  Hairtrigger, you could just wait a bit. Your post will be so far back that most people will never see it again. It wouldn't be fair to the ones who responded to your original post if you were to edit it or delete it now. Keep the posts coming, though!

  Smiddy! I never saw anything in any of your posts that would warrant that sort of reaction from Simon. Ever. Maybe something goofy in the computer. For a bit there I could start a thread but not reply to a thread. I got thinking, "Maybe Simon doesn't like my replies." Which is true, sometimes he doesn't, but he usually just mocks me and let's it go. So I decided that there was some sort of glitch in the program. That's probably all it is with you.

  Jehovah's house for Sale?

  when i drive by the kingdom hall i grew up attending at but, was sold directly to a church, i get angry.

  the elders who handled the sale didn't even remove the watchtower shaped bricks on each side of the sign near the street so, now they advertise for a baptist church.

  how many times as i grew up i heard things like: you should not do work ( such as clean carpets for a church) you wouldn't want to work at a cigarette making plant or a facility that makes bombs for the military.

The House of Jehovah is a spiritual condition of united worship of the One living and true God, our father, Jehovah. These simple buildings which have been used as hubs for our Great Witnessing Work may be destroyed by the elements but true worship and and the speaking of the "one pure language of truth" will endure forever.

  as jehovah’s witnesses, we were regularly told how awful a college education is.

  i’m no longer associated with the religion but i am not so pro university.

  it’s not because i think you are better off without a degree.

  Rubadub, you're right. I was simply thinking about the love of knowledge being "truly" educated. Convincing others that I am educated is another matter. Plus, being self-taught doesn't round a person's knowledge out like "peer review" does.

  My biggest regret is that I didn't go to college when I had a chance. I took the bait from the Watchtower, hook, line and sinker. I had a decent high school education, dropped out of college, and I'm just consoling myself.

  I think that a good high school education is better than a bad college education. Meaning, if a person learns in HS how to research and find what they are looking for, they are ahead of the curve. If a person values what the world's great minds have put into books, he has a jump start that no college degree can match.

  Having said that, having a degree opens doors that stay shut for those who don't have one.

  There's nothing wrong with human kindness at all. Glad that you realize that the JW's don't have a monopoly on it.

  I had a rough patch a few years ago and was shown a lot of kindness by local Non-JW Christians. It doesn't make their religion all true but it's nice to see people trying.

  Do the Witnesses still allow women to preach in men's prisons?

  i knew of several women who would preach at the local correctional facility.

  some would do the fall in love and get married to a new convert who had a long prison sentence.

  if the witnesses had half a brain they would stop this before it ever got started.

  I have known of many "jailhouse repentances." But I don't know a single person who learned the religion in jail and kept it when he got out.

  One young man came home full of determination to stay on track. It meant so much to his Witness mother. Less than a year. Then again. Poor mom...

  They mean well, most of them. But if you're in jail and the only thing going on is your "bible study," well, the conductor has a captive audience
