I've been depressed lately.
by Butyoucanneverleave inmy husband and i went to visit his family for the holidays.
not everyone showed for the visit ,the weather was lousy, and it just generally sucked.
now we're back to the same old routine with work and life and we're both depressed and alone.

Sorry to hear you've been depressed.
I guess it happens to all of us at some point(s) in our lives and can be hard to deal with.
There are some things you may want to try to hopefully brighten up your future.
These are just some suggestions that have helped me as well as others and it will be great if it can help you as well.
First go to Meetup.com and look for any Ex-JW meetups near you. (even if you are fading and don't want to chance going to one you can still check to see whats in your area)
Make sure to type in the search Ex-JW meetups to bring up the list.
Also I would strongly recommend going out with your hubby and trying new things such as sports, hobby's,museums and various volunteer work in your local community.
You can meet many nice people this way and maybe form some friendships that are not based on religion at all.
My wife and I have had good turn outs this way, as well as establishing relationships with some of our extended family that are not Witnesses.
Wishing you and your hubby better times ahead,

i think this is a really well done video and has some excellent points made and presented.
Just one issue with it though.
At around the 7:35-7:38 time marks on this video he states that he has told millions then probably billions of people about the generation that wouldn't pass away.
There are very few people on this earth that have ever reached a billion people with any message (or even songs etc)
If he gave talks in every Kingdom Hall in the world and spoke at every Assembly/Convention, the most he would reach would be between maybe 7-14 million people.
Then add in every single person he could have possibly talked to in field service and I can grant you it would fall far short of the one Billion mark, much less Billions.
I think he got caught up in it and said billions by mistake but the rest of what I heard in the video sounded spot on and would like to say thanks for posting it and sharing your experience(s). -

Revelation 8:8 Is a comet / asteroid heading here soon?
by FuzzyPaul ini have read a lot and watched some you-tube videos (some by marginally lunatic fringe christians - not necessarily invalidating) searching for asteroid september 2015 or comet september 2015.. there is some biblical evidence that, if one doesn't spiritualize / make literally invalid by symbolic exercise, that at the time of the end of the age there will be a uniquely severe, single great earthquake (isaiah 29:6, zecharia 4:7, haggia 2:6, revelation 6:12, revelation 16:18) and destructive objects described as hail, mountains falling from the sky, stars falling onto earth.
i note that ancients would not recognize the vastness of outer space and meteroids, asteroids, comets, planets being what we know them as.. there is also the exact symbol of "then the second angel blew his trumpet, and a great mountain of fire was thrown into the sea.
one-third of the water in the sea became blood, one-third of all things living in the sea died, and one-third of all the ships on the sea were destroyed.

First Post and Using the memorial to wake up family members

Hi and welcome to the forum dgeero !
Ask your family where in the bible is it required/commanded to go be a "respectful observer" .
Even in their translation it says " as often as you eat this loaf and drink this cup" (never once mentions about going to be a observer)
Once you establish the fact that it's not biblical/scriptural practice, then follow that up with asking them questions about when was this Observer mode started, because it wasn't always a Watchtower/JW requirement (let them research it to help open their eyes)
Hope that helps

What Do I Do With This RED Book?
by Cold Steel insome guys visited me a couple of times, and i asked them about the book of revelation.
one of them brought me a red book with a lot of illustrations and at the end of every page or so the guy had dated the day he had read it.
he also marked certain passages.

You could always spray paint the book blue and then insert some apostate leaflets into it.
That way if they returned and wanted it back you could tell them it changed/evolved and that they may want to look into it and see what it's trying to tell them. -

The Village
Shawshank Redemption (mainly ex-jW's will get the references in this film but to the right JW its possible to see some correlation)
And just a few days ago I watched "Religulous" A documentary film dealing with many types of religion, hosted and narrated by Bill Maher.
Even though it doesn't mention JW's, the part near the end about Mormons is eerily similar to WT Org.
Notice the ex-Mormons for example and how they are treated. -

But as I suspect many realise I have never really fit in here.
I think this is the crux of the problem. He may have issues about making friends etc.
And the world can be a lonely place for those without enough support away from the WT Org.Remember how the Org likes to use the phrase "where else will you go?"
After they have held you in for so long its almost like they taunt you by saying that.
I cannot speak for him since I do not know all about his family life as well as how long he spent in the WT Org but I can say that since I've been away from the BORG my family life has never been happier.
I left with my family intact but understand that many haven't been as fortunate in that aspect. One thing I do know is that once you've peered behind the curtain (Wizard of Oz reference) and seen that its not a wizard at all calling the shots, only an old man filled with his own errors, problems and inflated ego of himself you can never truly believe in him ever again.
Same way with the GB of JW's. Once you've seen that they are merely men, claiming to speak for God but failing in so many ways and getting so many things wrong, you can never truly have the " faith "in them that you once had.
Things seen cannot be unseen, no matter how much we may wish it to be so.
Anyways in closing I wish you all the best Slim but in my heart I feel you will be back, even if its under another screen name.
It is hard for me to believe that anyone with as many post as you had (8000+) and been here since 2004 wil not at least stop by and read even if they don't post anymore.I will leave you with one scripture that the WT always loved to use on others 2 Peter 2:22
"The saying of the true proverb has happened to them:"The dog has returned to its own vomit, and the sow that was bathed to rolling in the mire."P.S. Even though its rare it does happen from time to time that some do return to the WT for whatever reason.
Remember Gumby that knew most of it was BS but returned for his wife and family. Each one has to carry their own load so if they can stomach it for sake of family or friends then more power to them. Maybe one day they will return here with their whole family intact. -
