So the Father is not a person because the Bible doesn't say so? Is Jesus a person? What is your point?

jesus denies being God! scriptural discussion.
by reniaa ini thought after recently reading the bible i would put up for disussion some recent scriptures up which for me show that jesus never viewed himself as god and anyone listening would also see it this way too.. first mark 10 :17-20.
17as jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him.
"good teacher," he asked, "what must i do to inherit eternal life?

Joseph, I would hope that you are the only one who can see that, because it just isn't there. How can an angel standing in the son, and the Word sitting on a horse be the same, just because it says "and I saw" in between? The angel in the sun part comes right between two mentions of the Son of God on a horse, which is followed by "and I saw the beast". Are you going to say that the beast is also the same main character as the son and the angel??? Just read the text with no preconceived notions, and it will be plain to see!

It is worth noting in I Thess. 4:16 that not only does Christ come down with the voice of the Archangel, but also with the trumpet call of God. The same argument that would point to him being the archangel would also point to him being God

Another point I'd like to make is that Jesus said in Acts 1:8 that we are to be His witnesses, not Jehovah's witnesses. In the OT we are told "you are my witnesses says Jehovah", but in the NT that is transferred to Christ. Why, if He is not God? Who did Paul preach? ACT 9:20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God. ACT 17:18 b because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection. ROM 15:19 b I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. 1CO 1:23 but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles foolishness, 2CO 4:5 For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus' sake. EPH 3:8 To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ, PHI 1:18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. Who did Paul seek to know? What was his goal in life? PHI 3:7-12 But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. It is Jesus. He is God, God the Son, and God's son.

As far as I know, no one has mentioned that Thomas called Jesus "My Lord and my God" in John 20:28, and Jesus never contradicted him, but rather commended him. There are just so many places where Jesus is given the respect or title that only God deserves. John 1:1, John 10:30, Philippians 2:5-11, Col. 1:15-20. Another place where Jesus makes a claim to be God can be seen in the comparison of Psalm 23 and John 10. Psalm 23 says "Jehovah is my shepherd" Jesus says "I am the Good Shepherd" in John 10:8, he says "all who came before me were thieves and robbers". How many Gods are there? How many Shepherds are there? The Bible is clear that there is only one God, and Jesus is the second person of the only God.

This website is a well done farce. You had me going for a minute there with that sermon. I don't doubt that there are some "Christians" that believe this way, but certainly not my baptist church! Here is a link to the "Landover" Baptist Church, which I would venture to say does not exist. http://wwwlandoverbaptist.org/thestaff/youth/ and another http://www.landoverbaptist.org/thestaff/youth/weaver.html Just check out things before believing everything you read or hear. That is probably the biggest problem with the JWs, they don't investigate, and are discouraged from investigating other views.

Hell Does Not Exist
by megs inaccording to spong, not only does hell not exist, but neither does the divinity of christ, a theistic god, miracles, the redemptive property of jesus' death on the cross, his resurrection, his ascension, and many other things besides.

stillin4now, I read the article you posted, and agree with some, but not all of it. While it is true that many "Christians" have taken liberty with the concept of hell, (including the 7 youths) this does not take away what the Bible actually does say about eternal punishment and judgement. One of the most attractive doctrines of the JW religion is that hell does not exist. The Bible does not teach that. You can call it what you want, Hades, Gehenna, etc. but Jesus clearly teaches that it is better to be maimed in this life than to suffer torment in the life to come. There is a coming judgement, and there is a lake of fire, and there is a torment forever and ever. We can bury our head in the sand and pretend it is not there, or we can accept the truth as the Bible teaches it. There is no lie the devil would like to propogate more than the idea of no eternal punishment for mankind. Jesus came to rescue us from this destiny.

How did God do it?
by nicolaou inevolutionists are always called on to explain how a complicated organ like an eye could have come about "by chance" - as if any scientist ever claimed that's what happened.
but there are shelves of books in your library that will explain the process of natural selection, some are written so simply that a child can grasp the basic concept.
you don't have to accept it but at least an explanation is offered.

2050, if you can't see the possibility of the existence of a creator in the nature around us, it is because you have deliberately shut out that possibility. You cannot prove the relationship of all life from similarities in DNA. It just isn't scientific proof. Scientific proof requires that a theory be repeated, showing the same results. We simply do not have scientific proof, yet evolutionary scientists will refuse to consider an intelligent designer for all the design we see all around us. Is there, in your opinion, any possibility at all that God could exist, or do you refuse to consider that as a viable option?

Why does the WTBT Society exist?
by Princess Daisy Boo inthey don't really have the truth so it can't be that?
unless "they" at the top truly believe it - do you think they do?.
is it for monetary gain?

Great question and discussion. I wonder who is the highest former JW on this discussion, and what is your opinion of whether the higher ups know that they are deceiving people?
