i was raised roman catholic, went to a parochial school for 8 years, public high school, the usaf for 4 years during vietnam, got my first good job after the military in 1974 at age 25, got married in 1976, went to pentecostal, baptist churches for awhile, and was presbyterian for 8 years during my first marriage that ended after 10 years.

Welcome! There are many here that have gone through the same and worse. Unlike the JW's this is a very helpful and accepting place, from what I've seen. I've only been coming here about a week, and have made up my mind on that much. Hope you stay.
I can't read the whole thing until it get some corrective formatting. OUCH! MY EYES!
By the way, and this is the only time you will ever hear me say this, you may want to use Internet Explorer to make posts on this site, rather than Firefox or some other browser. The site isn't set up to work well with Firefox. If you use IE a little window pops up where you can make paragraphs, quote things, etc.

when i was a child, my grandpa, who was an elder, told me that if you are of the annointed, you just know.

They wouldn't say anything. They would run when they saw the KJV. (And the Bagavhad Gita, and the Tao Te Ching, and the Nietzsche, and the WW II books, and just about everything else that isn't JW related).

How does someone become annointed? When I was a child, my grandpa, who was an elder, told me that if you are of the annointed, you just know. (Like God talks to you? If you weren't a JW they would put you in the loony bin for that!) I can't help but feeling that the WTS probably hand picks the annointed ones and tell them who they are. I'm thinking if you partake at the Memorial and have not talked to the elders/WTS you will get DF'd like a mofo.
If to be an annointed one you have to be born before a certain year, 1925 I think I remember hearing somewhere, almost all of them have received their "heavenly reward" by now. This also means the WTS has probably had to change their views on the annointed in recent times, which fits their style perfectly.
Psychologically speaking, it seems like the annointed ones play a very important role in the grand scheme of things, almost like JW sports heroes. Spread them out equally, so there is one in every congregation or two, and you have people that get to be close to JW superstars. Kind of like miniature cult leaders, if you will.
I didn't explain all that the best way possible, can't seem to come up with the right words at this moment because God doesn't talk to me, but I would really like to know how the annointed are chosen.

Sing Praises to Jehober
by gloobster inlast week when i was tipsy i ordered a copy of sing praises to jehovah, and it came in the mail today.
i hadn't heard some of the songs since i was a child, and i've rediscovered some of the lyrics.
they are quite amusing (albeit disturbing).. this is a classic everyone knows, song number 2. .

Do all GB members claim to be anointed?
by passwordprotected indoes anyone have documented 'evidence' that all of the gb members are anointed, included those appointed to the body in 2005/6?
as some of the newest members were formally 'nethinim', are we to believe that these men, some of whom are in their 50s, are of the remnant of 144,000, and if so, could this be the reason behind the dropping of 1935?

I have never understood clearly how someone becomes annointed. I've been told that they "just know". Are there special annointed application forms that you have to send into the annointed GB for annointed approval? Do you get an annointed class membership card? Can the GB tell you that you're not annointed if their annointed selves don't annointedly like you?
