Looney Tunes were "too violent" for us to watch. The Smurfs were considered "demonic" when I was a kid. Disney cartoons were allowed- woohoo. Humphrey the Bear was my favorite

What Would You Like to Tell The Governing Body?
by AK - Jeff inwe assume that they or their dupes read this forum, or parts of it, right?
address your comments to them.
do so kindly, and respectfully, remembering that it is their religion, and they can run it like they like.

I'd share an "experience" (they like those, right?) that a good friend wrote regarding what they learned:
I looked at him with angry eyes holding down my head with only my new world translation inbetween us. The fool simply said, how do you know you have truth? The arrogance! How could he lack so much humility! Didn't he know that I was one of Jehovah's chosen ones! One of his faithful sheep and Jehovah chose to impart knowledge upon me because of my vast humilty that he would never understand. His lack of humility was disgusting. I couldn't wait to see him die at Armagedon, and die he will. At that moment I had learned the true meaning of love!

post - df experience
by Solace1998 init was a shock to many when i was df'ed -- .
but i found afterwards, many did not want to obey the arrangement... one sister cornered me at a local supermarket, and made sure everything was okay with me, and if i ever needed someone to talk to, that she and her hubby were available... .
there is more to this, but another sister i worked with was quite ardent about talking to me about much more than just work .

I hear ya loud and clear. Its a tad frustrating to get so much knowledge and then have to calculate how to dispess it to active family members.

Ah, yes...thanx for the flashback!! My parents tried everything to get me to come back to "the truth". I remember them dragging the circuit overseer and every pioneer under the sun to "try to encourage" me. In a dumb teenage move, I remember trying to convince the circuit overseer how cool smoking was. Hahaha, good times.

Andre- Did your parents go on purity rampages after special talks? I remember my mom throwing out all my cd's because some of them "promoted ideas that would lead to immoral thinking".

Do active JW's on this forum still practice shunning?
by Thechickennest injust wondering if active jw's on this forum or jw's just watching this board still put into practice in one way or another, shunning?.
what is the motivation do so?
is it to save face or relationships?
-
LeHarlot
Although I'm not an active JW, I still see shunning practiced by my family. I've actually become quite good friends with two people AFTER their disfellowshipping. In both instances my friends were treated cruelly by the elders and on top of it barred from contact with the "friends". I really wonder, who would want to be friends with a JW if they aren't going to stick with you through the tough times in your life?
