Michael George, speaking for myself, I am just plain burned out on all of it. If there was more to go on, I would pay more attention.

My experience is similar to Dubfounded's. My wife was a victim as a child. My daughter was a victim as a child. My wife has never shared any details of her molestation with me, only that she was reprimanded for her precociousness. When my daughter was molested, the elders never told me about it, probably because I would have gone off on my elder/father-in-law if I knew. My daughter doesn't remember it at all, she was so young.
So, the guy is dead now. He got away with it in the sense that it never became public. and I live with the fallout from his sickness.

Who else provides all this spiritual food?
by StephaneLaliberte intwo days ago, i experienced a spiritual epiphany while visiting the library of a catholic university: i was shocked to find thousands of religious literatures produced by the catholics and protestants in the last few hundred years.
someone could easily spend a secluded lifetime trying to read them all.
for years, i was told by my religious leaders (jws) that the catholics and other religions did not provide spiritual food to their members.

But the Witness books are written so that a simpleton can understand them! God loves simpletons, too, you know.
I found myself trying to squeeze deepness out of those mid-week book studies but it just wasn't there. When it comes down to "food for thought" the Catholics win, hands down!

Involved(ish) with a JW Man.
by BNG-713 ini know there are several posts about witnesses and non-witnesses in regards to relationships.
i couldn’t find anything specifically that spoke to me, so i would love some third-party advice and thoughts.. i have never been someone to pursue a stranger from the internet.
earlier this year, i became friends with someone on a video game.

He will want you to become a JW. He'll start out slow. If you can keep your eyes open, because love is blind, you will have the resistance needed to repel the idea. You are open territory and he will explore every angle.
Or...I'm wrong and he is looking for a way out.

What to do when you're PIMO and dont want to date a jw?
by nowawake14 inwhat are your thoughts on that?.

I know how it is. It almost seems like the two of you getting together is a foregone conclusion, a marriage made in heaven. You get hints from others suggesting that you might be "compatible."
This will continue until one of you leaves or one of you makes a different choice. It sounds like both of those things are happening with you.
The only thing worse than breaking off a lousy relationship is letting it go on.

The One Redress to Victims That Never Happens
by LetTheTruthBeKnown init seems no matter how much money or press the victims get, the rank and file jw's are either unaware or do not believe what had happened.
the persecution complex takes over.
stockholm syndrome???.

Exactly, Phizzy! The JW's are only another religion that has gotten into serious trouble because of their church policies. Nothing special about it. Not persecution. Not their godliness driving the "world" to madness. The drive to appear more "clean" than any other church groups has finally caught up with them. Big lump under the carpet there where you have been sweeping all of your dirt, WTS.

Overlapping Generations
by Lost in the fog inperhaps this explains why the gb have a fixation with time and chronology.
also why they keep their adherents in a prison away from the real world.
lol.

WT Teaching That You Can't Leave Behind
by jhine inafter posting on another thread it became apparent to me that it can be difficult for some ex jws to totally shake off all wt teaching , even after leaving the org.
do you still feel guilty going into a church for a wedding or a funeral .
can you bring yourself to celebrate birthdays or christmas .

I cling to the idea that there is justice. Somewhere, somehow. we have an inner sense of right and wrong and something seems definitely wrong on this planet. I still hope that there can be some sort of "healing" for the family of human beings.

Thanks again, Atlantis. I got all 4 years on my PDF storage app. Is it my imagination or are the more recent years showing a much smaller Bethel Family? For sure, one couple I know is no longer there.
Will these files self-destruct or are they safe where I have put them? I had them in "Notes" last time.
Cobbler! That's all a person really needs!

Atlantis, I had downloaded the Bethel directory a couple of months ago. Maybe a year. Anyhow, it seems to have erased itself from my iPad's memory. Is that weird?
Hey, but, Thanks for your work. It's probably me.
My wife was flabbergasted when I informed her that her friend, a married couple at Bethel, did not appear to be there any more. "How do YOU know?" " I looked them up in the Bethel directory." Silence...
You rock. I owe you a cold one.
