Dinah, this is off the topic, but your pic of the kitten and the name Dinah are giving me the blues. I had a black kitten named Dinah--and I accidentally ran over her!! (:-( I'm still hurting over that.

Is it just me?
by almostbitten ini've listened to a number of jws speak about the "new world" and it strikes me that many of them plan to carry a lot of materialistic and worldly expectations with them.
for example, i heard one lady complain about the williams' (venus and serena) success as tennis players, that they should be out there preaching and waiting to play tennis in the new world.
another one came from a visiting elder speaking at the local hall.

For example, I heard one lady complain about the Williams' (Venus and Serena) success as tennis players, that they should be out there preaching and waiting to play tennis in the new world. Another one came from a visiting elder speaking at the local hall. He said that he realized that he was spending too much time playing golf in this "system of things," and that he should wait until the new world so he can play all the golf he wants!!! One girl wondered what the news broadcasts will be like since their will be no bad news to report. WTF?!? Okay, maybe it is me, but I'm thinking, "According to YOU guys, these are worldly habits and desires. SO, if this system of things will fade away, what makes you think all of these habits, hobbies, institutions, etc. will be present in the next go 'round, excepting the bad people?" Furthermore, what in the Bible would even support this?

Has the WitchTower come up with any specific dates or times for when A-Day will go down? I know about the 1975 fiasco. Or are they being low key this time around?

Troggie, I'm sorry that your family was done that way. I once read on an another site a comment made by an ex-JW about the doctrine of "old" and "new" light. He said that the Holy Spirit must have been using a dimmer switch there were so many flip flops in teachings. Although I'm not a JW, I think I finally got tired of smelling doo-doo when I asked my teacher once and for all whether or not JWs believed that Jesus' death was for everyone? She said no, but that "...his death was beneficial to others in the Kingdom in other ways." I found that really odd because that book we were studying from, "What Does The Bible Really Teach?" misleads readers. In chapter 4, p.37 and chapter 5, p. 47, nowhere does it state or even hint at Jesus dying for only a few. These chapters speak in general terms. I can imagine someone feeling as though a bombshell has been dropped when they discover AFTER hooking up with the organization that, "Sorry, he didn't die for you, just a select few. You're just assed-out."

"Taking care of a worldly friend isn't as important as the meetings!"
by Lady Zombie inmy best friend, who is *gasp* "worldly" had a semi-major surgery monday.
she had asked me if she could recooperate at my place.
it's nice and quiet at my place and besides, she knows i'll spoil her rotten.. yesterday (thursday) i had to take her to her doctor's for a post surgery check when i got off of work.

I'm not sure what to tell you. Studying with the JWs sorta screwed me up with that one, so I don't know anymore. Now, when people bring up the subject of the afterlife with me, I just tell them that God has good things in store for His followers and believers. That way, I'm covering my bases whether we die and go to heaven as some believe, or die and are resurrected to a new earth, as others believe. Sowwy, not much help.

And what happended to the wine and bread afterwards if no one ate or drank? The KH I was visiting had no members that were of the Heavenly Class, so I had to wonder about that. And how do you know who gets to take it and who doesn't? What if a guest took it?

This is SOOOOOOOO sad, yet oddly, I am not surprised--and I'm not a JW. The 2-door car thing, you have got to be kidding, right? What about pickup trucks? What are members supposed to do, ride on the back from house to house? Won't the WTs and Awakes! fly out?
