first husband: met at a congregation picnic. He teased me. I married him. I should have kicked him in the balls and run away instead.
True Love: met in Town Square chat room on AOL. It was love at first sight. He wasn't a witness; I asked him to study; he did but found "inconsistencies." I was SO in love with him but distance and religious differences were a problem I couldn't manage to overcome, and after two years I just kinda quit calling him anymore. I thought I was doing the right thing and pleasing Jehovah.
Husband: met on the internet as well. Was definitely NOT love at first sight, middle sight or even last sight. H was much more aggressive though, and convinced me that True Love wasn't really interested in me if he wasn't willing to change his whole life to be with me. H studied and got baptized and moved to my city and dated me after I "broke up" with true love. H wined and dined me and impressed me with the lifestyle he could provide. Then he proposed. I turned him down. But about a month later in a moment of depression and defeat I curled up in a ball and told him I would marry him if that's what he wanted. Why? I didn't have the heart to hurt him, and I didn't have the strength to be single again. I felt I would never meet anyone who loved me ever again. I figured security was worth something and maybe I would grow to love him, but if I didn't, he was relatively pleasant to talk to and I'd be taken care of in any case.
I am now separated from Husband. True Love never married. Who knows what the future holds?

The "strange sights" are what happens when you hold your breath almost to unconsciousness, duh!
Maybe the GB should outlaw hitting your head on something, in case you "see stars". -

I never have been able to get a satisfactory answer to my yoga question (even though now it's irrelevant to me, but I'm still curious):
Does yoga have religious elements? Would it really violate a JW's belief to practice it?
When I ask people who do yoga, they don't really understand my question. You guys would. So, if you've practiced yoga, what's it like? Is it religious? Can it be just exercise without religious elements?
ps. Malasian Islam just banned its Muslims from practicing Yoga:

it also banned tomboys. -

we just recently dropped down from a "rich" plan to a high deductible. I don't know what we were thinking when we chose the more expensive plan, but this year when I figured it out, we pretty much pay the same exact amount anyway and if we were REALLY sick, we'd pay more with the more expensive plan! The high deductible plan kicks in at 100% everything paid after the deductible is met, while the more expensive plan still piddles you with copays and percentages forever!
Insurance is just legalized extortion IMO. -

Jesus DID doubt Jehovah and himself "why has thou forsaken me."
by Witness 007 injesus asked that "lord if this cup can be taken from my....but as you will it.
" and ofcourse while hanging he said "lord lord why have you forsaken me.
" but the watchtower puts a positive spin on this saying he as god's son wasn't doubting or changing his mind...what do you think?

I was thinking this week about the parallel between Isaac and Jesus. Both were put into the hands of their fathers to be sacrificed. Abraham put out his hand to kill Isaac and was stopped at the final moments. Perhaps Jesus wasn't certain whether his death would be stopped as well.
Naaah, that doesn't make sense.
Perhaps, in order to die, you have to be outside of God's presence in that moment.
Just some thoughts. -

If an average-looking rich man pulls up in a rolls royce, and a cute poor man rides by on a bicycle, I will probably assume that the rich man is a snob. I will probably think the poor guy on a bicycle is adorable and sweet.
Just for kicks, let's pretend both of these men live halfway across the country from me and that I met both on the internet.
Now if the rich man starts writing me poetry, sends me on trips, and lavishes attention on me, I might turn my head. Even if he's ugly. If the cute poor guy says he's interested but doesn't call regularly, seems afraid of commitment, and generally thinks a few minutes of attention a day is "enough," I'll wish that things were different but I'll end up going off into the sunset with the ugly rich guy. Because the rich guy would pick up his life and move to be near me, but the poor guy would not. And the rich guy would gloat that he "won" me from the poor guy.
And then, a few years down the road, I'll wake up and realize that I'm miserable, that money buys cold material objects, and that the lack of physical attraction to the rich guy is killing me to my very soul. Because he may lavish attention on ME, but he's rude and arrogant to the rest of the world. I'll look longingly back on my pauper and wish I had given him more of a chance. Then one day I'll contact him again, and find out he's single, and start talking to him regularly, and I'll discover that he's just very shy and afraid of change, but that he's always been interested in me and knew that someday I'd be back. I'll understand him so much better and realize that what I thought was disinterest in the past was really a complete misunderstanding; that his love may not be flashy and romantic, but it's solid and lasting.
And then I'll separate from my rich S.O.B. of a husband, but then the economy will tank, and I won't be able to find a job, and I'll discover that even though my pauper has waited for me for twelve years, that I STILL can't be with him because I can't find a job to move close to him! -

Holy cow! Today is the first time I've ever heard of this group, and wow! after two hours of googling, I'm simply amazed!
AK - Jeff, you are right on the money with your comment. I guess I wasn't feeling "dumb" for being duped, but it really made me draw parallels to how HUMAN these organizations really are. Nothing God-inspired about them.
So it makes me a whole less fearful of the "what if they were right?" question.
