Bethelite reverence
by Waffles inhave any of you had the experience of a bethelite brother visiting your kh?.
here's how it always seemed to go in my experience:.
there is a general kh-wide excitement in the air that a real, live bethelite rockstar is at the hall; overheard are numerous convo's featuring words like "o, he's a bethelite".. visiting brother bethelite gives the closing prayer and is immediately mobbed by adoring fans.. all the single sisters are on high alert, you can smell the estrogen in the air.

I have a comment on the gatherings that take place after a bethelite visits.
At someone's house, showing slides of them working at bethel (how fascinating, when have i ever shown slides of myself working to people?). Then everyone is ooing and awwing listening to bethel stories. They are really put on a pedestle.

I guess to clarify, I wasn't even speaking about actual hand-held paper literature. I don't see too much of it although I saw some at my parents last weekend.
I'm talking about clicking on threads on apostate websites. I can't even read quotes from it. Yuck.

Mother's Day
by bobld inin view of mother's day the,the hypocritical society of the wbts says it's wrong to give honor to.
mother's and thier lame reasons.my question is than why do they clap when a talk is give at a. kh.,s.a.d.
district conventions, because when you look at the history and background of clapping.. you will see the orgin of this pagan practise.example, clapping during roman gladiator fight.can.

In a spirit of bitterness, I hate mother's day. all my friends go and visit their families. I do nothing. oh and add that to every other holiday.

So I've been out of JW's about a year. I've done a lot of research since then etc. But just in the past month or so I cannot look at WT publications. As soon as one shows up on an ex-witness website, I get chills. I cannot look at it. I hope my parents never want to debate the doctrine with me because just the idea of it is so repugnant to me.
Hmm, at least I'm getting margaritas and mexican food in about an hour!

JW's are a small club....JWD types...we are VERY small club......
by oompa inthat worldwide brotherhood thingy is real for the most part......i have traveled all over and it came in handy many a time.
i liked how there was an instant bond with someone you just met, and you had so much in common.
one time on a long vacation......at a very exclusive tropical place......a couple gave us their resort home for several days while they were out of town....i had just met them at the kh that morning..... anyhoo.....the thing is....i have had the same experience with those i have met from jwd......talk about an even smaller club!......but there is an instant bond, and fast friendship.....two couples in particular i had over for dinner once.....we had talked on phone and here too, but it was like being with old friends........oompa.

I agree with you. There's an exwitness that I drove 13 hours to see. I knew we would click if for no other reason, we were both former pioneers and around the same age and had issues with witness parents. I had total trust in her (to stay at her house etc) mainly because I knew she used to be a pioneer (and a really zealous pioneer, not the ones that do it just to show off). But it's kind of frightning because it was much the same as when I would trust to stay in someone's house just because I knew they were a witness, when i was a witness.

Former Hardcore Elder Now In and Out of Psych Ward (long)
by neverendingjourney ini was informed recently that a former hardcore, dyed-in-the-wool elder (lets call him elder a) has been in and out of a mental ward recently.
it came as a surprise at first, but upon further reflection, it really isnt that surprising.
let me give you some background.. my childhood up through elementary school was played out in the 80s.
-
net1261
That's an interesting story. I find it interesting in that my father was a hardcore elder in the 80s. Of course, he is still a hardcore elder in the 00s. But I guess anyone can crack, right?

So, how many of you stayed single or childless for the sake of the Kingdom? And how many people in your Hall are single or childless for that reason?
by BonaFide inin my hall growing up, i remember 6 childless couples.
some have died, some are still alive.. i stayed single for the kingdom, hope to change that.. presently in my congregation, there are 4 brothers over 30, two over 40, that are single for the kingdom.
and about 10 single sisters over 25.. three of the five married elders have no children.

I had a close friend that is in her 20s that is married that I knew would love to have kids but no...
As for myself, I'm newly out but still trying to wrap my head around the concept of having kids because it was so much drilled into me that it was horror if you had kids...horrible world to grow up in, problems with them, etc etc

Yes! I know I do. The sad thing is I know, I know I do and I try to stop but I still do. I don't know how it ever works out between men and women, we are so different!
