imagine the shock wave if the GB allowed for disfellowshipped ones to be viewed as "worldly neighbors." After all of the families having been shatterred by "the old arrangement.". The hardliners who discarded thier free-thinking children years ago, like as if they were just trash, would be standing there, scratching thier heads, saying, "WTF???!"

Governing Body: Why Do You Want The Disloyal?
by metatron ini address this question to the governing body, to their internet monitors or to any apologist who might want to speak for them.. why do you want disloyal people in your "clean" organization?.
it should be evident by now that an untold number of people in the organization do not really want to be jehovah's witnesses any longer.
specifically, they don't want to attend meetings, or to donate money to the worldwide work, or spend real time going door to door.

by Gayle infrom beginning to end, how long did it take you, when you first started your personal questioning and re-evaluating the watchtower organization and concluding that the wts was definitely not true?
my sister is asking this.
some of us (who left a couple decades ago - pre-internet) are saying it took about 10 years on average.

in between: "endless rules" is right! The ones you mention along with others in the publications, along with whatever "Theocratic Order" is supposed to mean. If an elder asks you to do something, is it going against theocratic order to do anything different? Case in point, field service arrangements. I think that a lo of them put way too much value on thier own opinion. No fortune cookies, no this or that TV show, no more than 2 beers a day, and if you do any different, you're blacklisted by God Himself!
Lou Belle and others. I am also glad that there is a site like this to hear other opinions voiced. And to voice my own.

nobody has cornered the market on love. The claim to be the "only" ones is phony and misleading, just as "knowing" all about 607.
I don't need to be told these things. My eyes have been opening for some time now. I'm just not in any position to jump clear of all the phoniness yet. But I guess if my true feelings got "outed" I'd have my mind made up for me, wouldn't I?

frankly, I'm not so sure that ANYBODY knows when Jerusalem was destroyed for positive. I would EXPECT that there would be differences of OPINION on the matter.
And it's a dumb thing to base a faith on, or not. Yes, I'm sick of the mantra that gets repeated by the F+D slave bunch that 607 is "pivotal."
Call me lazy...I just don't care anymore. There are bigger issues in the WTS. Like maybe living up to the high ideals and principles that they proclaim. To me, kindness and justice trumps 607 anytime!

wha happened...I never did care for any of the numbers systems that the Witnesses have used over the years. I just have felt that these are "critical times" and that surely the end is near. The Witnesses seem to have gotten that right more so than any other branch of Christianity.
I just think it's a straw man argument thing. Who cares and who can really say? I'm no archeologist, so, naturally, I can be easily duped by any pseudo-archeologist. I just played along with the whole 607 thing because the math looked right, but, hey WW1 was going to happen eventually, right?

I don't know about any 607 BCE. Or any of the other stuff that can't be known. But, after it's all said and done, I really would like for my life to have counted for something of value. To have stood up for a set of principles that oppose the dark forces that seem to be driving our human family down the toilet. I thought that Jehovah's Witnesses had it straight, but these days it seems that it's a business, run on the grass-roots level like a dictatorship by small-minded men hungry for authority.
I still see the skeleton of the "truth" in there, but I want to be careful about my choices.
I'm glad that there are others here who are still in varying degrees of staying active. I feel like they are more my "brothers and sisters" than most of the ones at the KH.
Life is tough...

cantleave: I have a similar situation. I enjoy the rancor here as well as the stories, most of which are, sadly, true. For now, I'm Stillin.
straightshooter: You seem to live up to your name. I'm not really so studious anymore. More like burned out on the whole thing, so much we really can't know for sure...I do enjoy how some have pointed out the self-contradicting things that WTS is so full of these days. Why shouldn't witnesses be ENCOURAGED to "make sure" and do some self-examination? It could be a healthy thing!
