Hey everyone
I have decieded to celebrate my first christmas this year. I was a born in JW and now aged 32 and having not been to a meeting in a year this is a big step for me. I don't feel any guilt or worry ( just excitement) which I would of, if I had done this a few years ago. My wife has never been a JW and has went without christmas for 7 years, so she is delighted. This has been the last hurdule for me to overcome and I am well looking forward to it.
So does anyone have any tips or advice on how to make a good christmas, Decorations e.c.t. What makes a good Christmas?
Will be having my sister ( she was DF 10 years ago, and never looked back) over with her husband and kids. so they will be happily shocked I guess.

in the last two years we have seen many changes in the watchtower - a few are listed below.
what are your thoughts concerning the movement and direction of jehovah's witnesses for 2010 and beyond?.
doctrinal changes:.
To be honest, we need a new Ray Franz to come out of the governing body and disclose what has been going on inside over the last decades. though looking from the outside it seems that time and the internet is the problem for the WT. A new reworking of Daniel and Revelation will have to come about in the next 20 years as these books became even more outdated and bizarre even to the most faithful.
They can't become to mainstream or they lose what separates them from rest of Christianity, however they need to modernise somehow retaining the control.

<< part iii.
part iv how to meet a wife in six weeks.
i mentioned a while back my dad had a pretty bad accident when he was a kid.
Besty
Really good story, am enjoying it. Some very similar experiances with our parents, mine where both catholic and protestant backgrounds with a hard troubled upbringing. My dad suffered a serious injury 9 months before the witnesses knocked at their door and were able to give them answers to lifes problems.

the amount the times i browse the board and read some great posts destroying ideology that was once almost indestructable in jw world.
surely with all those great thoughts we can construct something to really bring down down what is ineffect a man made idea.
this will not happen overnight, but think long term 20 or 30 years.
Sorry, the follow question is, what could each person do to transform the thinking of only 1 active JW.

The time for debate on certain christianty issues has long passed, a religion that destroyes so many families in the modern 21st century surey must be stopped. The belief system I have no problem with, but the process to acheive its objective is morally wrong. Surely a combined effort with all the minds here could move things forward.
Be constuctive, forget all preconceptions, combined we can make a change for our kids

some feel that it is enough for the witnesses to understand a few major doctrines correctly.
whatever doctrines are important to you--trinity, hellfire, the soul, etc--if the jws are in agreement with your own beliefs on the subject, is that enough to make them a religion worth being a part of?.
the society is fond of using the illustration of a beautifully prepared, tasty and nutritious meal.
Like winston in george orwell 1984, everything is true then doubts start slowly ( many witnesses are able to dismiss them and discard, and fit and shape new info into their established views.) some of us see the little lies and distortions, at first justifying for the greater good. But once we really think about the lies, we see how prolific they are, and wonder what the real truth is. Eventually you realise you cannot reach the truth through lies and that ironically enough the truth shall make you free. Bye Bye witnesses ideology. So thats why they must be right about everything and not question or they would all end up on this board. :)

i was talking to a woman yesterday about a few matters and it occured to me that she was able to see things either as right or wrong with never anything in between.
her comment: "if a person lied once, then they are a liar and will obviously lie again.
once a cheater, always a cheater.
I have learned since leaving the jw mindset, that humanity / life is not black and white but many shades of grey. Thinking in absolutes is not thinking at all, and made me intolerant, ignorant and narrow minded. I now try whether looking for truth, wisdom or understanding certain situations for true discussion and an open mind.

i see that there are many people on here who've left the jw's and are still christians...but i wonder what type?
non denominational?
has anyone changed to something completely different like hindu or buddhism?
I am a atheist myself. It's a simple faith, but gives me great comfort in these last days.
