The WT society continued to publish ( or arrange to be published) the Studies into the 20's, but the edition that the Bible Students reprint is (correct me if I am wrong) the 1915 version. The differences are minimal.

Highlights of Annual Meeting 2010
by elderelite infor those who are interested, the following changes were announced yesterday at the agm.
1) mts school has been done away with.
a) in its place two new schools have been formed.

There is a rumour going around JW-land that the Gilead school is going to 'change', meaning being largely scaled back or even eliminated, and that emphasis will be on the MTS school for couples.
Just passing along the rumour, folks, it is not substantiated.
