one thing i really hate.
the wbts basically says that if your child does not grow up a productive members of jehovah's witnesses, in spite of everything else they may be capable of achieving, you fail as a parent.
this bothers me.
I think there is a lot of room for parental failure for sure, but the WTBTS ideas of how far that extends is definately whack.
I remember being about 8 years old, and realized that my parents were idiots that I couldn't count on. And the reason they were idiots had nothing to do with the Org. They just couldn't see past their own lives to take responsibility for the children they brought into this world.
Thank goodness my Grandparents stepped up and took care of me.

little children by tom perrotta.. excellently portrayed 2 unhappily married suburbans who's repetitive wrong choices impact a their dull lives, yet alter your own moral thinking of them being heroic in their quest to find happiness with a self imprisoned/trapped marriage they each lead.

I had a pointless interview last week, the job description asked for a bunch of skills I didn't have. Granted I had like 80% of them, but the 20% I didn't have seemed important. Yes they still wanted me to come in for an interview. I guess maybe they just wanted their boss to see they were trying hehe.
so now that i've read as much as i could in the last 2 months and made my decision that this isn't the organization i thought it was, i'm scared, terrified, and feel helpless in some ways.
my mom is a devout jw, a pioneer, her husband of the 'anointed', and they are very 'spiritually strong'.
i'm wanting to compile a mini book to send to her with all the reasons and proof from wt books and magazines with quotes and stuff.
First suggestion is to make sure you've got yourself 100% figured out. After that you can concern yourself with the opinions of others.
Keep in mind, that while you may write out all your reasoning, this is just going to give them something to analyze and potentially justify their belief that your wrong. So if you write something to them, be prepared for it to have any number of effects, from very good to very bad.
I personally don't try to debate with JW's on doctrine, that is where they shine. I usually like to debate with them on moral issues. Concepts of kindness and goodness that aren't being shown by the "organization".

Sci-Fi
"The Praxis" by Walter Williams
Really cool trilogy that is set in the super distant future, some alien race conquored all the intelligent species of the galaxy, got bored with being an immortal super race and just killed themselves off. Now all the species, humans included, gotta figure out how to rule in their absence.
99% Non-Fiction
"102 Minutes" by Jim Dwyer and Kevin Flynn
This is story of the 102 minutes of the World Trade center incident. Basically the period of time from the first plane hit to the last tower falling. It has nothing to do with consipiracy theories. The book is basically tries to go chronologically through what was happening in the towers. It pieces together 911 calls, survivor stories, police / fire communications and so on to tell the story as best they can of what happened. Basically a story about the people inside.
Fantasy
"Song of Fire and Ice" by George R.R. Martin
An unfiniiished series, currently at 4 books. The story is so good, that at times you'll be so mad you might throw the book at the wall. One of the few authors I've ever read, that tells a no BS story. The good guys don't always win.
