Welcome Whiskeysix!
It's always great to see someone else escape and break free of the Watchtower.
When a couple can come out together that is just awesome.
At this juncture of your journey in life, do you and your wife consider yourself as believers or non-believers?
Are you leaning more towards Atheist/Agnostic or Theist/Deist?

One of the best vid's I've ever seen for debunking and disproving Jehovah's Witnesses
by StoneWall inas some of you know i'm not a religious person at all after leaving the jw's but there was a link on another site i was on and the link was to a pastor's vid.
(about exposing jw's as false prophets etc)being that i'm not at all interested in hearing a sermon, i was going to just leave the site and continue researching some other stuff but then curiosity made me wonder if he truly knew anything about jw's or was just going to be another religious leader downing jw's in an effort to make his version of the "gospel" sound more appealing.i have to admit i was pleasantly surprised at the extent of his knowledge of scripture that jw's like to use as well as the history behind the organization.
many of the points he brought out we've covered here before and he arranged them in an easy to understand and follow sequence.i'd be interested in hearing what some of you think on the job he did on exposing the jw's(wt)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3o56jwgbjk.

Nellis I agree totally about there being thousands of videos out there if someone is willing to look because i personally have checked out probably close to the hundred mark if not higher.
That is why I give this one a passing mark.
I knew just the fact that this was done by a "Pastor" that somewhere along the lines he'd get in a jab or two about what he believes because after all he is in front of his congregation.
But the thing that impressed me about it was he went all the way from C.T. Russell (first prez of the WT society) down through 1914,1925 dates along with the predictions, speculations and other outlandish things the Society had said/written with the quotes and documentaion to back it up, then all the way up to the 1975 fiasco and beyond without making it seem like Information Overload to me.
All within a time frame of some 40+ minutes. (Less time than the average public talk at a Kingdom Hall years ago)
Mickey mouse I also agree with your comment about the interest starting about the 7 minute mark.
I like to post the whole vid so no one can make the argument I edited something out etc..
Basically the first few minutes are him exchanging greetings, pleasantries and being cordial with his congregation.
I personally didn't have a problem with that but in the interest of time if any want to skip the first approx. 7 minutes and get into the discussion about JW's please feel free to do so.
Even though I'm not a believer or religious it still is nice for me to see people treat others with humanity and respect whether they are Theist/Atheist or Deist. So the first few minutes not being in-depth discussion did not bother me in the least but i understand everyone's time is limited and valuable.
Also thanks to everyone for your comments and feedback.
My hope is if this Pastor can deliver something like this that others will do so at their respective places of worship to keep many other families from becoming enslaved to the JW's (WTBTS)
It at the very least may give them the ammo they need to use to either protect their family or use to make the person knocking on their door re-think what they "know" about their Organization. -

What do you think is the source of your consciousness? Can it be copied or transferred?
by EndofMysteries inthis seems to be a question that even scientifically is still in the air.
right now your consciousness, is it the physical part of the brain?
the electrical signals in the brain?
-
StoneWall
Think of this in relation to what others have said about cloning or putting our brain patterns in another form.(fleshly or robotic)
When you cut certain starfish a specific way and remove their arms, they can regenerate complete whole new bodies.(in time) Is the starfish that you started with the same now? Are the duplicates now sharing an intellect/instinct?
Even certain worms can be cut into and grow into two bodies from the one. Are they the same? How are they different? -
10 Weird FACTS about Orgasms
by StoneWall inwho knew all this data and research was being compiled on both male and female orgasms.some of this goes very much against our jw upbringing as far as health and fitness of the human body.yet it makes so much sense, like less prostrate cancer in males that have more than one orgasm a week etc..and guys next time your woman says she isn't in the mood because she has a headache, show her this research of the best way to relieve those headaches.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tm0q7kmzuoi.

John Denver: On being human
by StoneWall ini have renewed respect and admiration for john denver after watching/listening to this video.some of it reminds me of words by another john, john lennon.i really regret that my jw upbringing made me dislike john denver after some things he had said about jw's in his earlier career.
i would have loved to have heard this talk back in 1980 when it was first recorded.it hits home on so many levels of what we discuss on this very forum.
everything from evolution to spirituality, humanity to religion, the ineptitude of modern politics to solve mankind's problems.the things which we allow to divide us as humans but more importantly the things which we all should allow to unite us.it is 2 hours in length but i didn't regret the time spent watching it because it was one of those things that show that he had very similar ideas, philosophies, and feelings that have been expressed on here.after what many of us have been through on our journey and trying to escape a religion that we found we were trapped/bound to in some form or another, something tells me he'd felt right at home being with us.this recording is almost 36 years old so the sound and picture quality might not be what we're accustomed to today but is so worth the watching of it.

Has anyone else collected their money back from local Kingdom Halls for money loaned for construction?
by StoneWall injust a reminder if you haven't, to get it back before they sell any more halls.even if you're currently da/df you can still collect any monies owed you by the kingdom hall as far as loans go.we were able to get back $1000 that my mom had loaned the local hall for a loan to build new one.it was documented by the paper that had been given each publisher back then on how much they could/would be willing to give as an outright donation or a loan.
the loan was to be paid back whenever the publisher requested it.
(not a specific date)i can't help but feel that a lot of the old timers that loaned monies to the society and/or k-halls have been forgot about by them or their families.

Wow how i do remember those frigging anxiety/panic attacks of years ago.
Felt like I was dying and having a heart attack at a young age.
When I went to the Emergency room and they hooked me to the EKG and saw that I had arrhythmia.
Funny thing it was when I was first learning the truth about the "truth" and I think trying to process all of that in such a short period in the beginning took its toll.
I never went to a single therapist or took any meds but there were times I couldn't get out of bed because of feeling so tired from where my heart raced so fast and the tightness in it.
After a few months (about 6-8 iirc) I got to the point one day that I just told myself I'm tired of wondering if there was a God,if the bible was right or wrong, if the sun would explode ,if the world would end etc..
I was like if this is how I'm going to feel from now on that I didn't care if i lived because it sucked and death at that point in my life would've been like a release.
So I basically said something similar to what Cool Hand Luke said in the movie, along the lines of God if you're there, love me,hate me, hit me with lightning, fire from heaven it don't matter. Just show me if you're there.
There was no response.
So late that night I made myself a promise.I would never ever let another person or organization tell me what God expects of me. If he can tell them what he expects of me then he can tell me. My door is always open.
Needless to say my panic/anxiety attacks ceased. I started sleeping better and actually my whole outlook on life improved.
To this day I've never regretted that decision.
And as many others have pointed out on this forum in time it does get better.
Try and surround yourself with positive influences such as some family that maybe aren't JW's as well as going to some meet-ups if possible. Also do some hobby's,sports, movies, and some books that you may have put off because of the JW religion.
Anyhow wishing and hoping you the best possible turn out.

A great suggestion from a current Bethelite on the chopping block
by Gilbeath Haaraloth ina very close friend of mine has gotten his letter.
although he was planning to leave willingly, he told me that he can't help but feel a sense of being stabbed in the back by a bunch of self righteous traitors.
he gave tours for years, always telling the visitors "this is the best way of life, i would never change anything here and i'll never regret making this decision to come here.

On the subject of male circumcision there has already been much discussion on this forum for both the pro's and con's of it.
If you want to see a whole lot that have appeared on this very forum type in the search box the word foreskin.
Some are very educational while others have a bit of humor regarding certain bible passages relating to it and such.
One thread you may want to check out Gilbeath is this one:
