I agree with tweety.

I also think that some people are definately not cut out for marriage. It doesn't make you a bad person, your personality just doesn't qualify you to be in that sort of a situation. And if that's the case, you need to realize that, and not string someone else along. And you surely shouldn't get married, because then your just screwing over the person your married to.

Also, a lot of people get in a marriage and convince themselves the grass is greener on the otherside. When in reality, everybody has their hangups and issues, and there is no such thing as the perfect person your always going to get along with. This isn't disney.

ok, so here's my story as it stands right now.

my husband and i have been married for 6 1/2 years.

about 2 weeks after we were married, he was appointed as a ministerial servant.

Heybaby, you just have to step back and look at things in the most basic of concepts. There are very key things that the WTBTS just throw out. One of those is the many many scriptures that tell us not to judge others. When the WTBTS thrives on judging others, as you clearly met first hand here.

If you feel that something is wrong, persue that, and figure out why. Because if your not true to yourself, and true to what you feel is right and wrong, then your just lying to yourself and God anyways.

sleep deprivation.

does anyone here have or have had a problem sleeping at night?.

you can take a wild guess as to what i may have to attribute to this.... .

when i try to sleep ar night.... mind thinks and wanders to all sorts of terrible things that could be happening to me at anytime.

I have no problems sleeping, which is quite amazing, since as a child I use to have issues. These days I hit the pillow and I'm out within a few minutes.

I do remember I use to have a similar problem, staying up thinking about stuff that stresses me out. And then, one day, I had this grand realization that I thought about stuff at completely the wrong time.

If your going to worry about stuff, school yourself to worry about it when you can actually affect it. This is the most important thing you can do when it comes to managing stress and fears.

At 1am in the morning, there is nothing you can do about a bill that needs to be payed, or a conversation that needs to be held. Your literally wasting mental capacity by worrying when you can't do anything about it right then.

And catch yourself when you start to steamroll your own mind. People love to think about one thing, realize it's a problem, and then move onto another problem, and try to realize how grand it is. Instead of sticking with the first problem and reasoning it out. So by hopping from one bad thing the next, your basically just panicing yourself.

I'd have to say the whole thing depends on the value you put on Marriage. Personally I would say you should get married once, but be sure about the person before you marry them. Seems like so many people get married and they don't really trust the person, or really know them. So in all reality they should still be dating.

I say you should definately date different people, before you get married. I don't know how many different girls I had to date before I figured out what I really liked and disliked in a woman. And now I have the greatest wife in the world! haha

it appears to be a bunch of former jw people bashing everything they can get their hands on in relation to jw's.. .

i was brought up as a jw, but when i got older and started to think for myself, i began to realize that i didn't agree with their teachings.

yeah, i'm finding some interesting reads on this site already. I threw out a lot of my beliefs along time ago, and started from scratch. And by scratch I mean, I had to first answer "do i believe in God", which yes I do.

so i was wondering........why do jw's insist that jesus was not put on a "cross" but on a stake?

Personally I don't understand the point on either side. Cross or Stake, what does it matter? The fact of what Jesus did for us is the only thing I've found of any importance. I think it's just that people need some sort of physical symbolism to hold onto. I'd have to say one of the earlier posters are probably correct, the whole thing is just an effort to trash what someone else finds important. When in reality, if looking upon a cross makes someone appreciate what Jesus did for us, then more power to them.

these forums are a bit difficult to navigate for me. Although I may just be going brain dead. For instance, when I click on the Friends forum. It says newest, but the posts aren't in the correct order. And I don't see this thread. I've only been able to access this thread by going through my profile. Hmmmm

Yeah, THINK.... very important I agree.

I'm happy to hear there is a mix. The years since I've been a JW I've met so many people that are so devout to God. Maybe they are baptist, or catholic, or whatever. The main thing I came to realize, which contradicts what the JW teach, is that I think all these people are exactly what God wants. I really think he just wants people that believe in Him. Hence the atheist question, since I do have trouble with them, although I try to play nice and avoid starting crap haha.

I have a lot of family that is still JW, and quite a few friends, and for the most part we are all on neutral grounds. However I had one friend recently really tear into me, waving their "truth" and "of the world" crap. And it kinda made me look around the internet, and here I am.

Alright, so I'm reading on this site, and I'm not 100% sure what it's about. It appears to be a bunch of former JW people bashing everything they can get their hands on in relation to JW's.

I was brought up as a JW, but when I got older and started to think for myself, I began to realize that I didn't agree with their teachings. I wouldn't say I 100% disagree, but I disagree enough that I refuse to attend any kingdom Halls. However, at the same time I find that most other churches seem wrong as well. In fact, I find a huge problem with organized religion in general. I came to these conclusions on my own, nobody assited me in leaving the JW, I guess I wasn't so far gone that I forgot how to form my own opinion.

On the bright side, I think I'm closer to God these days then I ever was growing up. So am I on the wrong site, is this the former JW now Atheist site?
