Inrainbows, and if you look there are plenty as well that say it is not man-made. All I'm saying is, and this applies to both sides, the topic has turned political instead of scientific. Both sides can produce data to back up their claims. So what is the solution? I'll be honest, once I hear taxing the US or "carbon offsets" I tune out. I just really think it has turned agenda driving.

Have all you people forgotten everything we have learned?? The dinosaurs were all killed by the Great Flood which was also the cause of all the Earths abnormalities!
But seriously, I found something pretty interesting, there could be a correlation or not. But the sun had a period of slight inactivity for the past month or so. In fact last month the science world noted the sun was void of sun spots. Sun spots are surrounded by intense magnetic activity and are the origin of solar flares and solar storms. The cooler summer here could be attributed to the suns quiet period right now. And no, I'm not a scientist, I just stayed at a Holiday Inn! but here's the sun spot link.
http://www.dailytech.com/Sun+Makes+History+First+Spotless+Month+in+a+Century/article12823.htm
And as far as global warming goes, it's a cycle. Most scientists believe the Earth is warming......but good luck trying to find a credible one saying that man is causing it.

I've got 3 that come to mind immediately.
Disfellowshipping is a loving provision along with the saying, doing it to "shock them to their senses." They alienate, shun, and break up families under the false pretence of keeping the cong clean. More like they don't want to lose control so scare active members, "this could be you if you slip up."
Next is service is a command from J. If I remember Jesus said "go... and make disciples." I don't remember him saying, go and make disciples only after you've been deemed worthy by a panel of 3 and then report every second to a publishing company and you can only say exactly what we tell you to say.
Lastly is J is so loving for creating us with "freewill" so we can choose to serve him. So in reality we have freewill as a gift but if we use freewill we will be destroyed. How crazy is that?

Banned from my sisters wedding
by LunaFing ini'm feeling rejected and hurt because i've just been informed that i am not invited to my little sisters wedding.
first, here's a little background story on my relationship with her: she and i are three years apart.
when we were younger we were very close (i was in the "truth" back then).

I don't get it too amama2six. Have you ever seen or been to a deaf sign language hall? They have a normal speaker, as you guessed mostly "bro's" and the signer, which is always a "sis" has to wear the head thing just to sign!?!?!? But as I said in my earlier post, most things are done just for show. Almost always void of any logic or reason.

Sorry to hear all that, it sounds like your both in a tough spot. I was raised a JW so I know how it all works. I guarantee the elders told her that "scripturally" there's nothing wrong with it, but it comes down to a "conscience matter." And I think we all know how "conscience matters" go, they are programed to say "NO." And I also bet she is being praised by elders and others on how such a strong and brave stand she is taking. That in turn will only feed her making her believe she is doing "the right thing." Remember, everything with them based on how it makes them look, she must look pretty damn strong in their eyes. And as I said that only validates her. Till she gets older and could start to realize what a mistake she made. Remember the "cong" comes before family every-time! Most times not by choice but by how they believe they are supposed to act. I short hang in their and try to love love her unconditionally even though that is surely conditional on their part.

New meeting arrangement - just over 5 months to go
by passwordprotected inat the recent dc the new meeting arrangement was mentioned just once, but not to give us further details on how the new meeting will be structured or how the r&f will be cared for.. .
instead the audience was urged not the second guess the gb, being advised to look at how well the spirit has directed the org up until now, so therefore it will do so into the future.. .
but the reality is the congregations are only just over 5 months away from this new meeting arrangement, yet they know little about how it'll actually affect them.. .

"Instead the audience was urged not the second guess the GB, being advised to look at how well the spirit has directed the Org up until now, so therefore it will do so into the future." It sounds like many are starting to question this "new light" with the hindsight of what we all have been told for so long. The Book study is the most important of all the 5 meetings, there WILL be a time when that is all we will have. But I guess that was said due to the fact that, that was most missed meeting! So to a group that is so hell-bent on numbers, just eliminate it! Now the meeting attendance looks much better!

Afraid of the end of the world?
by LearningMore ini am wondering how much of my anxiety about the end of the world is from the wt experience, and how much is just me.
i just watched wall-e, and while a cute movie, it really made me anxious.

I go through phases. You hear it's sooooo close for so long and it sticks with you. Most of my fam are in and some pretty hard core. I've heard countless "signs" that they say point to this as being the "last days", no really, the very very very last days. From the price of gas and the economy to global warming now to global cooling or climate change, the unrest in the middle east you name it, it's a sign. And at times I've found myself reaching the same way, till logic sets in!

Well, here's something that got me sratching my head. I was chatting with my mom about the "new" book-study deal or the doing away with rather. She told me how "wonderfull" the brothers are and how this is proof, proof I say, of how close we really are!!!!!!!!!!
No correct me if but it was not to long ago we heard that the Book Study will soon be the MOST important of all the meetings as the "end draws near."

JWs and the Mentally Challenged
by almostbitten ini know three women from the local kh (one is a distant relative of mine) who call on my uncle for bible study.
problem is, he has alzheimer's disease--and they were told about this!!!

It has been my experience that the "Organization" attracts 2 types of people. One is the status seeking male that starts to realize that being a good speaker and able to put in hours will get you far. And the other is the clinically depressed that are reaching for anything. Let’s face it, on the surface it sounds great, who doesn't want to live in a "paradise" when you have or think you have nothing else? I personally know allot of "friends" that have some deep rooted mental problems from depression all the way to being bi-polar and beyond. Here is a link for some good and interesting reading: http://www.seanet.com/~raines/mental.html
